If you boil an champagne cork it will return to its original shape, they are made with three different grades of cork in layers . One can make knife handles out of them or handles for fishing rods . If you have a brick with holes in it you can cork some of them to make an hot pot stand and if you cork some of the holes on the underside and then put candles in holes on top you have a rustic chandelier. To make holes in cork use a sharpened metal tube and turn under pressure. If boiled cork becomes soft and pliable so it can be shaped with pressure (into an non round shape). Cork handled fishing knifes will float and are non slippery and warm to the touch. Birch bark is perhaps better for a hunting knife.
cork nowdays is controlled by richest man in Portugal, monopoly on cork, biggest producer in the world, he produces cork for the wine industry, aerospace, car industry, furniture ikea construction industry for ceilings floors isolation insulation etc he has gigantic factories in portugal romania etc also he is invested in several other industries his name or better the company is called grupo amorim i think

Thanks for sharing, awesome
A amazing video.
Great educational film, beautifully shot. Meticulously shot to reveal the process. Love the sound effects. Do we know exactly who made it?

lol the sound effects are hilarious, its like a silent video and they tried to make it alive
This must be fun... 1:22 it's actually not as dangerous as all of the unsafe giant saws that follow!! Cool vide tho!!
Are the cork scraps pressed into those big blocks with adhesive or pressure only?
They are cooked and pressed
Modern cork offcuts have an adhesive added in

Whats the name of the factory? Were was located? Thank you!
would be great to know but it seems no one knows where this factory was located not even the uploader...
Not much health and safety going on back then.
It is like working without security in Argentina today, for example ... (year 2020).
Back when worker health and safety was not much of a concern. That plank walkway up the cork stack had me dying! hahaha
When there is money involved so is abuse and corruption!
Would be so much better without sound effects
If only there was a button for that...
It's called bark...not cork.
LAMPU DU CARAGLIU!!!!
Women in a factory wearing dresses and open toe sandals!
