I would love to do something like this, would make time pass so much quicker lately, especially living next to the ocean in the UK. Unfortunatly most drones, and definatly ROV's are way out of my price range as I am disabled and low income. This is the main reason I watch your videos, as I could never afford one of these, and live vicariously thorugh you and several other youtubers. I would have so much fun with something like this as there are a ton of beaches, rock formations, and deep water less than 2 miles from my home. Maybe one day if I were to win the lottery, or something! Thanks for your videos, and if you ever upgrade or get a new one, feel free to think of me in the UK! :P Have fun and navigate safe!

It really helps with any ROV to have a tether monitor person. I look at the abrasion on these rocks nit to mention if "Murphy" caused the reel to fall into the water. Good review as usual for you.
You and your family really won the geographic lottery being born where you are. What an amazing place to live and grow up. The view you have simply taking out the garbage would be breathtaking compared to the city dump i live in. Dont get me wrong its fine here and there is beauty to be found, but these videos are just endless beautiful sights. Thanks for sharing it.
We did. Just too expensive to live here for us 😔. The wealthy will take over Hawaii soon and the low-middle class locals enjoying life here will all be moving away to more affordable states.
@@DustinDunnill if that happens there is room for you all in massachusetts bro. Youll need to buy a nice coat, and get an indoor drone, but three seasons here are amazing flying weather. Rock on buddy
These underwater ROV are so epic. I am considering the dory or the gladious. It would be interesting to take out on a kayak and go to different areas and have it dive down.
Always enjoy your videos Dustin. keep it up. Mavic Mini 2 review coming? theyre claiming 10k now. you better be moving fast to get that far and back in 30 minutes....lol
Great location and video, Dustin. Thanks. I have the Gladius Mini ROV and find that the cable dragging through the water causes some steering problems at times, especially when any significant water currents are present. While the Gladius Mini has a sleek perimeter design that won't snag the cable, it looks like your Titan T1 cable may have become entangled on one of the motor pilons which might have accounted for the steering deviations. It looks like Geneinno needs to redesign the T1 so the cable won't get snagged on the motors. Wouldn't it be nice if underwater ROVs had similar technology to aerial drone features and automatically track objects, etc? Maybe Skydio will get into the ROV market next.
I get annoyed when you do RC car stuff because I came here for planes. But this is actually pretty amazing and even though the rivers around me aren't as cool as the oceans around you I might want to try something like this.
I wish the all the ROV companies would make a strain relief where the tether connector enters the ROV. The tethers will lose their continuity over time. Thanks for the review! I am searching for another rov with a claw. Looks like I will keep looking.
Hey man. i recently just purchased the CHASING M2 rov, it has an arm and proper control plus the fps is quite good for the device you use to stream. It's really good but also quite expensive Edit: Forgot to mention that it too has a strain relief spoiler cable tether so it doesn't strain the inner screw valve of the input plug, that was something i looked into beforehand, and i totally agree with you.
It's not only the sub itself that is subjected to the currents around it, but also the tether, and as it gets further away in moving water like this, the more it will restrict and affect the sub's movements. I think this video is a real testament to what this device can do. That was like taking a Mavic 2 into 50 kt of wind...
For $3,100? This toy is underpowered. I would rather just buy the $5,000-$6,000 bulkier one for serious underwater exploration rov. I might even bring up a few lobsters & flounders for dinner. But yeah, just attach a metal detector with a claw & go treasure hunting..
@@spookynuts7148 ^ If you are going to spend thousands on a underwater ROV.. Just get a Deep Trekker DTG3, dont waste time with these toys. The DTG3 is designed for heavy commercial use.
It’s funny because I saw the cable was wrapped around the drone at the start and every time you ran into the veer left problem I’m thinking “it’s the cable wrapped around the left motor...” 😂
Wow how awesome is this ;) great video Dustin ;) gave u a shoutout in my 9000 feet video ;) actually showed everyone how far away u really are since everyone wants me to fly me evo 2 to u hahahahahaha
Strange they did not hard wire the video out to controller via tether for no signal issues. Cool swim. Those reefs have very few feather dusters or polyps is seems.
Yes you are correct we had a firmware update notification while gladius mini was in the water and if weren't for tether It would have been lost we couldn't rise or descend and reverse would have been to risky if snags around as camera is front facing only in most mountable cameras
Hey Dustin - Shout out from Hana - love your videos and analysis - I want an ROV - what is the best underwater drone in your opinion? Price no option. Also when are you going to do a Autel Dragonfish drone review? I want to see that! Mahalo!
the connection to the drone and wifi antenna on the spool is by cable. connection between controller and antenna is wifi. live preview is probably sketchy in favor for using more bandwidth for recording in 4K - since you'll probably view that back at home.
@@JimmPratt It doesn’t record 4K with an onboard card? If they already are sending 4K, why spend any bandwidth for a separate feed? This video made me definitely decide not to pick up this drone. The FPV is just terrible and a huge disappointment.
@@octosoft I am pretty sure it is not sending two feeds. It makes more sense to record in 4K, then downsample to something the tablet can handle for displaying in the drone app - it can be quite processor intensive to record *and* display 4K at the same time. So it's most likely recording in 4K (4096 x 2160) for later viewing at home (for example), but displaying at the iPad Air 2's native 2048 x 1536. And the more I think about it, it's probably more like HD (1280x720-ish also known as 720p) or even 480p for viewing the live feed in order to keep the frame-rate reasonable. The iPad's little 1.5GHz A8X CPU/GPU combo processor probably doesn't have enough 'horsepower' to be able to record *and* display at 4K even if the display was capable of it (it's not). Plus you got limitations in CPU/GPU/Memory bandwidth. There are challenges in how fast it can transfer video to storage, *and* run iOS, *and* the drone app *and* displaying a lower res live feed, *and* manage the wifi connection, and so on. Recording onboard would be nice, but would add to development costs in either integrating a fixed memory card, or even removeable SD card and keep everything water-tight.
Thank you, I didn’t know this type drone even exists, to bad batter power doesn’t feed from real, that way you could change battery or plug in to external power supply. How much dose it coast?
a LOT OF ISSUES AND NOT REALLY WHAT I EXPECTED AND IT LOOKS LIKE A BATH TUB TOY WITH PROPELLERS, PRETTY HARD TO RELAX WHEN ITS CONSTANTLY GOING EVERYWHERE. BUT THANKS FOR THE REVIEW ====
If they make a dronesub, they won't need a tether line 😬🤣🤣. Rth would be, it flys out of the water like a drone would do and land at home like a drone would do
the fact that it has no type of connection to the body of the drone for a rope to be attached makes it useless , you dont wanna be lowering and pulling from the bottom with the tether or you wont have it for long lol
All the data is going through the tether, wireless radio won't penetrate water more than at most a few meters on the frequencies that are legally allowed.
I have been watching Fi fish videos and it seems like their unit has better clarity than yours the problem navigation and it quits recording has me spooked
I really didn't find this sub all that impressive as far as the claw goes. when you grabbed that mooring buoy it was clearly anchored around the base of that big coral you probably could have lifted the buoy if the claw had more grip power. and the constant left turn only what's the deal with that. the video was the best part when the turtle swam up you could have got some great shots in burst mode. Aside from the video I'd say this sub was a bust.
