Chevy chase was awesome in this just like the rest of the cast really missed him when he left. Every group needs a bad guy and he played one beautifully
From what I heard both him and Dan didnt get along and their spat just went too far the rest of the cast didnt have any issue with him. Plus he had issues with how his character was being made more racist and he said the breaking point is when dan made the whole crew to say fuck you to him. Anybody will get pissed on that specially someone who is as old as he is

He's one of those guys who's really smart and good at talking, and uses it to constantly make you look like an idiot. The kind that uses his words to get everyone to turn against you. The kind that uses his words to humiliate you and make you look like a dumb oaf. As much problems and racist shit chevy brought to community, i can see why he left after enduring all of dan harmon's shit.

Big issue was that he wasn't just playing an asshole... he took method acting a tad far.
