Proud to own 7 of your top 10 and not a single one has let me down. Thanks for making great quality products that help make hand tool woodworking a pleasure.
The adjustar seems like a genuinely clever product. I'll have to pick up a few of them. Thank you for mentioning the folks you got the ideas from. Unusual to see people giving credit for that type of thing.
Just received my dovetail saw, first impression is of a high quality tool, a quick test cut confirmed that. Have some boxes to make next, that should prove the quality of the saw. I've already own far too many adjustars! A really clever idea which makes fine adjustment of a bench plane so much easier.
I keep bees, which means I steal their honey and that leaves me with lots of beeswax. I find a beeswax/mineral oil mix to be a great lubricant for my hand planes. It also works great as a lubricant for screw threads, as a general rust inhibitor for all unfinished tool steel, a food safe finish, to soften your rough hands, or to ease the unpleasantness of chapped lips. I just ordered a tube of Magic Wax and I'm looking forward to putting it up head-to-head against my beeswax concoction.
Awe man I literally just ordered the shooting grip and didn't see the cover option on otherwise I would have gotten that. Still waiting for it the goodies to arrive. Canada Post pretty good, USPS not so much.
One good thing about hand tools - they won't cut your fingers off or throw a wood block into your eye. If woodworking is a hobby, they are the best. I only know one amateur woodworker and he had his finger nicked by a table saw and had to go to emergency.
NOBODY that purchases from Rob is looking for low cost. They’re looking for quality products that they are willing to spend the extra buck. Of course most of the most sold items are the cheap stuff on his website. But that goes for everything in every store.
I did get some of your plane sole wax. It does work, but I found some thing I like a lot better. The product is called Slick Stick, and I got it from Woodturner's Wonders. It is intended for helping keep CBN wheels clean, but I found it a bit sticky for that unless applied to the bevel of your tool rather than to the wheel. I also use it on my bandsaw blades when cutting up wet turning blanks to keep the gunk off of the wheel. On a whim, I tried it on my hand planes. It really works nice. I may have to try your star knobs for my planes. I didn't know they all used the same thread on the advance/retract screw. I have some old planes that they may not work on, including 2 that are reverse threaded compared to the modern threads.
I bought Mr Cosman's dovetail saw to support his channel despite my thinking that it was a tad too expensive. Turns out I was mistaken it is by far the best handsaw I have ever used. A double win.
In the last 12 months, I've bought Shawn shim Honerite Gold Dovetail marking knife A thin steel rule for sharpening plane irons Two Adjustars Three out of five are Rob's, as Honerite & steel rules are easy enough to get here in the UK. I really want one of Rob's dovetail saws but will have to wait until I'm over the Pond again in November.
OK, I'll give this a shot, see how I do. #1 Dovetail Saw or 5 1/2 plane #2 5 1/2 plane or Dovetail Saw #3 RC Hand plane Shooting Grip #4 Adjustar #5 RC Panel Saws #6 Kerfex10 #8 16k Shapton Sharpening Stone #7 RC 300/1000 Diamond Stone #9 RC Panel Gauge #10 Carvers Mallet
I’m seeing some Stanley 5 1/2s on eBay. Is a smooth sole better or the corrugated one? And I’m seeing Stanley Bailey. I’m looking to get my first plane other than the couple of block planes I have
All very cool hopefully your new RC hand plane will come out soon waiting for it I was just in the process of ordering a wood river and saw on one of your live events that you are working on it so I'll keep using my old beet up #5 for awhile longer thanks to everyone at RC for the great tools and videos
Rob I've got a question. I've been trying to make wooden dowels out of birch and poplar and I will plan on making them out of maple but every dowel I make no matter how I make it with a chisel and block of wood or with a Dowel making jig they all come out really splintery and rough. How do you accurately sand your homemade dowels down to size?
Tool must be sharp, cutting angle has to be adjusted to the species and this means a lot of trial and error. Blank needs to be as close as possible to the finished size to minimise stick removal. Dowel speed and feed rate needs to be correct. Another trial and error, dowel speed usually is fast but feed rate can really vary. I have always had to play around with the height of the cutter in relation to the top of the cutting circle.
@@RobCosmanWoodworking that's what I was afraid of. Just trial until it works. It takes some real time to make these hinges correctly. But they're awesome after the work
I have the AdjuStar and loved the idea and how it works ...I have another tool with Rob Cosman signature (out of list)...the Blade and chipbreak from IBC Pinnacle by Rob Cosman...that amazing tool...I can't find it in any place anymore Congratulations from Brazil
I have 8 out of the 10, plus others not on the list. Will be ordering the plane screws on my next order. Thanks Rob. Looking forward to seeing you in Orlando.
@@RobCosmanWoodworking I appreciate your videos. Any chance in the near future you can make a beginners kit with all basic tools needed to start? Sorry if you already have one I might've missed it.
I was surprised your dovetail marking knife made the list. The one I bought from you is the worst tool I have. When I found you had no customer service after the sale I decided I didn't anymore of your tools.
Of course buy a tool and find anything is wrong is not a good experience...but instead of give up at first you can send the tool not in good conditions back to RC in Canada...I can't believe they do not solve your problem and make you sad twice...unfortunately mistakes are for everyone (BMW or Porsche recall for example) but they (RC and everyone) need a chance to correct and make the answer of that problem beyond what we are expecting...please give they a chance they are professional and serious...the better world starts with us...
I am so sorry....That's not what we do. I just ran your email address through our sales data base and did not find you, but you could have purchased on a different email. If I had your phone number I would call you and take care of it. Please call Gina, at (888) 920-1442 or email me at Robswebmaster@robcosman.com and I will assist you.

Hi
This video is last year (i.e 2023) why the different link? Has someone hacked/impersonated you? Not game enough to click on the link!
OK, I tried and boy was I way off.
Proud to own 7 of your top 10 and not a single one has let me down. Thanks for making great quality products that help make hand tool woodworking a pleasure.
Glad you like them! Thanks for the comment

People deserve the credit
Making knife, Shawn shim, DT saw, all I've gotten! Also got your crosscut saw n hopefully one day one of your panel saws! You're a legend rob!!!
Thanks you so much for supporting us and our business

I dont think you can ever have too many adjustars!!!!!!
These are all so cool wow
Try them you will love them
The only one of those that really attracts my attention is the side handle for the shooting plane.
The Grip, www.robcosman.com
my guess is the shooting board glove. love mine
Already lost
Still....Its a good guess
Gotta have one of those handles for shooting board plane!!!
And love my RC (autographed!) dovetail saw!!
Its really amazing
Always wondering why plane manufacturers opt for flathead or pozidrive screws.

Please let me know the results
Can you get the adjustar without being threaded ? As i would want a few for some planes with reversed threads ?
Contact us through robcosman.com. , should be able to accommodate you.
@@RobCosmanWoodworking ok I've sent a message thanks .
I think the best tool investment I made was the Rob Cosman dovetail saw. It cut like a dream.
I couldn't agree more
Mine too, followed by my IBC chisels
Awe man I literally just ordered the shooting grip and didn't see the cover option on otherwise I would have gotten that. Still waiting for it the goodies to arrive. Canada Post pretty good, USPS not so much.
We dont have the cover on the website yet....maybe within the week
Do you have a video of making that toolbox. I would like to have a crack at making one.
Not yet
Don’t have any but will be changing that situation soon! 😂
I like the sound of that
OMG. I have all of those. Does that make me a RC groupie or some sort of tragic 👍😂👍
Nope, that makes you an awesome woodworker and a astute shopper

I totally agree with you
#1. Chapstick… lol 😂.
Its great
Untertitel in Deutsch bitte
would be good to get rid of the long-haired intro. I also think that this list shows folks are looking for low cost products
And hair has what to do with wood crafting???
we are working on it but it takes time
This is the most important takeaway from this video.
@@artswri I could see your point except that Rob literally cut it on one of his videos.

I love the idea of that Slick Stick, was looking at it recently. I think it’s like 12 bucks and probably would last for years.

Thanks for the comment and purchasing the saw
# 1 should be dovetail saw the best saw that can be bought. Great video thank you for sharing. Take care!👍🏻
Kent knows best !!!!
I've had my eye on one of your saws. They look like they work really well. And would suit my style of woodworking these days.
We have them on sale right now
Glad to help the cause. And Yes, Rob's custom Dovetail Saw is Sublime!! 😊
Thanks again!

I’m seeing some Stanley 5 1/2s on eBay. Is a smooth sole better or the corrugated one? And I’m seeing Stanley Bailey. I’m looking to get my first plane other than the couple of block planes I have
I don’t like the corrugated soles. A Stanley Bailey would be fine
Awesome thank you

I forgot to mention it's for your wooden hinge boxes ..they're really cool. I'm kind of broke so I made a wooden hinge drill based on your design.

Just got into woodworking after watching most of your videos. I went to buy a saw from you and seen it was over $270. That Sunk my ship. 😮
The dovetails you will be able to cut with it will have that ship sailing!
