Perrin’s single exit axle back is extremely underrated. It has a heimholz chamber so it does not drone. It also produces some tasty pops bangs and burbles on downshifts.
I have the Fujitsubo A-R on my 22 BRZ. It sounds great. No drone, not egregiously loud. It was quieter when I first put it on. I've had it since October, and I love it. Just the right tone, without being annoying. My friends say they cant hear me rev past them on the highway. but I can actually hear the car while driving. For context on volume, I came from a 2020 BRZ, with a ftspeed muffler delete. My sister still owns that car. That car probably 20% louder all around, AND has some gnarly drone at 4000rpm. The Fujitsubo was on the more expensive side, but I love the look, and the sound. The 22+ cars' OE muffler looks like a daiper.
I’ve got a Perrin resonated catback and a FTSpeed high flow catted uel header and it’s perfect for daily driving, just loud enough to have fun but quiet enough to not annoy people, also gets the power gains from the header
That exhaust looks and sound like Magnaflow axleback i have. My setup is JDL UEL front and overpipe stock and just the magnaflow axleback. For those who are in the fence about exhaust, keep the rest oem and just go with axleback if you are concern about loudness/rattle
You should try a single exit exhaust. In my opinion i think ISR or a HKS hi power goes great with the quiet tone you’re looking for, but in terms of cold start thats a 🫣😬
@@KevinVo Hey Kevin, take a look at the fujitsubo a-rm or the apexi n1-x evolution for single exit exhausts. They might be the balance that you might be looking for as I believe that they both pass the japanese emissions sound test. I plan on picking up one of them as my exhaust solution when the time comes.
I have a 13 BRZ, and am envious of your skid plates. You have the full package with all the belly pans, that supposedly help with MPG and air flow. To bad they are all sold out now. Bummer for me. Love your vids. Thanks for your time.
You should really try a valved exhaust, with stock headers and frontpipe the sound is a bit louder than stock with the valve closed but very nice sounding with it open.
I got lucky and a local dealership sold me the gr performance exhaust separately for waaaay below what it normally is. Imo that's the perfect exhaust. It can be decently loud but not obnoxious at all, no drone and it looks beautiful.
I’ve got the HKS hi power spec L cat back made for the 22 cars and it’s the perfect balance between great sound and noisiness. No drone at highway speeds either but gets louder at the top end of the rev range. Plus some pops and bangs sometimes on downshifts and looks great. Would definitely recommend it if you’re looking for that sound/not pissing off the whole neighborhood balance!
Hi, i got a '23 gr86 special edition, I love the sound of oem cat-back but doesnt want to replace it. Is there aftermartket parts can replace to make it louder? Thank you!
I can't recommend Fujitsubo enough. I put their Legalis exhaust on my old A70 Supra and it was quiet at start up, idle, and all the way to about 4K RPM. Just a bit louder than stock at redline with decent improvements in power through the entire rev range.
The Fujitsubo Authorize R is what I run on my 2022 BRZ and it’s louder but not obnoxious compared to the stock exhaust and has a lot deeper sounding exhaust noise
Kevin I just recently got a 14 Subara Legacy and was thinking about switching out the exhaust however it only comes with 1 tip. If I put a 2 tip exhaust what things do I need to do for the car to run perfectly?.
Been on the hunt for an exhaust that’s not obnoxiously loud, but I have the elite spec remark catback and Fujitsubo A-R exhaust on my list rn. One is definitely more friendly to my budget than the other lol
Love the Fujitsubo A-R. I spent so long trying to find information about it, but absolutely nobody seems to run it outside of Japan, so it was a journey. Now its the next thing on my list for my 2020 BRZ.
Will you be trying out the Remark midpipe kit anytime soon? I currently have the regular remark axle back and am deciding on whether I want to finish the system
Louder than I expected, looks nice too, I think we pay over the odds for certain better known brands, there was nothing budget looking about that exhaust, other than the price, gets my vote
I’m currently running the plm uel headers V2 for the gr86 with a greddy catback for the first gens and it sounds amazing definitely recommend if you have the opportunity to try it!
I love my silenced hks exaust. Is it the perfect level of loud when you want it to be. Never get in trouble with cops in cali too, yet… i got mine around $560 new. Really sweet sounding exaust

I would love to see a mashup of all affordable axle back exhaust for the GR 86. I’m very interested in anything that has a deep burble crack and pop that isn’t too obnoxious or crazy at start up.
I have the MBRP axle back exhaust for my 22 brz, its not too crazy loud and it gives some pops mostly deep burbles. Even though it took a long time to get to me I would reconmend it for the $430 price tag.
That's a little too loud for me. My AWE Touring was expensive but worth every single penny on the GR86. It's great as a daily and when I want it to be loud, it can be loud.
In my opinion, ANY kind of aftermarket frontpipe or overpipe compared to stock just completely ruins the sound of these cars. Instantly way too loud and raspy.
Motive Garage has a really nice sounding exhaust on their 86. I think they got it from a nearby company out in AU. Not much louder from stock, it doesn't seem.
Same, I'm a bit concerned about that with my car. I have headers on the way and an HKS cat-back. I will want to swap out the over pipe as well but man....no offense to the guys who made it but the exhaust in this video sounds terrible.

I'm curious what their catback sounds like. Design wise it looks like it would be very loud.
