The best Fish and Chip in Britain is at Anstruther Fish and Chip Bar. Although located in a fishing village in Fife it has a constant queue for takeaways in which the Restraint is always busy. It is even visited and recommended by the Royal family in which its reputation is renowned.
Very honest review, can’t give everyone a gold star! Those chips did look pale (they looked a bit stale but that was probably just the angle of the shot). If you’re gonna charge those prices you’ve got to keep your standards high & give the customers the deliciousness they’re expecting! Thanks for giving it an honest score - very interesting!👍👍
Welcomed honest opinion rather than another fudged (out of this world, terrific unbeatable) review I heard from this very place recently. My fave Chippy Steels of Cleethorpes only 10 out of 10 I have given.
I think you have a very particular taste for fish and chips it would be really hard to find the perfect fish and chips with all of the things your wanting including mushy peas that don’t taste like or feel like peas and chips that don’t taste like potato :D
I think with the potato thing hes referring to undercooked chips that have the earthy potato taste which isn't really pleasant, unfortunately so many chip shops don't seem to know how to do chips very well and end up like that. The peas thing may be a bit unusual though lol
Another great review/watch. Best fish, chips and mushy peas I have ever had was in Southampton Premier Inn Restaurant. 10/10. I ordered cod, chips and mushy peas. Husband had scampi, chips and mushy peas. He rated it 10/10. Just in case you have people that are wheelchair bound like me watching, they catered for all my needs.
Chips are anaemic - the two best places I have had are Terry's in Whitby just along from the Magpie - sit upstairs and look out over the harbour whilst enjoying fresh cod and chips - and the Fryery in Haltwhistle - picking my daughter up from University of Cumbria on a Friday night we couldn't go past it on the return journey to get her fresh fish and chips

Oh wow was you there today? I have left there at 4pm and had considered papas today but didn't go in back home now after a fantastic few days. Would have been great to see you
I went in their two weeks ago decided to try it to see what all the hype was, they did not have any other soft drinks so I ordered a bottle of water instead, then other people were ordering the larger fish dinners which came on wooden plates, for me the medium is as good as it gets because it is enough I thought the fish was good a little bland but the batter was nice and crunchy, as for the chips it depends what kind of potatoes they use I thought the chips were a little on the greasy side but it was all edible, I went twice I would not say it was the best fish and chips I have ever tasted that would be The Fish Works in Largs in scotland, considering that Blackpool has other places I would try somewhere else the next time.
