Bought this game after realising it was made by the same people in At Dead Of Night... 6 hours later and I had already completed it... Damn it was an amazing game! FMV deserves more love when it's done right.
Yeah, FMV is amazing (and can be more accessible for creators used to filmmaking). It’s a shame that because a lot of the experience is video based many people just watch let’s-plays and don’t buy the games themselves (no shame on that if they can’t afford it though, I’m still saving up myself to buy this game and At Dead of Night). I want to create a FMV myself since it’s the perfect meeting point of writing, filmmaking, and acting, but it’s scary that you could spend so much time and money for no return. I guess that’s similar to all game-making though, haha. It’s just a bigger risk with FMV sadly.
@@izstrella I totally agree. Maybe they can find a way of allowing people to RENT FMV games in the future. I mean it's an interactive movie, the play time will be just a few hours, it's not worth really paying 60$. If they made it possible to rent for like 3-5$/24h, a lot of people would try FMV games.
@@VigorHabitus • That might be a good idea. I guess it would be hard though since FMVs can cost just as much as other video games to make so pulling the price down that much might really hinder the creator and undervalue the work. But on the other hand if people can’t afford $60 they won’t buy the game at all. Renting could be really useful for people who otherwise wouldn’t want to invest in a less-replayable format. And hey, for the people who really end up loving the game and want to own it they could pay the $60 afterwards to keep it!
And I just finished up watching a walkthrough of contradiction after watching multiple at dead of night let's plays and I even noticed some elements that both games shared ( specifically the scrying mirror and the harp string sound effect when something happens ) and it sucks that there had to be sequel bait but hopefully at some point contradiction 2 will happen
@@VigorHabitus Yes indeed. Are you considering a sequel to this game? I'd love to buy them as a package deal. I feel like there were hints that scrying mirrors will become important.
@@nairinocea9693 There is room for a sequel, unfortunately the FMV market ain't doing well. I guess people don't want to spend money on short games. Check out this link for some other cool FMV games: fmvworld.com/games1.html

Honestly the game developers need more recognition! At dead of night was amazing, I don't really play horror games but I watched playthroughs, and I just absolutely love how it's all live action. It's so different and new
I really had a forgotten soft spot for FMV games. After playing this game that spot grew tender once more. It really inspires me to want to make a game similar to this one.

For a while they were "unofficially" converted by local drunks into extremely un-private urinals, but honestly these days you're more likely to find a book-lending service, or a defib, or wifi hotspot, inside one than a phone, and they tend to have fewer wee puddles. Progress!
Thinking of buying this game instead, I'm too scared to try At Dead of Night lmaooo but this kind of detective games reminds me of the Nancy Drew games I played as a child.
Detective could’ve solved the murder long before 12am had he just paid attention to the following leads 1. Tape on the license 2. Tape used to stick trash bag on smashed window 3. Emma’s affair with Ryan 4. 500 quid cheque to Kate 5. Argument between Kate and Emma in the night of Kate’s death The whole Atlas/Red Eye thing is a big red herring.

Am I the only one who didnt like it? They answered almost NO QUESTION! I know, I know. Jenks mentions that many things have been left unanswered, said that he only had scratched the surface BUT Kate dying because Rebecca suspecting her? I mean we spend 3/4 on Atlas and at the end the thing has nothing to do with it? Atlas had no connection at all? Im extremely disappointed but I hope the sequel will make up for it and also solve Liam's case.
It's interesting watching this after At Dead of Night. My first watch of this game.
Simon does a comedy act at the Seaview, you should check it out, its a hit with the students.
Gonna try that soon. Thanks for bringing it up!
