I think it stems from Angola in Africa, many breakdancing moves also stem from African tribes. At least the seed of what eventually became Capoeira stemmed from Africa. Similar to Parkour, a French army or naval higher ranking officer on duty in Africa was so impressed and inspired by seeing certain African men performing acrobatic feats on a daily basis, he wanted his men to have similar agility and abilities and thus took what the could from the African men's acrobatic feats and implemented it into a feasible training regime for himself and then his soldiers. It was that French officers son (or nephew?) who got inspired, started training similar movements in France as well as being inspired by Hong Kong martial arts movies and Bruce Lee's ethos, and voila you have Parkour
I did Capoeira for 2 days and it just about kicked my ass. I’m 44 and out of shape. I really want to get back into it. I really love it for so many reasons. I need it for physical fitness, flexibility, balance, endurance, heart rate, army strength. It truly is the best and most fun workout you can ever do.
Bboying (or breakdance) from the hip hop scene was influenced by capoeira. In a Brazilian dance style called zouk (also branch is lambada Zouk) was also influenced by capoeira. You can see it in the lead’s movement leading a basic move called “lateral”.

i took capoeira for many years and yes it is difficult because you're not only defending yourself in a fight you are dancing, your moves are synchronized with your partners, i love practicing the instruments and singing too.

Happened to see some guys training capoeira in the park,looked really cool. They explained the move very thoroughly before starting to train it at a very moderate speed. I think the most important part for Capoeira is patience in the beginning ^^

No, not really. They are doing high-level moves, by the time you would get there, your muscles would only be straining to train, not straining from training

I trained capoeira for many years. The first capoeira I've learned was the "street one". If you take out the dance aspect and the acrobatics of capoeira you have a martial art with dangerous kicks. Can't tell how many times I used purely capoeira to defend myself in the streets of Brazil.

Well, I think it's commonly said it was born here. Africa had some tribal rituals with body practices which capoeira might have some influences from but, the way it is today, capoeira regional and contemporanea it's from Brazil. Even old Brazilian capoeira didnt look like the way it looks today so, saying it was born in Africa is a huge leap in my humble opinion

Also, he seems to be a perfectionist in the things he does, we can easily say that Misora maybe influenced him into learning it. It wouldn't be strange of him to travel out side of the Western Continents. Easily fits his personality and adds to his character. Still sad Misora died. She lacked the knowledge that Light was the main suspect, I see her to be the real successor of L if he had died first and she would had made contact with him. Misora was awesome.

Well, I think it's commonly said it was born here. Africa had some tribal rituals with body practices which capoeira might have some influences from but, the way it is today, capoeira regional and contemporanea it's from Brazil.
Even old Brazilian capoeira didnt look like the way it looks today so, saying it was born in Africa is a huge leap in my humble opinion

Elizabethdactyl The book was created after the main series, and yes. What I am saying is, that its a detail they over looked. Also, he seems to be a perfectionist in the things he does, we can easily say that Misora maybe influenced him into learning it. It wouldn't be strange of him to travel out side of the Western Continents. Easily fits his personality and adds to his character. Still sad Misora died. She lacked the knowledge that Light was the main suspect, I see her to be the real successor of L if he had died first and she would had made contact with him. Misora was awesome.
