  • Joshua Part 1: Take the Land - Josh Walters - Seacoast Church
I CAN “TAKE THE LAND” WHEN I...
    1. SEE EVERY DAY AS PREPARATION
After the death of Moses the servant of the Lord, the Lord said to Joshua son of Nun, Moses’ aide: “Moses my servant is dead. Now then, you and all these people, get ready to cross the Jordan River into the land I am about to give to them-to the Israelites.
    Joshua 1:1-2 (NIV)
So Joshua overcame the Amalekite army with the sword. Then the Lord said to Moses, “Write this on a scroll as something to be remembered and make sure that Joshua hears it, because I will completely blot out the name of Amalek from under heaven.”
    Exodus 17:13-14 (NIV)
“Come up to me on the mountain and stay here, and I will give you the tablets of stone with the law and commandments I have written for their instruction.” Then Moses set out with Joshua his aide, and Moses went up on the mountain of God. Exodus 24:12-13 (NIV)
I will take some of the power of the Spirit that is on you and put it on them. They will share the burden of the people with you so that you will not have to carry it alone.
    Numbers 11:17 (NIV)
Joshua son of Nun and Caleb son of Jephunneh, who were among those who had explored the land, tore their clothes land said to the entire Israelite assembly, “The land we passed through and explored is exceedingly good. If the Lord is pleased with us, he will lead
us into that land, a land flowing with milk and honey, and will give it to us. Only do not rebel against the Lord. And do not be afraid of the people of the land, because we will devour them. Their protection is gone, but the Lord is with us. Do not be afraid of them.” Numbers 14:6-9 (NIV)
    2. TRUST GOD’S WORD
The Lord would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend. then Moses would return to the camp, but his young aid Joshua son of Nun did not leave the tent.
    Exodus 33:11 (NIV)
I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised Moses. Your territory will extend from the desert to Lebanon, and from the great river, the Euphrates-all the Hittite country-to the Mediterranean Sea in the west. No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you. Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them.
“Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go.” Joshua 1:3-7 (NIV)
Very Truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the father.
    John 14:12 (NIV)
    3. MOVE FORWARD IN FAITH
So Joshua ordered the officers of the people, “Go through the camp and tell the people, ‘Get your provisions ready. Three days from now you will cross the Jordan here to go in and take possession of the land the Lord your God is giving you for your own.’”
    Joshua 1:10-11 (NIV)
