Hey Robert. I just started using the lathe to thin and score my pandeiro jingles. I would like to start using the lathe on the pandeiro body. Watching your video, it seems that you made your own press fit chuck for attaching the pandeiro to the lathe. From what I can see it seems like you made it from plywood. I am thinking of making one. Are there any pointers you can give me?
Sorry for the delay in replying! I actually use pieces of shells from Precision Drum or Billy Blast. They're Keller Maple shells, available in many sizes and thicknesses. Best of all, since they are left over when companies make drums, they're happy to sell them to me at a reasonable price, instead of throwing them away. Would love to know more about where you are, etc. I tried making shells once, but these are perfect, and I have time to devote to other aspects of the construction.
Great video , but can you tell me how did you make shell at the first place and what kind of wood do you use , I'm from eastern Europe and want to make one for my self . thx
