I’ve lived in Bangkok for four years. You give a fair assessment. I will point out that AQI is Bangkok is very seasonal. The air is bad from about mid-December through March. They rest of the year if very good. Also, Bangkok is very good for cultural events. The art scene is very good. Music and dance is very good. The Bangkok Symphony Orchestra is excellent and plays free concerts in the park January & February. And Thai cultural festivals are not to be missed. Finally, Thai street food is world renown. I’ve visited KL once and I can see that it is more family friendly.
I'm living in two cities in this list which is KL & Bangkok.. I'm shock a little when u said Bangkok is more safe than KL.. I can understand Thai & Malay language, so i always watch a local news.. Crime cases in bangkok was so high, almost every thai people have a gun, be careful if u live in downtown especially the pub area.. almost everydays got crime news where they shoot & kill each others.. while in KL the crime was much more lower..
You are right. KL is safer than Bangkok. Majority of Caucasians only go to specific areas, so maybe this two are just referring to areas they went. KL is also cleaner, and people are more educated in KL and suburbs. In BKK i get ripped off, but in KL never happened in my life. And I have been to both over 13 times. Lived in both too. Love both countries, Vietnam not much, too low class people trying to rip me off too.
True.. In Thailand the weapons is like a toys to them.. They can keep them without permission.. It is totaly wrong by doing that here in Malaysia.. Feeling not save at certain place in Thailand
I shocked too with your commment Malaysian , Thai people have guns but for only protect ourself and properties ,if you travel in thailand WE'RE NOT KILL TRAVELLER!! it'not our culture ,we always welcome and take care trvellers like relative .
There not only KL that you can visit...there also had legoland johor, pulau redang, taman negara, taman mulu, guung kinablu...we really welcoming you and your family to enjoyed visiting malaysia... I'm glad you choose KL as your no 1 city...stay safe and have a nice day
The burning from Borneo island is in Kalimantan as the Indonesia wants to transfer the governmental buildings there as Jakarta is sinking. Thanks Indonesia again lol 😂😂
Fair comments. To live, KL is the best to live. Easy to adapt as English is more widely spoken comparing to those cities and at the same time, to learn Chinese too. (Best combination of English and Chinese as if you have 'conquered the most universal and most spoken language on earth). We have superb medical facility although (I feel our medical tourism marketing isn't as aggressive as in Bangkok). Ample food varieties to choose in KL. You may easily get Thai food in KL but not necessarily it is easily avail to find Malaysian food in Bangkok/HCM. We are not perfect but we at least understand and have higher tolerance level (culturally and religion) as Malaysia is a multi racial community. To live in a place is ability to adapt and being inclusiveness in the local community; not just staying within expat area or focusing on the touristy areas. Cost is main factor when comes to retirement and to have the least major language barrier. KL has big selection of affordable and luxury living (depending on individual financial ability and their choice) In contrast, I personally like Thailand for tourism purposes and to 'wind down'. Am proud to be Malaysian and is a perfect place in an imperfect way.
@@tanganbabyrosak I think what he/she means is that yes Malay is the National Language, but because of Malaysia's diversity you can easily learn other languages because there are many Malaysians who also speak other languages besides Malay such as Mandarin/Cantonese/Tamil/Iban. Unlike in thailand or vietnam the exposure to other languages there is very minimal. By the way I am proud of our national language, Bahasa Melayu and I can converse well in both Malay and English. 🇲🇾
They actually need to learn malay first than chinese to live in KL and Malaysia as a whole, otherwise they will have language barrier as not all malaysian speak English. Chinese is not really a required language for foreigners or anyone to live in KL.
Dear awesome family... Am so glad you hv choosed Malaysia ...ya you'll be amazed in the nxt five years to come.... When evry mega projects is completed.... Please come again... ❤ frm KL..
Everyone is welcome in Vietnam, a peace-loving country imbued with East Asian identity. Full of beautiful sights, attractive street food and friendly and hospitable people, investing in Vietnam means being 10 years ahead.
Unfortunately the housing prices in Vietnam has gone too far and has now beyond the reach of many people. With the same amount of money spent, you definitely can enjoy a higher quality of living in KL, with a superior transportation system as well as very affordable housing.
Great video guys!!! Well, I am a Malaysian Chinese, I don't want to sound as if I'm being biased at all. But after being to the other 2 countries over & over again, I've to say, Malaysia is still a little bit nicer. Over all, the things you mentioned basically. I do love Vietnam, especially north part. However, the amount of bikes and noises & lack off rules, drove me nuts. Their food is great though. Bangkok, for me is way too crowded, less English speaking, even though they may have more things there to choose from. I do enjoy being there like a few days, but definitely not a long term. Bars & clubs aren't my thing, so basically there's nothing much left after gone there for 1/2 a dozen times, every time, it seems to get busier. Moreover, their local food, isn't my fave. International food, yes. But Malaysia has those too. With that being said, I think all this 3 countries are great!!! We hope Malaysia continues to deliver... & yes, it's rather underrated, but is ok. 😊 Cheers from PJ/Malaysia
Just to add, for communication especially English, KL is far better than Ho Chin Minh or Bangkok & that has always been cited by foreigners/expatriates as one key advantage of not only KL but Malaysia.
I think KL scores highly across the board.I lived in HCMC for a long time and it's a brilliant city in your early 20s maybe even early 30s but after that I think KL is much better if you have a family. All 3 are really safe ,motorbikes are the most dangerous thing in all 3.
I am Malay. Malaysian I love to travel. I love food. I go to Bangkok for entertainment. I go to Ho Chi Min for shopping. But, Malaysia have a lot lot of varieties of food. Cos we have so many races, hey.. you can have Vietnamese, Thai & Indonesian food in here too. We don't need to travel for food anymore. 🤣
After traveling all over south east Asia I have the same opinion. If u are single u might prefer Saigon or Bangkok. But if u have family definitely KL is the best.
I would like to update more information about Bangkok in 2022. - Both of Airports in Bangkok have skytrain. - Bangkok has more new lines of sky train or underground train. You can explore more area in Bangkok very easier and cheaper than the past. - Bangkok has more apartment more buildings for you to choose than the past. - Traffic is better than the past. - Bangkok has more Green parks, more green area.
Saigon is not tourism city. Its a finacial and economic center. So you would not feel interested. And Danang, Nhatrang, Dalat city would be the best choice for traveling.
I agree with your choice of KL out of the three mentioned cities if cost of living is not a factor. Bangkok and Saigon are very similar in terms of population density, congestion and air quality. However, if you included Da Nang in one of your choices, I would pick this city over KL in a heart beat.
One more thing about food in Malaysia... Malaysia is multiracial country, and of course u can eat such as many type of food around the world. U can eat Malay food, indian food, chinese food, thai food, indonesian food, arabic food, western food, italian food and so many more....
Proud PJ-rian here! And to our foreign friends, Petaling Jaya or PJ for short was originally developed in the mid-1940s as a satellite town to ease overpopulation in KL... But grew spectacularly over the decades to become a big city in its own right!
Hi.. I am Malaysian lives in Sabah.. Im agree with that fact.. Thank you for choosing KL.. May be you can try to go other city.. Next time.. May I suggest, Kota Kinabalu.. 🥰
HI Syah, before we had kids we visited KK many years ago and we loved it! Has it changed much in the last 10 years? We would love to bring our kids there :)
I also agree for living. For a visit, not as much. KL is comparatively "boring". I'm curious as to whether KL or Penang would be a better place to settle down. I'd imagine KL has a big advantage on air connectivity. But Penang has "beach community" feel. For people living in Hawaii, I'd think Penang would appeal to you more.
Im Malaysian and to be honest KL is the place for business minded people, its boring indeed. For me I moved back to Penang (hometown)from KL and loving it. Penang also have international airports, Qatar air offers direct flights to Europe. Penang has both mixed and balanced modern infrastructure and Nature. I could easily go to the beach after my working hours just using my old bike, and you don't have chance to do that in KL....NO WAY!. Well ...ask your self are you Nature loving Person or City Person.then u decide. :)
People from KL can always go to Port Dickson which is close by just like people in London going to Brighton during weekends and school holidays, cheers
Ya!... Penang is rite for you in terms closer to the City and easy to all accommodation needed.... Modern n easy to excess.... Perhaps they are lot of beautiful beaches and islands in SABAH.. TRENGGANU.. LANGKAWI... TIOMAN IS.... it's just far from the city...

I’d be happy to live in KL for a year! We’re slow travelers, so we normally spend at least a month in any city. Maybe look into some of the things you would like to do there, to see if you could fill a month. 🌺 Heidi
Thank you for that, very useful. These are the 3 cities that we have been looking at to live in from next year. We have spent time in all of them. some more than others. But I think we will be going to Bangkok for a couple of years (59 years old, married and minimal ties) so our needs are slightly different to yours. We speak a little Thai, along with some very basic Vietnamese and Malaysian. But after a couple of years, it may be onto KL for us.
Hi, thanks for commenting! Glad it is useful and is still very current. Just an FYI, I don't know if you have been watching, and not trying to scare you, but lately the AQI in almost all of Thailand has been hazardous. We were in Hua Hin recently and even there it was over 160 every day. Chiang Mai continues to be the worst. Hopefully, Thailand will get their act together. Good luck to you both 🙏
there’s no LIFE in SG..let’s accept it.. most ppl lives there merely for 💰.. look at your foreign workforce numbers it doubles up your native citizen which says it all..
The food category is too much focused on imported food in my opinion. And thereby missing local markets altogether. If you want to live budget-friendly, markets are the way to go. Supermarkets in Bangkok can be very expensive compared to the markets, especially if you go for imported producst. And you can get a wide variety of vegetables and fruits and other things at the markets for a much more affordable price. I have not been to Saigon or KL but I can speak of Manila for example having spent some time there, going to markets is a great affordable option there as well. Since I am considering going to KL very soon, maybe someone can shed some light on food markets with local food in KL here?
So do you find that if you leave major cities the air is better? The playground in KL is so awesome. We don't drink either so I think KL is the place I want to go. I know some people who live in Malaysia through youtube, so maybe I will have some connections.
Hi @Pixics, excellent question. This is a yes and no answer. If they are burning in Kalimantan state of Indonesia ( on Borneo ) or on the island of Sumatra then it can be bad anywhere in Malaysia depending on where the wind blows. But without the burning almost all of Malaysia can have very good air quality. Sometimes even on par with Hawaii ;) Many years ago while in the Malaysian State of Sabah, the air was always super clean even though it is close to Kalimantan.
@@Pixics Rain forests on Borneo are burned to clear for palm oil plantations. So very sad. A local mentioned to us that it is often Malaysian companies burning on the Indonesian portion of the island, but not sure if that is accurate. 🌺 Heidi
@@KenshoQuest Yes, I think you get these giant industrial farms and plantations to meet global demand. Too bad people can't just go back to just focusing on their local communities
Yes some of these huge palm oil plantation in both Sumatera and Borneo are owned by Malaysian in collaboration with local Indonesian companies. They are the one who's responsible for open burning. In Malaysia they can't do it because of a very strict law against open burning, but when they venture into Indonesia, stuff they can't do in Malaysia, they do it in Indonesia. I'm ashamed of these Malaysian companies who own and operate these huge palm oil plantations in Indonesia. I hope Malaysian government can punish all these Malaysian companies who are responsible for open burning in Indonesia and exporting haze to Malaysia.
KL is best for family. It’s is very moderate and I would say a place that will respect women. It has a beautiful blend of Malay, Chinese and indian culture.
Some corrections here. The smoke that contributes to the bad air in KL,or more generally west Malaysia during drought season is mostly comes from Sumatera of Indonesia. The smoke from Borneo is unlikely movibg to west Malaysia.
There is a train at Don Muang airport. I was on it and my train broke down so had to get off and get taxi to the city. It’s a short walk from the airport terminal (about 1km)
@@KenshoQuest Hi, it was the old train and would have been back in 2013 when I was last on it. I’m fairly sure I was returning from Ayutthaya on a regional trip when the train broke down (typical train breakdowns :) )
@@nickd1750 Hi, and thanks for the update! I'm sure hoping the new BTS will be open soon! And sorry about the train breaking down, but it did give me a little chuckle. like you say, 'typical' :)
I am not sure about the burning in Borneo....but always had the information it is mainly from Sumatra ...Sumatra is comparatively nearer to KL than Borneo...the air quality only came into the news normally during the dry season of September
Fair review guys, you got all the parameters accurate.. BKK was better in terms of public transportation till recently KL managed to catch up or surpass them marginally after the completion of our MRT in 2017.. when it comes to food nobody could beat Thai in general.. hands down
I used to think Thai food was the best. But the more time I spend in both Vietnam and Malaysia i'm feeling the food in both Vietnam and Malaysia is equally good. What I find amazing is how different the food can be from country to country even though they are relatively close.
I think each of the 3 countries offer a very good food, be it in a proper restaurant or street food. But when it comes to the diversity of food, I think KL is more diverse because you can get almost all types of food from European, American, Middle Eastern, African, Latin America, Japanese, Korean and of course the Malay, Peranakan, Borneon, Chinese, Indian and lots of other ethnic and regional varieties. You won't have a problem of having to eat the same thing in Malaysia. If you are bored with Malay food, you can always have a choice of Chinese (which also diverse in itself with Cantonese, Hokkien, Hakka, Teochew cuisine, etc) and Indian (also diverse with Tamil, Punjabi, Benggoli, Kerala, Chettinad cuisine etc.), and other regional and ethnically special cuisine).
Actually you can also have Vietnamese food in Malaysia. There are lots of Vietnamese Restaurant in KL that specialise on Vietnamese food where you can get standard Vietnamese dishes there. As for Thai food in Malaysia, if you live in KL longer you will realise that at night time particularly in Malay residential area, the Thai restaurant ( in Malay we call it kedai or warung Tom Yam) are all over the place. They have conquered the night food scene in many Malay areas in KL. These numerous Tom Yam restaurants are mostly operated by the Malays who came from Southern Thailand. Because of the language, cultural and ethnic similarities between Malays in Malaysia and Malays in Southern Thailand, they brought the Thai cuisine into our shore, and we in Malaysia are pretty spoilt with choice when it comes to Thai food. Hahaha
@@nusabudiman Lol lol lol you think only KL has diversity of food? lol you must be joking. Sure, KL has Chinese, Malay, Arabic, etc but Bangkok has those too, but most of them are already part of thai food. Biryani, Roti Chennai, HK BBQ roasted pork, Satay, rice noodles, are all part of Thai food but they have origins from China, India, Arabic countries, etc. There are also plenty of American fast food chains. On top of that, Thailand has way more michelin star restaurants and considered as the world's best street food country. So don't be bias because Thailand is clearly the winner for food.
air quality is moderate at current point, thank you to forest burning in Indonesia. Singapore and Malaysia suffer the same every year almost similar time, never changed for the past 2 decades.

Crime cases in bangkok was so high, almost every thai people have a gun, be careful if u live in downtown especially the pub area.. almost everydays got crime news where they shoot & kill each others.. while in KL the crime was much more lower..
Most foreigners just read numbers and ignorant to outside world
You are right.
Every thai people have gun?👎👎
We are just have a beautiful heart ❤️
Thank you for choosing Kuala Lumpur. Lot’s of love ❤️

Nice video guys. :) I've been to all 3 cities and agree.
Thanks for watching! Whereabouts are you all during these crazy times? Any travel plans?
Totally agreed, KL is still the best, but for family and retirees Ipoh is the first choice
We've heard many good things about Ipoh, thanks for mentioning it! We need to visit.
My hometown is at Ipoh and currently living in KL
Why do you think Ipoh is the best choice for retirees?
To me, Taiping is a better place for family and retirees.

Kuala Lumpur.. 😍❤️🇲🇾
Thank you for choosing KL.. but I think the food is the best in Malaysia..
Fair comments.
To live, KL is the best to live. Easy to adapt as English is more widely spoken comparing to those cities and at the same time, to learn Chinese too. (Best combination of English and Chinese as if you have 'conquered the most universal and most spoken language on earth).
We have superb medical facility
although (I feel our medical tourism marketing isn't as aggressive as in Bangkok).
KL has big selection of affordable and luxury living (depending on individual financial ability and their choice)
In contrast, I personally like Thailand for tourism purposes and to 'wind down'.
Am proud to be Malaysian and is a perfect place in an imperfect way.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge! Very well said.
we speak english and MALAY here.after all it's MALAYsia
Ya main is malay languange... Then english... This is Malaysia not China...
Chinese is not really a required language for foreigners or anyone to live in KL.
sounds like a fair review!
Thank you!
My selection is also K.L.

Vietnamese girl are beautiful too.
Cheers from PJ/Malaysia
Thank you! I agree all countries are great and will only get better! I also loooove Vietnamese food!!!
@@KenshoQuest Vietnamese food is good indeed! :-)
Just to add, for communication especially English, KL is far better than Ho Chin Minh or Bangkok & that has always been cited by foreigners/expatriates as one key advantage of not only KL but Malaysia.
Malaysia truly asia
I think KL scores highly across the board.I lived in HCMC for a long time and it's a brilliant city in your early 20s maybe even early 30s but after that I think KL is much better if you have a family. All 3 are really safe ,motorbikes are the most dangerous thing in all 3.

Both bangkok and Saigon are great places for hoilday and shopping, KL is ideal for retirement and, to settle down...

I love to travel.
We Malaysians are proud & pls do more content about Kuala Lumpur, we do love to watch it. Subscribed ❤️ Stay safe xx
Thank you so much! We'll do our best. Stay safe as well!!
Yes the truth Malaysian people very friendly and helpful.
Let's be real KL is the winner on everything. They just tried to be nice and gave others some points.
Great! live in KL and spend money for vacation in Thailand! 😊❤
Saigon is not tourism city. Its a finacial and economic center. So you would not feel interested. And Danang, Nhatrang, Dalat city would be the best choice for traveling.
Overall Saigon is not a very easy place to live in as compared to Bangkok and KL.
I agree with your choice of KL out of the three mentioned cities if cost of living is not a factor. Bangkok and Saigon are very similar in terms of population density, congestion and air quality. However, if you included Da Nang in one of your choices, I would pick this city over KL in a heart beat.
We do like Danang as well :)
🇲🇾 beautiful city Kuala Lumpur 👌
One more thing about food in Malaysia... Malaysia is multiracial country, and of course u can eat such as many type of food around the world. U can eat Malay food, indian food, chinese food, thai food, indonesian food, arabic food, western food, italian food and so many more....
Any one from KL here?
Transportation and roads in Malaysia are wonderful. One can reach the beaches easily.
@@Nathan-rp8cg I dont mind Penang for its close proximity to Thailand..

I’d be happy to live in KL for a year! We’re slow travelers, so we normally spend at least a month in any city. Maybe look into some of the things you would like to do there, to see if you could fill a month. 🌺 Heidi
Im from KL and I'm proud of it..come back to Malaysia after the pandemic over🙏
Thank you, we hope to return soon!
Good luck to you both 🙏
@@KenshoQuest - yeah, thanks, been watching the Bangkok AQI for the last couple of weeks. Not great.
KL is the second best city after Singapore..
Btw, Singapore is a country. They are doing capital city comparison
Singapore has gotten Way Way too expensive; condo prices have more than Doubled in last Decade n still going up
there’s no LIFE in SG..let’s accept it.. most ppl lives there merely for 💰.. look at your foreign workforce numbers it doubles up your native citizen which says it all..
singapore has near zero diversity. all commercial, estates mrt shops looked the same. could be a good point but yeah...
Bangkok is way better than KL. That's why it's the world's most visited city with the most number of expats. lol
Yesss...K.L.Thank you for choosing KL.We love you !
@@KenshoQuest You mean they burn their forest, I've never heard of this practice before.

Bangkok is the BEST !!!
KL is best for family. It’s is very moderate and I would say a place that will respect women. It has a beautiful blend of Malay, Chinese and indian culture.
cause malay very friendly that why other races good .
Some corrections here. The smoke that contributes to the bad air in KL,or more generally west Malaysia during drought season is mostly comes from Sumatera of Indonesia. The smoke from Borneo is unlikely movibg to west Malaysia.
This is correct . I have never heard of the smog coming From Borneo to here

Thai is best when it comes to food.... Said nobody ever. Lol
air quality is moderate at current point, thank you to forest burning in Indonesia. Singapore and Malaysia suffer the same every year almost similar time, never changed for the past 2 decades.
We sure hope this will change. What can we do to get Indonesia to stop burning??
