Hey i just wanted to add to the idea you got here.I tried it and i used a wooden spool.Instead of using another small spool i used a piece of candle with a notch cut in it so the stick will move with the piece of candle and that way you get a slower more stable movement.Also i put a small nail in the other side to keep the band.And finally on the rim of the spool i cut small notches so it would have more traction :) .Tell me what you think and if you try it please let me know!

Use a piece of a wax candle instead of the second spool. That slows it down a little and it works better. I used to use pencils as the main leg.

you could even put some rubber on the part of the spool that touches the ground to give it better traction/grip.
