Grey Heron Feeding Baby Chicks アオサギの給餌

  • You can see here that the heron parent is regurgitating half-digested fishes for his/her three chicks. Two of them look just a few days old, and the smallest one is probably less than one day old. They eat as much as they can, then suddenly sleep fall upon them.
    孵化後まだ1週間経たないヒナたちです。3羽のうち一番小さなヒナは生まれて1日と経ってないかもしれません。それでも大きな兄弟と一緒になって餌を食べています。親が吐き戻した餌は最初はわりあい原形を留めていますが、後から吐き戻されたものはかなり消化されていますね。ひとしきり食べ終えたヒナたちはすみやかに眠りに就きます。食べることと寝ることの間に何のアクションもありません。食べ残された餌は親鳥がひとつひとつ丁寧に拾っていきます。

    それにしてもアオサギの親は雛にはとても優しそうですね😀

      ワイルドでないと生き残れませんから。同様に、優しさ、甲斐甲斐しさ、細やかさみたいなのがないと、ヒナは育てられないのでしょうね。

    • @heronsdream
      @heronsdream  6 лет назад +1

      そうですね。でも、このぐらいのサイズの違いはまだかわいいほうです。アオサギは2日に1卵ずつ産むので、5卵産んだとして最初に生まれるヒナと最後に生まれるヒナとでは1週間以上の差ができてしまいます。年上の兄弟が年上らしく振る舞うかと言えば決してそんなことはありませんし、後から生まれてくるヒナは何かと大変なようです。

    I wonder how long the tiniest lasted in the nest.

    • @heronsdream
      @heronsdream  6 лет назад +1

      The tiniest is probably 0 day old. He/she will fly about 50 days later.

  • @ultraspinalki11
    @ultraspinalki11 6 лет назад

    Well, I know the smallest one will be eventually killed off by its own mother. Herons only keep the bigger chicks right?

    • @heronsdream
      @heronsdream  6 лет назад +5

      As far as I know, heron parents never kill their own chicks by choice. When food is not enough, bigger chicks harass the smallest one and keep it from eating food, so that the smallest one often starves to death. Fortunately, this does not seem to be the case with the chicks in this nest. When I saw them again three weeks later, all three of them were doing well and I could hardly tell who was the smallest one.

      教科書的には、小さなヒナには親鳥は消化した餌を口移しで与える、ということなのですが全然違いますね。大きめの2羽はまだしも、地肌のままの生まれて間もないヒナまで魚を丸ごと飲み込もうとしていますし…。この時期、口と胃だけで身体の大半ができている感じなんだと思います。

    • @heronsdream
      @heronsdream  7 лет назад +2

      Because heron chicks are born every one to two days. I believe the tiny one is only a few hours old.
