  • From the Basie-Straight Ahead recording of 1968 featuring the legendary Count Basie, Harold Jones, Grover Mitchell, Marshall Royal and Freddie Green, highlights here include a recurring alto/trumpet duet, a sax section soli, trumpet plungers, piano solos, and an ensemble shout to take it all home. what the, bruh were playing this in my high school jazz band class and well its my first time playing jazz (i play alto sax aka the hardest part) and man this is so hard especially when they make us play this super fast

      james wright Alto Sac is definitely not the hardest part in this piece, the piano has to learn all the different solos, and there are 2 chord progression parts where you have to improvise chords

      james wright I’m sure that Alto is tough, but I don’t think it’s as hard as the piano pat

      james wright || I was playing the rhythm guitar part on this. Needless to say some of the chord changes are difficult to play since they happen so fast. I wish you luck learning you part for this song. It’s a fun one :)

    This is a more recent recording featuring the non-Professional version of Hay Burner, but not from the Basie Straight Ahead album.

    verry good arrangement, but not the basie band, the original grooves like hell, Basie didnt play Nesticos noted solo

    • @lurchamok8137
      @lurchamok8137 7 лет назад

      Because Nestico was his arranger???
      Basie's solo was quite close to the noted stuff anyway and this "Kendor Band is horrible"

      I know your comment is a year old, but what's so horrible about the band playing? Nobody can replicate the sound of the Basie Band, but their pretty damn close.
