Hi Mike, I've got a question for a helmet expert like you about the chin straps of the original German WW2 Stahlhelme. I know they were leather, but were they black (like the Y-strap), or were they brown?
In my experience, most were like the Ystraps, and black on the outside (rough side) and brown on the inside (smooth side). I've seen all brown ones as well, especially with the Luftwaffe, but it's not consistent.

How do the falshemyeager liner sit are they high like most reproductions? They look nice Mike
Depends on your head, but yes, for me they sit a bit high. Some people know how to correct/mitigate that, I do not.
