Living in the tropics and loving crochet and knitting, I was delighted to recently find a Woollen Mills in my country that I use to support, now sells 4, 8 & 10 ply 100% cotton in 200gm balls. In the past two weeks, they have introduced a Twisted Cotton which has a great handle and while not a huge number of colours, their colors are lovely. The method you show here would be ideally suited in the 4 ply. So thank you.
Thank you so much, I love the way to teach, just like my Mother, and you use graph paper and I love it, that is how I do it. God Bless you keep it up just love your way,
Thank you. This is the only video that I found using the triangle shape for filet crochet. I am thinking this technique would lend itself nicely to use with Stitch Fiddle for incorporating a design, something simple like a symmetrical silhouette.
I just love this pattern I've never thought of making a shawl like this I always do the granny stich three double crochet together I'm definitely going to make this one this is awesome thanks my friend ☺☺☺☺👍👍👍👍👍 best regards Peter
The granny stitch is one of my favorites as it's simple, versatile, and allows the mind to wander while being productive. If you enjoy the granny stitch style you should check out the cardigan series I did recently. Also hope to do a vest soon as well. 😉
You're a great teacher I love customizing one row repeats. I have some slow changing color cotton fingering weight yarn this pattern would be good for. Thank you so much for your help
This might be a stupid question, but I'll ask it anyway. Could I follow your basic instructions (when you're using the red yarn) and instead of working DC into the previous DC, work them into the chain spaces? I'm thinking I would still increase the same way you are at the beginning and ending of the rows. Thoughts? Also, thank you for this tutorial!
Questions are never stupid, unless you already know the answer 😉. It sounds like it would work structurally but if you work into the spaces would lose the grid formation. Give it a try, experiment, learn, above all - have fun with it!
I think I can do this one most of the time I try one it goes good until the video stops then i lose myself. With that how many rows should I do. I don't think I could do a chart although I do love the brown one you have started. I am dyslexic and it's hard for me to follow patterns even when its a repeat I can follow the videos fairly well but I want to try this one. I do well with finding my stitches so I think I can do this.
I have found that with time, patience, and a bit of humility - one can do most anything! Charting a graphed pattern can be a fun way to personalize this shawl, but it is by no means necessary. Sometimes simplicity is its own beauty. 😊 As for how many rows, just keep going till the two triangle tips go past the fingertips of your outstretched arms, that's how I gauge the size, or whatever works for you. You can do it! 😄
Liz S what hole didn't you like? The Starting circle or the chain1 spaces? If you want arm spaces, you can just chain26 or bigger or smaller in the place where you want the arms to be. Watch the versatile Caron vest of Fiber Spider for the armholes. He explains is so wonderfully.
Hi Fiber Spider, I love your tutorials. I've previously made this shawl and loved doing it as it was so easy - I was wondering if you would every consider doing this as a blanket. Thank you from the UK
I love it, I'm on my second baby star blanket, as soon as I'm done I'm going to make this with unforgettable yarn. I have a wedding in September so I'm going to wear it for that! Thanks!
I love your tutorials, I took up crocheting again about a year ago and find following written patterns hard, but your instructions are so very easy and i love the things you crochet. Thank You so much for helping people like me. (Left handed) You are a great teacher. I always look for your tutorials..
Thank you so much for your tutorials. You make them fun interesting and open for our own interpretation. The shawls you create are stunning. May be with some practice I shall master them. Thank you for your time and creations.x

Why not do a long chain, and work the blanket that way instead.

Can you please teach me how to make crochet corners for hankerchief and how to attach it to the hanky
Thank you so much for your tutorials. I do have one question. What edging would you suggest for the shawl?
Great Idea !
I can't wait to make a shawl for charity using this pattern!!
Go for it! Charity is the gift that keeps giving 😊 Best of all you can make it completely unique if you choose to design one yourself! 👍
Do you know the road trip shawl? Can you make a tutorial of it?
Can you do this with thinner yarn like a lacey yarn?
Of course, you can use whatever yarn you like.

@@FiberSpider Thanks!! Sometimes I need reminders that it's just yarn and it can be frogged and started over (and over). LOL
HA! how funny, I just did this shawl, only I did it top down, opposite yours!

I just did a small sample of this and didn't like the size of the hole, so I'm going to make it smaller, but can I had arm holes to it?
