I love this second undertaking Joey! First off, Jabba's Action playset is definitely a playset, but one that includes a figure (even if not in the traditional sense). I certainly wouldn't call him a creature. I think your playset list was solid. Smart leaving off foreign variants for now, but I do hope that at some point down the line you go after those as well. I know I am not alone in wanting to share in your next steps. Death Star playset is arguably the best Kenner ever made due to playability and scale. Great start!
So you get a Runners High.... I'm so excited to see more. I'm still looking on a Daghoba Playset for my own... In my opinion, Jabba goes on a Creatures Site...ride on Joey
I collected the playsets exactly the same way, in box as complete as possible, but not mint and unopened. Just loved and played with, but with all instructions and inserts. When needed I would buy a part or piece to replace or upgrade. Also I would buy just an nice empty box then start piecing the set together. The toughest parts to find are the cardboard packing inserts, still looking for a few. Your are 100% correct about, it is hard to get a totally complete playset in box and can take a long time without buying a mint in box one. Still trying to complete my collection all these years later. I did however finally realize 20+ year dream and get all four palitoy sets in box, including the death star! Its not complete or mint shape but slowly I'm trying to make it so. Good luck on your journey, and can't wait for next chapter.

Great topic Joey! A fun journey it will be. I had the Death Star, Land of the Jawas, Creature Cantina, Dagobah and Hoth Imperial Base sets as a kid. Death Star was the best! I think Jabba playset should go under Playset since he was a sentient being and not so much a creature like a Dewback or Taun Taun.

I think you should be open to possible variants, like the Palitoy creature cantina was bloody awesome buts it's wayyy out of my budget! Great to see you back man, this run I am going to love! ok. Jabba the Hutt. it’s a playset that comes with a creature figure. Jabba himself IS a creature -but the throne he sits on is the playset. It has multiple play features. So that Jabba set complete and in the box is a playset. Saying it is not a playset just because it comes with a creature figure is like saying that the Jabba dungeon is not a playset because it comes with some action figures. or it’s like saying that the cardboard cantina is not a playset because that came with three action figures.
Hey John! Yea I agree with you! I was kinda shocked that so many websites and old school collectors had it listed as a creature and not in their playsets catagory?
I've always stuck with just collecting the American Kenner toy line. That's what feels the closest to me. But, for some reason the only exception is the Lili Ledy or made in Mexico versions. They still seem like part of the same group. Like always, you collect what you love brother. 👊😎
My favorite playset was the Death Star space station. I played with it so much that some of the pieces were damaged or missing. I wish Hasbro could make a new Death Star playset.
Collect only Kenner USA here! Like you I aim for MIB, but prefer opened. But I do have a few sealed sets. Only ones I need are the 2 Jabba Dungeons, Cloud City, and HOTH playset. Never had those as a kid. I have passed these up over the years and wished I hadn't. Cause they just simply getting hard to find for a good price anymore.

This will be interesting to watch, I am sure you are going to need a lot of patience, and probably need to piece these things from multiple sources. The simplicity on some of these sets really add to their charm.
@@thepadawancollectorofficial Jeff is likely quite right. There may be situations where it is easier and/or less expensive to find parts from different sellers and assemble the playset than it will be to find a complete one in the box. The only playset part I have is the escape pod from the Tatooine playset. Found it on a Facebook Star Wars collectors' group (I think it was Imperial Commissary) for $10. Was missing some of the stickers, but I found a website that had very good quality photos of the sticker sheets from a lot of the ships, playsets, etc. and printed that off on high quality paper, then carefully cut out and glued the 'stickers' that I was missing onto my escape pod. I've also done that for some of my ships like my Darth Vader TIE fighter and Millenium Falcon that used to have all the stickers as I got it new back when they came out, but some of the stickers fell off. I was able to find some of the stickers loose in the boxes that I had kept them in while I was in college and glue those back on, but some were just missing. I'm not worried about having everything 100% original, I just want it to look good and be something that a kid can play with carefully when my friends' and relatives' kids come to visit me.
So great to hear about the next journey! I love the playsets and they are generally more affordable than mocs. I like playsets open but unassembled so you can experience them as when you first got them as kid. I might include the mail away Display Arena. Probably the most challenging one to get will be the Sears Cantina Adventures playset. I passed on an unassembled one a couple years ago and totally regret it!

I wish you luck finding the Cloud City Playset. I've seen very few photos of ones that people have on the FB groups and have never seen one in person other than the ones that were in stores back in the day. I agree that the Star Destroyer is a playset because it is a cross section of the ship rather than an entire ship. The only ways to get a whole Star Destroyer is to get a small die cast metal one, a plastic glue together model kit, or the Lego set that you can build one from. I have the die cast metal one. The Micro Machines series is the best way to get models of the really big ships from Star Wars that Kenner never made 3" action figure compatible versions for. Less expensive than the other methods, usually, and more durable. If I were you, I'd stick to the US released Kenner playsets and not go into the variants of them either. It will be difficult enough to find those without getting into other countries' versions and the variants. It'll be really interesting to see what you find and the info you learn about them.
Hey John! Right now I have a cloud city Playset in my sights but it’s graded, soooooo I’ll have to see about that one… and yes, for now I’m only collecting the US released playsets. Hey HST! There was a hangar that came with the tie fighter and one with slave 1, but I don’t include those as those were sold with ships and not as a stand alone, but I will mention them :)

To me, Jabba is an action figure, because he is an alien character. He's NOT a beast or creature just because of his size. A creature is an animal like a dewback, tauntaun, rancor, etc. The dais is a two in one. It CAN be a playset seeing as how it is meant to represent the rancor pit. Likewise for the probe droid, that's an action figure also. As for the Star Destroyer, I agree with you, it's a vehicle AND a playset. If the Falcon is a two in one, why is the Star Destroyer not a vehicle/playset? Here's the thing, would the DEATH STAR be a vehicle also?? Maybe not, since it's a piece of one. 🤔 ??? I like thinking of it as a military base, too. Very versitile playset. :) The Palitoy Death Star, I think, should be saved for when you've got all the U.S. playset releases. To me, it's not a variant. Happy hunting :) Thanks for the video 📼

I may have told you this before but I don't remember what year it was but there was one Christmas I woke up to go into the dining room and I saw Darth Vader Star destroyer playset sitting under the tree and obviously I completely flipped out and I'm so happy. However, that thing got lost to the years. I couldn't even pretend to imagine what happened to that damn thing which is a bummer to say the least. I am also with you on the day about playset. My cousin had that and every time we got together at my grandma's house for a weekend he would bring it and I would bring my figures and we would just go nuts doing Star Wars and I loved the day go by a place that and that kid also had the ewok playset which was awesome. That's a lot of fun to play with as well. I'm so excited that you're doing this! This will be fun and I look forward to the upcoming videos of your collecting adventures!

I think you should be open to possible variants, like the Palitoy creature cantina was bloody awesome buts it's wayyy out of my budget! Great to see you back man, this run I am going to love!

ok. Jabba the Hutt. it’s a playset that comes with a creature figure. Jabba himself IS a creature -but the throne he sits on is the playset. It has multiple play features. So that Jabba set complete and in the box is a playset.
Saying it is not a playset just because it comes with a creature figure is like saying that the Jabba dungeon is not a playset because it comes with some action figures.
or it’s like saying that the cardboard cantina is not a playset because that came with three action figures.
Hey John! Yea I agree with you! I was kinda shocked that so many websites and old school collectors had it listed as a creature and not in their playsets catagory?
I've always stuck with just collecting the American Kenner toy line. That's what feels the closest to me. But, for some reason the only exception is the Lili Ledy or made in Mexico versions. They still seem like part of the same group. Like always, you collect what you love brother. 👊😎

My favorite playset was the Death Star space station. I played with it so much that some of the pieces were damaged or missing. I wish Hasbro could make a new Death Star playset.

Collect only Kenner USA here! Like you I aim for MIB, but prefer opened. But I do have a few sealed sets. Only ones I need are the 2 Jabba Dungeons, Cloud City, and HOTH playset. Never had those as a kid. I have passed these up over the years and wished I hadn't. Cause they just simply getting hard to find for a good price anymore.

This will be interesting to watch, I am sure you are going to need a lot of patience, and probably need to piece these things from multiple sources. The simplicity on some of these sets really add to their charm.

@@thepadawancollectorofficial Jeff is likely quite right. There may be situations where it is easier and/or less expensive to find parts from different sellers and assemble the playset than it will be to find a complete one in the box. The only playset part I have is the escape pod from the Tatooine playset. Found it on a Facebook Star Wars collectors' group (I think it was Imperial Commissary) for $10.
Was missing some of the stickers, but I found a website that had very good quality photos of the sticker sheets from a lot of the ships, playsets, etc. and printed that off on high quality paper, then carefully cut out and glued the 'stickers' that I was missing onto my escape pod.
I've also done that for some of my ships like my Darth Vader TIE fighter and Millenium Falcon that used to have all the stickers as I got it new back when they came out, but some of the stickers fell off. I was able to find some of the stickers loose in the boxes that I had kept them in while I was in college and glue those back on, but some were just missing. I'm not worried about having everything 100% original, I just want it to look good and be something that a kid can play with carefully when my friends' and relatives' kids come to visit me.
So great to hear about the next journey! I love the playsets and they are generally more affordable than mocs. I like playsets open but unassembled so you can experience them as when you first got them as kid. I might include the mail away Display Arena. Probably the most challenging one to get will be the Sears Cantina Adventures playset. I passed on an unassembled one a couple years ago and totally regret it!

I wish you luck finding the Cloud City Playset. I've seen very few photos of ones that people have on the FB groups and have never seen one in person other than the ones that were in stores back in the day. I agree that the Star Destroyer is a playset because it is a cross section of the ship rather than an entire ship. The only ways to get a whole Star Destroyer is to get a small die cast metal one, a plastic glue together model kit, or the Lego set that you can build one from. I have the die cast metal one. The Micro Machines series is the best way to get models of the really big ships from Star Wars that Kenner never made 3" action figure compatible versions for. Less expensive than the other methods, usually, and more durable.
If I were you, I'd stick to the US released Kenner playsets and not go into the variants of them either. It will be difficult enough to find those without getting into other countries' versions and the variants. It'll be really interesting to see what you find and the info you learn about them.

Hey HST! There was a hangar that came with the tie fighter and one with slave 1, but I don’t include those as those were sold with ships and not as a stand alone, but I will mention them :)

To me, Jabba is an action figure, because he is an alien character.
He's NOT a beast or creature just because of his size.
A creature is an animal like a dewback, tauntaun, rancor, etc.
The dais is a two in one.
It CAN be a playset seeing as how it is meant to represent the rancor pit.
Likewise for the probe droid,
that's an action figure also.
As for the Star Destroyer, I agree with you, it's a vehicle AND a playset.
If the Falcon is a two in one, why is the Star Destroyer not a vehicle/playset?
Here's the thing, would the DEATH STAR be a vehicle also??
Maybe not, since it's a piece of one. 🤔 ???
I like thinking of it as a military base, too. Very versitile playset. :)
The Palitoy Death Star, I think, should be saved for when you've got all the U.S. playset releases.
To me, it's not a variant.

I may have told you this before but I don't remember what year it was but there was one Christmas I woke up to go into the dining room and I saw Darth Vader Star destroyer playset sitting under the tree and obviously I completely flipped out and I'm so happy. However, that thing got lost to the years. I couldn't even pretend to imagine what happened to that damn thing which is a bummer to say the least.
I am also with you on the day about playset. My cousin had that and every time we got together at my grandma's house for a weekend he would bring it and I would bring my figures and we would just go nuts doing Star Wars and I loved the day go by a place that and that kid also had the ewok playset which was awesome. That's a lot of fun to play with as well.
