@@theID2 there's a game called Persona 5 in which the main character and his friends form a crew called the Phantom Thieves. The area in this video is what an area in the game was based on. more specifically the area at 57:26 to 58:43. The place named "Phantom" is just about where the cafe in game called leblanc is, which also happens to be the main character lives.
I think youtube recommended this channel one day BECAUSE I'd just finished Persona 5 and was obsessed. I am so so grateful RUclips decided to show me and I've since gone back and watched a lot of your older videos. Thank you for all you do!
@Optimuz I was just referring to the density of their cities, and their walkability. You know, designing cities the way we had for the thousands of years we existed without cars.
Closest it gets to are thriving pre-WWII cities and neighborhoods. As said with the reply with zoning code allowing mixed used density and commercial ground space. Now it's all Euclidian zoning filled with sprawling suburbs.
38:44 I don't speak any Japanese but I'll guess at You: "Granny, can I help you carry your pail of water somewhere?" She: "Oh, no I'm fine thank you - but that's most considerate of you, young person".
I never said before but thank you so much for these. During the Pandemic I was stuck indoors. I was fortunate enough to be able to work from home, but I still wasn't able to go anywhere. I discovered your videos during, and I was able to get out and walk in a wonderful place I have never seen before! You helped me so much get through my isolation, thank you deeply. Now when I am feeling stressed or overwhelmed, I come here, to your Japan walks to relax. I owe you a great debt of gratitude. Much love and appreciation.
Man, what a blast from the past! I had a friend that lived in Sangenjaya that I visited a lot back in 2009-2011 and you walked through the parks we went to and right by the house! Can't believe I still recognize all the paths and buildings after all this time. Awesome video and glad I was recommended your channel! You gained a follower!
I lived for a short while in Sangenjaya too - and watching this took a lot of screaming at the screen "turn left" and "turn right" but he didn't end up walking past my house lol. Still, I enjoyed it, it was good to see Carrot Tower again :D
I am playing Persona 5 Royal on Steam and Holy Tornado, this looks exactly the home area of the game. Where Ren is running around with his Cat Morgana. I knew that P5R has places modeled after real locations in Tokyo but didn't know this was inspired by P5R. Atlus you are a Genius! Also that is cool to see that there is a local tram line that goes there. I recognize the freeway because the logo for the location includes the freeway there. I still haven't beaten the game but I will as soon I get free time and after my semester ends. The Persona and SMT games now makes me want to explore more of Tokyo and many Japan cities and countryside one day. Thank you Sega/Atlus.
42:41 It's just fun seeing you enjoying simple things like that. I'm also hoping I could watch you sit and relax in a greenery place or in autumn season just sitting and admiring the view, it's like as if I can experience it too myself just by watching. Thank you for the great videos 😃
Persona 5 creator Katsura Hashino: “I wanted to build a game like a picaresque novel. So I needed a place that showed that the character didn’t have anywhere to go and where the character confronts the adult generation.” “For the place where the character should live, I found it nice to have a large highway that looked like it covered all the the city, and for the character to end up in the small streets at the brink of destruction.” “There, he would find shelter at an old man’s place, I thought that it would be a good place to start the story.” From Katsura Hashino's Archipel interview.
The fact that you can lose yourself walking alone between these little streets with a giant camera and not having to be scared or worried about anything... I just can't imagine what that feels like...
36:34 Outside the garage is an old Puch G-wagen, which is quite cool, but inside is the distinct shape of a red Italian wedge, I think a 208 GTB or something similar? Super-cool to see this sort of thing tucked away and yet visible.
I don’t know if you’re planning on it, but I always thought your videos at indoor expos/conventions were a great addition this time of year. Your channel is amazing.
Thank you so much for this video! It's a funny feeling, everything seems familiar, even though I've never been there in person - but I've visited this place in Persona! ;D❤
I could spend days just walking around this place if I could. Every corner is a whole little world of its own, and I can only hope to someday explore it for myself.
not sure why exactly but i love these videos, perhaps i have a slightly romanticized version of japan in my mind but they got things right a lot more then the west has if you ask me. not without its struggles im sure but still, it just looks like an amazing place to live in.
This place has got special vibes - perfect city in contrast to all those narrow back streets - stunning, really like landing in a game! Graffiti, spooky yards, rusty fences, even a pothole in asphalt🙀 - it's not easy to find all this in Japan, lucky country🤗💖 !!! And wind, crunchy leaves 🍂🍁✨... amazing walk !!
Wait - did he just add the Persona 5 reference in the title of this video later... not that I am complaining. I did watch this just to see if I recognise anything from the game in this vid.
Mmmm...if only the tram station at the start of the video was conjured in some shape or form for Persona 5+Royal...but it's nice to see the real-life counterpart to Yongen-Jaya from your eyes...makes me want to boot up P5R again on my Xbox...cleared the game with all achievements unlocked just a couple months ago...😎
First off, love your walking videos. Second off, I am still surprised at the back road mix of retail stores. So many restaurants to choose from. Do all of them actually make money?
The owners of the shop named "Phantom" at 57:57 knew EXACTLY what they were doing.
Great video!
can you explain?

Rambalac is an old channel with a lot of cool videos about Japan. There are videos in the rural areas and in some beautiful cities.
I love night walks. They’re so pretty with all the lights
Really wish the US had actually designed their cities in this fashion. Just feels right.
Im glad they didn‘t. dont want to go japan just to see that the us literally copied everything.
@Optimuz I was just referring to the density of their cities, and their walkability. You know, designing cities the way we had for the thousands of years we existed without cars.
I think, especially in the US zoning code, which basically forbids mixed-use zoning in city centers (or in general) are to blame.
Closest it gets to are thriving pre-WWII cities and neighborhoods.
As said with the reply with zoning code allowing mixed used density and commercial ground space. Now it's all Euclidian zoning filled with sprawling suburbs.
Not from US but I wish my country was similar to Japan, maybe in 500 years lol

I really like all the alley bars and stores.
It’s a great use of the alleys and they look really cool.

As a Canadian, I enjoyed hearing someone talk about Letterkenny so far away from home.
cant wait to be in japan in about 2 months after so long, ahhhh definitely gonna refreshen my jp skills before then

Great job Rambalac. I love persona 5. Thank you. Greetings from Tbilisi, Georgia

I've never clicked so fast on a video in my lifetime, let me just pause for a sec and turn on Beneath the Mask
10:14 can't believe you found this guy been looking for him since 3rd grade, didn't know he moved to tokyo

I love this channel so much. Perfect for late night armchair exploration.
I've watched a ton of similar channels but it was only now I realised that Rambalac was the first one I followed! Fantastic stuff!
I really love night walks :,) but I especially loved this because Persona is one of my favorite game series of all time, especially P5
I get Parasite Eve vibes from the night walks.
Just beautiful... Thanks for sharing!!
24:47 that orange guy ⬅️😂↙️
This is far and away my favorite RUclips channel.
It feels like you're about to bump into Kiryu Kazuma at any second and then he'll have to fight you.
Thank you so much for this video! It's a funny feeling, everything seems familiar, even though I've never been there in person - but I've visited this place in Persona! ;D❤
Are those RUclipsrs CDawgVA and Premier Two (2:27) I hear at the beginning, lol? They both live in Tokyo I think.
Love your videos. I have learned a lot about Japan through your videos ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Nice video! I live here, I was waiting to see myself walking the dog on the path about halfway through :)
This looks stunning on my HDR monitor. Incredible.
So much happy to be part of every journey you make Ramblack.
I didn't know it was possible for this channel to be even more perfect
I used to live in Setagaya and come to Sengenjaya sometimes, I miss this place a lot. Thanks for your video
Everything is so nicely lighted, and the streets and alleyways are CLEAN, much cleaner than here in the US.
I live in tokyo and its extremeky clean but also because there are no pubic trashcans. Youre supposed to take your own trash home.
But US economy is more powerful than japan
I could spend days just walking around this place if I could. Every corner is a whole little world of its own, and I can only hope to someday explore it for myself.
Love these videos...no annoying "boom boom tis" YT music...no talking...they relax me before sleep. 👍
Lovely walk, thank you!
33:35 Fast & Furious - Tokyo Drift 😎
Great walk. Thank you for sharing!
Like always, thank you!!!
veryyyy relaxing. great !
I just played Beneath the mask on another tab and it fits so well lol
I found it odd how leblanc is located at some god forsaken alley.
After seeing this video, I got a whole different perspective on Persona 5
I always watch 2 videos everyay (with watching full ads) to support your channel. Keep it up!
very nice walk. thank you for the tour!
Hey, you've found Waldo! Bonus points! 😊
Good job.. ❤ like street Nights
いまペルソナ5Rやってるところでした!うれしいです
Thanks to your hardwork we are able to experience the real japan
Really appreciated and pls take good care of your health mainly legs bro
Every time I see Café Leblanc, the bath house and laundromat, I get so giddy. Every damn time.
My dream is to walk around these streets someday.
i really like this, thank you so much.
38:00 Wow. Don't see alot of that in Japan? Here, it's EVERYWHERE!
@ 2:30 are those two people you can hear speaking English bloody @CDawgVA and Pete "Premier Two" Donaldson?
I like the ambiance 😮
The first minute with the FamiMa, the level crossing and the train station reminded me of the intro of Ghiblis "Whisper of the Heart". 😃
I'm here for the video game references! Trip booked for the end of March. Hope to see the sakura.
23:30 Here’s Leblanc on the left!
I really like this area. One of your best walks. I would love to live here.
Setting up the second player to run Persona 5 soundtrack in the background while watching this video... yes, thats perfect 🥰

Amazing video, japanese is so beautiful,
Tokyo is gigantic.
Everything seems so small in Japan. I'm 6'4", I feel like i'd be accidentally at people's window height or peering over their fences.
The swing set part is my favourite 🥲 glad you had fun
33:16 be carful that green light looks like an entrance to the backrooms O.O

I love this channel. Now make a video in Inaba and I'll be really impressed!! 😂
I never saw this coming.
32:33 Nice golf swing
Wow these are great with some Japanese music playing in the BG. Thank you :) Do you plan to go to Yokosuka were Shenmue was done :)
Some guy at 2:30 telling his buddy what Letterkenny is lmao
