I like getting stephen king movies too, but I just suffered through Maximum Overdrive - I bet that one could benefit from a modern re-make. Also re-watched Salem's Lot after reading the book, which really highlighted the differences in some of the plot and timeline/story. I think most of the time, his books are the way to go.

A lot of things would have turned out quite differently if Halloween 3 had been the second film instead of the third, which I think was the original idea. Halloween 2 being a sequel to the first movie pretty much torpedoed the 'anthology' concept.
