- Aaron Baker (November 11, 1960) must be the most underrated bodybuilder ever. This is Aaron at the IFBB Grand Prix in Darmstadt, Germany on September 28th, 1996 where he finished only tenth!

How comes I have never heared about this guy insane physique!!
ignorance?... any real BB fan knows him. as a true fan you should generally know the winners of the NPC nationals from the 80s through to the mid 1990s when the comp was strong. from there its been complete poo. thats probably why.

Wow, what a powerhouse. Conditioning, size, symmetry & great posing.
How this guy wasn't Mr Olympia or in the top 3 is beyond me. He's got mass, flow, conditioning...not a weak shot. He doesn't overemphasize his arms or legs but when he hits them it's mindblowing. And his posing is tremendous. Must've pissed off the judges or Weider?!
He competed in Vince McMahon's WBF in 1991 and 1992 and afterwards returned to the IFBB. Like all the bodybuilders who did the same he never scored well since then.
@@musclemonarchs2554 yea, that's true. If I recall right, Strydom, Mike Christian, Eddy Robinson and some other big late 80s IFBB guys joined Vince McMahon's league and careers went to hell when they returned to the IFBB. The politics of bodybuilding can really suck sometimes.

Retired pro Mighty Mike Quinn stated in an interview that he believes Aaron wasn't placing well was because of his feminine mannerism when he posed and spoke in interviews, any hint of being gay isn't good business for the IFBB and Weiders (Bob Paris for example). To be clear, Aaron Baker was never gay.

Also any interesting story comes from Ironman Magazine writer Jerry Brainum about why Aaron got 2nd to Flex Wheeler in the 1995 Ironman Pro, a contest he definitely should have won. After the show Jerry walks up to one of the judges and asks, "come on, how did Aaron lose to Flex"? The judge responds by saying Aaron has calf implants, almost "pointy calves" and that was considered cheating. If you look at certain photos of Aaron's calves they do look suspicious....

Anyways, Aaron Baker is a legend in my mind and should have won several pro shows during his time, the first Bodybuilding Magazine I ever picked up as a kid featured a photo of Aaron doing Hack Squats and I was blown away and a bodybuilding fan from then on. Ronnie Coleman also gives Aaron props in this video, saying how impressed he was the first time seeing him, saying he looked like a super hero!

Just watched Marx max muscle comparr to brandon curry .. poor shots used . I think aaron here would pretty much smoke curry and plenty others currently in the top tier. He does his things his way , not a fan of the campy flexing at times much like kai .. but dude was incredible built here . Respect !

The light on this show was better than at Olympia and guys looked better here than during Mr.O. Especially Dorian for years I doubted of his victories until I saw him at this Grand Prix. After watching it I was shocked his condition advantage especially from behind he wins totally, he looked as if he had no skin.

The guy was a victim of competing in non IFBB contests, anyone did that was also not a favorite "IFBB" judges and were deliberately over looked no matter how great in shape they were, another prime example was Edward Kawak.
EXACTLY. Politics all day long. This happened to Sergio Oliva. And he kicked Arnold's ass in 1972 but was denied by Weider.

Aaron was incredible. He often looked better than the winner of the shows he competed in. He was blackballed and never treated fairly. Especially after competing in Vince McMahon World Bodybuilding Federation. Bodybuilding is a business and the IFBB/Weider controlled with an iron fist. Do not believe the BS. Shows were not judged fairly.
seriously which shows are you talking about exactly?. i watched every show he was in and what you are saying just isnt true at all. He couldnt win anything prior to the WBF so took the money. show us all a lineup where he looked better than the winner..educate us all.

He should have been in the top 5 of every pro competition he was in, but he always landed around 8th, 9th, or 10th place, which I never understood. Does anyone honestly believe that Shawn Ray was better than this guy?

Aaron was definitely underrated. He had a superior overall physique to Dorian, Ronnie, Flex, Shawn, and Kevin at this show, and around this time frame. Basically, when he peaked, no one was better. Being very openly and demonstratively gay definitely hurt his placings. Raw deal.
His conditioning was WAY off (for him) at this show. Meanwhile the 96 German Grand Prix was arguably Dorian’s best. He was harder at this show than any other pro show he competed in. Made his 95 Olympia showing look soft in comparison.
He was a powerhouse, when you can go up against a prime Flex Wheeler and make a case your really something. Just missed the boat slightly as this was Ronnie's come up party . Baker was a top 5 olympian IMO and was right behind Ronnie Coleman in respect to thick dense powerfully asthetic muscle.

Of course he looks fkn amazing now compared to today's incomplete bloated bodybuilders but back then he was just average.. He was in many muscle magazines back then probably bc of his good looks and was not camera shy but he wasn't big enough or hard enough to compete against the top guys in the 90s... I'm just saying 90s was crazy as you all know it...

I agree with the title of this video. You can not look at his physique and not tell me he should have easily won multiple pro shows. Sad that his personality and or sexuality was held against him so much. Very sad.
I think it was mainly because he defected to Vince McMahon's WBF in 1991 and 1992.
@@musclemonarchs2554 Agreed to a certain extent, but openly gay professional bodybuilders, aren't that successful, just look at Bob Paris, Christian Duffy, they didn't win a lot of shows. The only gay bodybuilder that I might know of is Chris Dickerson, and he one the Olympia, in 1981 I think, but he was done after that, plus that contest was weak anyway.
