Followed your instructions and had it done in a couple of hour's using low rise ramps. Dongle made it so much easier. The 3rd bolt was hard but got it in the end 👍
just did the install and i highly recommend a lift. the third bolt is tough to reach on the ground with stands and it’s a tight area to work. Definitely worth it though, sounds amazing on my 2016 ST. As of 2022 the kit comes with a dongle so you don’t have to splice wires.
Thanks for the video..! I noticed that from factory those engine covers eat into some of the hoses over time.. My god these cars are super jam packed lol.. My Fiesta ST blew the rubber tube thats on the other end of the coolant hose that comes out of the higher part of the coolant exspantion tank and runs around the front of the engine and then up beside the battery... Seems it must have been pulling on the rubber a little too much and with all that heating and cooling the rubber just gave way.. Seen it online by a few other owners too.. Lucky it happend when I was parked up or I might not have noticed it and if I was not on to it soon enough it could have cooked my engine....
If you’re gonna buy a bov for your fiesta st definitely this one is a good one, I would stay away from the EM versions. The vee port pro is also a good choice since it’s easy to install at the symposer location and it’s not as loud and blow off loud every time you lift off the throttle.
@@SpeedyJames they tend to have issues, when I got mine it leaked right away, some people have issues with the connector coming off right out of the box. Personally the blow off sounds like a spacer
What tool(s) are you using to remove the bolts that hold the stock BOV in? I tried to install the BOV and the space was very small and could not get a wratchet to fit.
Interested in getting one of these valves but the fluttering sound scares me. It sounds great but my understanding is that it was made by compressor surge when closing the throttle?? Does that mean the valve isn't venting enough or is it by-design?
Joel Gray it's not venting enough. It needs softened a bit. remember. All a blow off valves job is to release boost pressure when the throttle is closed. it should be fully closed and only open to release pressure. then close again at idle. boost psi and boost surge is controlled by the wastegate. Not the bov.
Wait, isn’t the stock one a bypass valve? I thought they worked differently, a bypass valve is to reroute the psi back to intake to reduce turbo lag, and a blow off valve is to vent 100% psi out and also give a nice “pshh” sound! If they were different things why upgrade to a blowoff valve gets better performance for the car? I don’t get it.
Yeah the stock one recycles the boost back in the system which is more efficient. Idk why you would want to do this to your car besides it sounding cool. Maybe if you were running a big amount of boost you might want to dump it in the atmosphere but stock fiesta ST's aren't really running that much boost lmfao.
zhuoqun xu it’s a dual port bov meaning 50% is going to the atmosphere and the other 50% back into the intake. And being that the FiST turbo is so small you wouldn’t even see the difference most likely. And the factory ones are more prone to boost leaks
Hey CJPP, i just installed mine. Revs at idle are pretty normal, but when revving up to 2500-3000 rpm, then letting off the throttle im not hearing any phssssss. Should i set it softer? Or harder?
fonz 2613 How much throttle. It’s a mechanical BOV so the amount of air is based partially on throttle position and boost pressure. 1st gear and neutral don’t really give boost so there’s almost no dump until about 4K rpm’s. But for a “psssh” sound, set it harder. Softer for flutter
Thanks for the info. I messed with it a few times and have it dialed in now. You're right, if you aren't getting up to around 4,000 rpm you aren't going to hear anything being vented.
I have this on my FIST and I get flutter at all rpms and while under load, full boost. I have the BOV turned soft so you can see a bit of the O ring but it still flutters. I've had many turbocharged sport cars and have never had this kind of flutter at full boost. I checked the vacuum lines and they all seem fine. Anybody have any input? The flutter seems to be coming from the intake/turbo rather than the BOV. I obviously don't want to damage the turbo long term.
@@khaleesibell2870 I think I've talked to you on Facebook about this stuff hahaha. What I ended up doing was taking the cap off the BOV and then used some engine oil to lubricate the piston. Put it all back together and tightened so the Oring was no showing at all, then went one more time around. I get flutter at low RPMs but I'm starting to think that's just how these turbos are designed. I don't get flutter when I'm in boost, but rather a nice chirp from the intake side and the regular whoosh sound from the BOV.
@@chrismonroe8417 ah ok you might have lol I'm not sure. Yeah when I first got it used it did that too. Which is just how these bovs are. I'm s280 now and it seems to be going off under load. The spring might need to be replaced I suppose with time the can get soft.
you first need to have a turbo to have a blow off valve... the only ecoboost in the focus is the 1.0 3cyl or the 2.0 in the ST or the 2.3 in the RS... so not this one, this one is for the 1.6 EB.
***** Maybe in other parts of the world, in the US you can only get the n/a 1.0 ecoboost or the 2.0 in the focus S/SE/SEL/Titanium and the 2.0 Ecoboost in the ST... I believe in older years you could get the 1.6 n/a motor in the focus... and I know you can get a 1.5 ecoboost in the escape...
Quick answer is no. Nothing will void your warranty unless they can somehow prove that the specific tune/part is responsible for whatever broke. For example, if I have some aftermarket coilovers, but my clutch goes bad, then my warranty is still good.
Update: with the newer kit no splicing required! Just a little dongle you plug into the existing port. Super sharp idea by turbosmart!
Drew J which kit are you referring to?
@@zxibit3081 which is the new kit? does it say V2 on it?

Can you do a turbosmart boost gauge install?
Will installing this throw a check engine light? I do have an accessport already.
Do you need a tune with this?
Can I do this without changing the hose with it? Would that make any difference
Great video all I need now its the car 😢

Is the plumb back blow off valve the same way to install?
Yes same exact install.
if I get this would I have to tune it? for my 2016st3
No tune required.

I tried...1.0 ecoboost has a different MAF zensor

Yes and No. This part will do a much better job of controlling any boost leaks at the BOV.

Install their wastegate as well since this video?
We have not done a wastegate video. IMHO it really should be installed and then dyno'd to make sure everything is good.
