We never get to see him talking freely and verbalizing his thoughts so eloquently. He seems to be very intelligent and sophisticated both as an actor and as a person. And he's also one of the most charming actors ever and has a delightful personality and voice. It's a shame that interviewers never dig deeper into his thoughts... Really well conducted interview. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I could listen to him read the phone book, to quote Mad Men LOL. I deeply respect this man’s exemplary talent and passion about his Art... but I must add that DAMN this guy is freakin ADORABLE irl! He’s geeky and fidgety and his eyes have so much empathy - MEN WE LOVE
Love his acting style. 😍 Also in Outlander, my God he's brilliant. Playing two characters at once. And his love for Claire made me cry more than the love between Claire and Jamie. ❤🙏 I'll be your Claire, Tobias 🤭😇❤🙏
What an incredibly GOOD interview this was! I enjoyed every second of it. Tobias is the type of person that goes really deep into his thinking, and rarely gets the chance to talk so in depth, either because he is with other cast members and they have to share the time on screen, because the questions are too banal or because the time overall is limited. The host here did a fantastic job with her questions! She was asking similar questions as other interviewers but a lot meatier and totally rephrased. She was able to connect all his answers with her next question AND she let him speak, uninterrupted! Which gave us a full view of who Tobias is and the richness behind his acting, and I think this is what all of Tobias fans were dying to see. You can tell he enjoyed it as well as he got really passionate about his answers. Some well spent 30 minutes with an insanely talented actor. What a treat. 👏🏻👏🏻👌🏻
I like listening to him. Very intellectual and seems passionate about his career. I would love to just have a day to just speak with him. He appears to be down to earth. It would be such a joy.
His performance is one of the great small screen performances IMO. The midlife crisis episode with the Apollo 11 story is both beautifully written and directed and masterfully delivered by this guy.
Had a strange fascination with him after watching The Terror. Pretty amazing that he turned out to be an intelligent and humble human being, I realised after watching his interviews
Loved and respected your questions and hearing the actor's study of their character. Tobias seems most enthusiastic about the production. He is a fabulous actor!
I really enjoyed the small moment/domestic scenes between Colman and Menzies so much, and thought they were some of the best in the series aside from the Philip/Diana scene in the final episode of season 4. So many incredible performances here, though, collectively. What Menzies says about mimicry is interesting, particularly considering Gillian Anderson's performance. Tricky when actors are playing real people, to find the most effective way to embody a character rather than create a caricature. Interesting interview! Thank you!
I thoroughly enjoyed this interview with Tobias. It was very informative and technical and it made me appreciate his talent and skills even more than I already did from seeing him on Outlander. Thank you for doing your research and asking him such thought-filled questions!
Are you confusing character with actor again? It takes a huge talent and understanding of all people, good and bad, to be able to play someone that evil that well. In Tobias's case he also plays good well, though, all the way down to the eyes, something truly evil people can't do. Go back and watch Kevin Spacey's old performances. I missed it the first time because I wasn't looking for it, but there's a fakeness in some of his good characters that isn't there with Tobias. Menzies is always genuinely intrigued and affectionately amused by people in general, though, including his own characters and the people they fictitiously interact with. In that vein an evil character is just another person for him to study.
Huh? What Outlander “reputations”. You do know he is an actor right? He isn’t Jack Randall. What he did with the dual roles of Frank and Jack was extraordinary acting.... nothing less nothing more
The Terror, Outlander, Rome, The Night Manager, King Lear, Atonement, Finding Neverland, Black Sea, Game of Thrones, and those are just a few I have seen.... he is in many many great pieces
I know he's a sublime actor and everything. And that's the only thing I thought for a long while. But now I fancy him and the worst thing is that as Philip, he just does it for me. Ffs
Same same same lol. Sometimes in the quiet moments between Elizabeth and Philip he has this undercurrent of seduction and I get sucked in every time. It never fails.
I love watching how expressive he is with his physicality. I get distracted though, when he licks his lips. He's such a beautiful man, makes my mind go wild! He is a great actor, as someone else said... he's why I started watching the crown, and have sought out other movies he's been in.
There is something SO attractive about interviewers that just ask a question, often a deep and complicated question, and let the interviewee just get on with it and answer. These "at home" lockdown interviews are a real treat, with nuanced questions and the TIME for people to answer them. I am going to have a hard time going back to network, 5 minute, slapdash, "we have to go to a commercial" type interviews from here on in.
I remember so many people were complaining about the original young pretty cast of 'The Crown' being replaced with more mature actors. Olivia Colman may not be the most beautiful actress, but she has the attractiveness and intelligence that I love. And I can't get enough of her personality and sense of humor. Love her. This is the first time I've seen Tobia's in anything, and he's pretty damn good. In my opinion, I think he's better looking then Matt Smith.
He can't stay quiet and calm, he move his body and face as his thoughts. Modest, nice, a special artist
I love his acting. He often steals a scene.
Agreed.
Yea I love him a lot.
After his character was killed in Outlander I lost interest in the show. Too bad he can't come back as the child of Mary and Alex Randell.
he's so expressive with his hands!!! and him laughing/giggling is such a feel-good thing to see... what a man 😭
Hands down, sexiest voice around.
Watching Tobias passionately talking about his script work for 15 min is the best part. Never heard anything so deep in a film interview..
Oh My !!! My favorite actor from Outlander!!!!! I now watch The Crown because of him. So talented , I looked forward to see him in the future.
Love his acting style. 😍 Also in Outlander, my God he's brilliant. Playing two characters at once. And his love for Claire made me cry more than the love between Claire and Jamie. ❤🙏 I'll be your Claire, Tobias 🤭😇❤🙏
A masterclass in how to be an actor. Needs to be seen by every aspiring player. What an insight into the process!

How is his voice so deep? Jawline!!
Es un hombre encantador , no me canso de contemplarlo😊😍

Tobias is really a deep thinker, you can see how he talks with every part of himself. He is really just the best on everything I have watched him in!!
Loved and respected your questions and hearing the actor's study of their character. Tobias seems most enthusiastic about the production. He is a fabulous actor!

Ver Tobias ao natural nos faz perceber como é diferente quando está no personagem. Gentil e fica lindo quando ri

Interesting to see him and listen to how he hones his craft as an actor he is a really great one
What a challenge playing the now subdued Prince Philip in this series.
Tobias does a masterful job whatever is asked of him!
In spite of Tobias’ Outlander reputations, he is such a talented and lovely man.

(Please don't prove me wrong, Menzies, lol.)
Huh? What Outlander “reputations”. You do know he is an actor right? He isn’t Jack Randall. What he did with the dual roles of Frank and Jack was extraordinary acting.... nothing less nothing more
Fabulous actor! I love everything he does. Very much looking forward to the next season. Thank you for a great body of work to enjoy!
What a beautiful man. Every time I see him on screen I'm a little in love with him. Great actor!
Tobias is scary to me.... in most roles, but it's great to see him smile. Cute!
Great interview! Was so good to see Tobias - you have been missed!
I love this man!
Wonderful cerebral interview so interesting! A beautiful and very personal insight into the actor's process.
Excellent insight for actors
Haven’t seen season 4 yet but just watched episode 7 season 3 and you were awesome Tobias.
Such an INCREDIBLY intelligent interview! Love the deep thinking going on here. Great respect for the ideas and the actor here.
American here.... this guy needs some major roles going forward.
The Terror, Outlander, Rome, The Night Manager, King Lear, Atonement, Finding Neverland, Black Sea, Game of Thrones, and those are just a few I have seen.... he is in many many great pieces
Absolutely love Tobias moving his hands so much Lol I m Italian so ofc l like It ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🇬🇧🇮🇹
An amazing actor!
Very talented actor x
He’s a great actor though his character totally creeped me out in Outlander.
Black Jack Randall was a creep but we also haved Frank❣
Ditto! Means he played the character exceedingly well!!
Que ator meus amigos! Maravilhoso em todos os sentidos! ❤️
Great interview!
Great interview
Wondering if he would marry a woman 22yo younger than him hahaha OMG I love this man!
I wonder that too lol
I know he's a sublime actor and everything. And that's the only thing I thought for a long while.

Same same same lol. Sometimes in the quiet moments between Elizabeth and Philip he has this undercurrent of seduction and I get sucked in every time. It never fails.
He did an amazing job, one character is scary and I dont like him, then the other character (Frank), I do like him and I'm on his side!

Goodlooking man + manly voice = perfect combo :)

I agree he's Gorgeous ❤️
You should watch Outlander. Tobias is amazingly good in that show.
Loved this interview, what a class act and thoughtful human. Excellent questions and pace!!
I would love to seee him on the stage.
100%, was he supposed to be in anything this year (before the lockdown cancellations)?
He smiles and the sun comes out!
Class actor
His Prince Philip is even better than Randall. Absolutely brilliant.
