After your foam dries you can sand it with a fine grit sandpaper if you want to smooth out certain areas. To have a smoother effect. But, I ❤what you created!! It’s amazing!! You really have to have great imagination to create something so spectacular!!
What an awesome creature. You worked so long and so hard him and you deserve many accolades for it. Great tutorial on how you made it, thank you for that.
You definitely deserve a comment sir. Thank you for the long hours, days, months that it took to build this creature! It is awesome! Also, thank you for the in depth tutorial. I hope you have great, spooky lighting for it at your yard haunt.
Ha! I will say with humility that it is the coolest one beyond the block because very few homes decorate in my neighborhood. That's why I have so many kids co ing over!
Wow!!!!! A-Maz-Ing!!! Thank you so much for making this video! What a labor of love and even maybe hate at times. Wish I lived closer, would love to see it in person 👻
Wow man that is an amazing piece! I do a pumpkin patch in my yard and have made around 40 spray foam pumpkins and I'm so glad I saw this video cause I will definitely be doing loctite from now on. Great job again man!!! Josh
He's looking awesome! I love the head so much! These big props are such a labor of love - it's easy to see the value of the ones you see for sale for thousands of dollars when you make one yourself 😂 I made a copy of a large styrofoam head by covering it with tinfoil and heat shrinking painters drop plastic - 1 mill - over it. I think I could add some wire in between layers of plastic to add support, but they're pretty light. I'm not sure how much detail you could get but it might work to make a lighter copy of your head.
Thanks for your comment Travis! I was learning as I was going so live and learn! A much lighter head will be key for success. I might consider doing a paper maché one if I do this project again!
I wonder if, instead of the 50 dollar a can rubber paste, if a person could crackle paint it (where you paint on glue first, then paint over the glue while it's still tacky) to get a bark look, or maybe using Alan Hopps' plastic corpsing method? Not that the rubber paste doesn't look good, but to cut down on the cost. I like using the cheap latex caulking for skinning a variety of monsters. It can be brushed or kind of sculpted before it dries to get some pretty interesting textures, so that might be an option as well. One of those might be worth a test if someone is attempting this build. HTH.
It came out awesome! How about a skeleton made out of multiple skeletons with lots of skulls on its body and the skull heads attached to its body throw out fog and a black mesh can be its robe?
I love the idea for a future creation! I personally think that it's better to leave your suggestion to a seperate project. Less is more. Thanks so much for your comment!
Hi! Thanks formyour question. It's a 12V, 10A variable speed contoller. You want variable because you want to ease the stress on the motor and connectors. Do a search on Amazon with the following description. This is a copy/paste. Good luck! 12V-40V 10A PWM DC Motor Governor, Motor Speed Controller Module PWM PWM DC Motor Governor Stepless Variable Speed Control Switch Module
Wow! You put a lot of time and effort into personalizing this animatronic and making it your own. Bravo from a fellow Montrealer. The extra weight on your creature's head is not a luxury. Nov 1st 2020 and 2021 I found myself picking parts of my yard display up in the street (Mercier Est) because we had strong winds early the morning after Halloween. Good plan to have your creature on wheels to be able to wheel him (It?) inside when you close up shop. But I imagine the weight of the head would help keep it on and keep your creature down on Halloween night. What do you use as a sealant against the rain? Last year (2021) was brutal. Thanks for the in depth video. I cannot help but admire your patience in bringing your creature to life.
Salut André! No need for sealant since the vines are covered with Flex Paste (a rubber paste) and the power and controller are in a sealed dollar store Tupperware. The head is heavy and it’s best to have 2 people wheel it in and out of the garage. Remember that the motor moving the head is a wiper motor so it’s relatively water resistant. I remember the rain we had the last two years. Brutal! 😁
Hi Virginia! Thanks for your nice comment! Just two LED flame lightbulbs (one in the head and one in the heart ; the latter wrapped in bubble wrap) attached to an extension cord that i ran into the vines. Start working on it for next year! You’ll love the process and make it your own!
That thing is nasty! (in the good way) I really like what you did with the head. Thank you for sharing your process and clips from the build.

This is an awesome tutorial. I love that you tell people what products you used to make the sculpture.
Great job he is very cool and you are very talented. Very awesome

Went to your house yesterday, coolest place ever!
Holy Schnikies Batman!!! That. Is. Awesome! I eagerly await for more videos of your brilliant creativity.
You are too kind! More videos after Halloween 2022 since there’s so much to do in the next month!🤣

You are so kind! Thanks! All the best!
This is awesome!
Love this so much!! The "mistake" foam did make it look like it is so organic, rotten, evil? Got to be the coolest prop on the block.

Incredible project!!!!
Thanks David!
that's Fantastic very nice work !! HFL!!
Wow!!! Have the perfect spot for it.
Yes! Between my two garage doors since it attracts kids to enter the path from one door to another. 😁
GREAT JOB! Can you tell me what speed controller you used for the 12 volt motor?
