Awesome stag boys, just shows if you don't shoot the first one what you can get. Very impressive animal boys, and you guys have great maturity in evaluating animals well done fella's.
Well done. Good stalking, patience, and some hard work produced the results you wanted. The red stag trophy of a lifetime. And you actually tramped, and not choppered, in to do your hunting! I hunted lots in the 60s, 70s and 80s and we did a heap of tramping under heavy packs to get in to our hunting zones. Not knocking modern hunting practrices though: whatever works, don't knock it. Good hunting, lads.
Holy heck guys it was worth the softly softly approach & looking for the real trophy you were after. A great looking area you entered too. No doubt you‘ll be heading back another time. 🍻 Kiwi in Oz 🇳🇿🦘
Cracking hunt boys! Proper good effort and great footage! Topped with a well deserved stag of lifetime! Good work on caping him out! Bet he looks mint on the wall! Congratulations
Nice vid guys. Spent a lot of time in there over the years. Cool to see there’s a few nice animals still about. A couple of good ones have come out of that gully, well earned boys.
40 stags in a mob id be picking its otago somewhere, ashton burn does hold some good size stags but not that many in a mob and that close to the gate hunted hard there
Typical just worried about the trophy hv a bit of empathy for the animal as it having its last breaths just goes to show theres still muppets that hv no idea
A pretty massive waste of meat right there, that stag looked in bloody good condition, a couple trips between you two would've stopped a fine animal like that just rotting in the ground.
killing an animal with a gun at 500 yards is not a sport...where I come from luckily this is illegal, just for population control, but that's not a sport, that's a necessity.
The shooter was probably much closer to the animal, nevertheless I agree that it is one of the worst hunting videos I have seen, except for those long range hunting videos where they use animals instead of targets, or, even worse, they make snotty little kids pull the trigger at 500+ yards on elk and bear. I totally understand that as a European hunter you just cannot wrap your head around the complete lack of hunting ethics in these videos, but it is what it is. The vast majority of these "hunters" are uneducated, inexperienced, and have absolutely zero respect for the game, or Nature in general.
I disagree with both these comments. They obviously come from countries that will never allow then the opertunity to experience true freedom, by their laws and personal predudice. I only see the greatest respect for nature and the animals by these hunters. They are obviously very athletic and skilled men. Great video.
I also disagree with these comments, what a load of shit. How would you have hunted this stag any different?, stalked to within 15m and clean killed it with a long bow!?. These are wild deer in very open country, good luck with that. These Guys have put in the hards over a few days and passed up multiple animals that a lot of hunters would’ve taken….. get over ya selves.
@@7mm08ts Nice language, sign of intelligence. Anyway, by modern standards this hunt was painfully badly executed, and the lack of information (shooting distance, bullet, caliber, and rifle used) leaves the viewer with more doubts than necessary. So, what is wrong with this hunt? A) The method. An experienced, ethical hunter, knowing that the terrain and the behaviour of the game makes a close shot (below 200 yards) almost certainly impossible, would have been joined by a fellow rifleman, who could have taken an immediate and accurate follow-up shot, and not the botched second and third shots this amateur took in haste at a running animal (at 350 yards! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?). Not only his follow-up shots were ineffective, they endangered the other animals. Where did the second and third bullets go? You do not know. All I can see is a large exit wound behind the shoulder, which suggest good bullet placement at the first shot, and I assume this is what killed the animal. Maybe, MAYBE I see a second wound on the lower abdomen. If it is a hit, it is definitely a very bad one. Again, there is a complete lack of necropsy, or even an oral summary of what happened inside the animal. It leaves me with the bad feeling that the hunter did not care at all. He will not learn anything from his mistakes, ever. B) The equipment used. If you take a shot at a large, strong animal, which has the tendency to run when hit, you had better use something big. Again, about the equipment the video contains no information whatsoever. What the footage shows is dismal terminal performance, which is expected with any kind of light sporting rifle at 350 yards on Cervus elaphus. The escape distance was large, probably several hundred yards (the video does not help much in judging it), which, by modern standards, is a failure. Of course, people, for whom the end justifies the means, will consider this latter argument invalid. I cannot do anything with that.
That’s an awesome stag. That’s a stag of a lifetime! Well done guys. You deserve it. I really like the way you guys hunt. Thanks for sharing.

Well done but a shame about your bad language was watching with my 2 girls 4 and 5 years old
