Kelsey, you were actually part of the reason I studied early childhood education because I admire you so much as a person and I thought it would be such an amazing job to have. Of course working with young children has it's ups and downs, I truly love it and I thank you for sharing your life on youtube otherwise I may never have decided to consider this career in the first place.

As a former pre school teacher, pretty much everything they discussed regarding teaching was so true. Underpaid, lots of work, and crazy online learning during the pandemic.
Omg it’s so tragic how they treat teachers in the US like why are they still not getting paid what they deserve?!!! Investing in teachers would allow them to be better for the kids
It’s like this in Canada too. Early Childhood Educators, which is what you have to have in order to teach preschool/daycare, only get paid around 15 dollars an hour, and minimum wage is 13.50. That’s with a diploma and finished school. No one can live off of a wage like that, especially given rent increases, inflation, etc.
It’s sad how messed up the worlds priorities are. I love Kelsey’s content and no hate on influencers but, there’s no reason why they should be paid more than teachers.

I'm so confused by the US tax-system, so this might seem like a stupid question, but are the 27k you make before or after taxes? And also; which benefits does the taxes get you? I'm trying to figure out how "low" the US/teacher salarys really are compared to my country. I live in Denmark and work as an office assistant. I get paid roughly 45.000 usd before all sort of taxes, which equals to 27.000 usd a year AFTER all taxes deducted. (a teacher usualy gets paid more than this) The taxes are alot, but then have free health care (doctors, hospitals etc.) and because of added health care from my job I also get free apointments at chiropractors, therapists, massages, and so on (litteraly almost everything you can think of). I feel my 27k efter tax is waaay to low, and I don't even have to worry about anything regarding my health, getting unimployed, wanting to study again etc... @@miateut6884 honestly I’m confused about the us tax system as a us citizen lol. It sucks. The 27k is before taxes, it’s about 21k after taxes. My hourly rate is about $18/hr. So I get a paycheck every month, but am only actually getting paid for 9 months if that makes sense. My paycheck each month is $1800 after taxes and the mandatory retirement fund. And where I live most studio apartments are around $1800/month. I’ve thought about living in a trailer park but even trailer homes are too expensive for me. It’s honestly so soul crushing. As a primary school teacher and an online English teacher, I lovee this episode! Brooke is awesome! Kelsey and Brooke are the same person, literally. Such a vibe!💌
I’m so happy Brooke is doing a mood blanket! I tracked my mood every day last year and then embroidered it all in centimetre squares. So like a “year in pixels” but in embroidery 😄
This is so creepy bc I literally worked at a preschool with a teacher named April and she was also terrible just as described 😭😭😭 she was so aggressive with the kids and super moody so it was unpredictable when she would have aggressive episodes with the kids and be super rude to me ☺️
The pay for early childhood educators especially is so crazy low. I also had a poor experience when I worked at a special needs pre k class. When I got my degree to teach high school English, I made $37k and had 150 students. Generally, the adults/admin and low pay are two of the biggest reason teachers are leaving education. I’m a nanny now and make a similar hourly for 1 kid. It’s so nice!
As a 29-year-old watching your podcast I just wanted to say that the story time section is so pure. Feels like you’re giving advice to your younger self 💚

I hope you two know, I still remember pre school, some scary memories and some good, but mostly scary. I would have probably had less issues if I had a teacher who cared as much as either of you at any age. I grew up around adults which severely hurt my development and made me very in tune and mature at a young age. I was never hurt by bullying or anger directed towards me, even from adults, because at a very young age I understood that they weren't actually harmful. As I got older I started resenting my peers and family because I wasn't able to connect with them, not realizing that they shouldn't have to live up to my expectations. I never liked being around kids my age because they were rude and unaware of what actually matters. Now I realize that everyone is unaware, including me, you drift towards awareness when you accept the fact that there are things you cant know. You cant try to understand everything and then get mad when others try and do the same and don't figure things out as quickly. Nobody is void of flaws and mistakes, I will be rude again no matter how I try and avoid it because there are circumstances and people I can't know until I experience them. Inevitably I will say something to someone that will make them mad. Now, I know that if I apologize and act genuinely all should be well. I am still dealing with plenty of issues but all of the issues I just outlined can be traced back to not having any friends at my age and maturity until I was in 7th grade (USA). I am confident that a good teacher could have changed my life, for the better. Now I have to pick up all the pieces and it sure would be nice to have less.

I would get left with 20 kids age 5 to 9 by myself. 5+ kids with violent tendencies and one 6 year old that still had diapers. I got sick with infections/flus every 3 weeks. Still dealing with now debilitating IBS and now SIBO. Under paid, under resourced, under appreciated. I have a bachelors degree and i was getting $15/hr. I wish i watched this before taking that job.

I love knitting and crocheting so much and the idea of a mood blanket is so awesome and inspiring!! Maybe something I will want to do too! I wish I had done it during wedding planning to remember that season of my life... but currently pregnant so maybe a blanket now for the baby in the future would be so cool too!!!
I just found this as I was looking if any preschool teachers quit the field and went on to something else. I have been in the field for over 16 years and am thinking about quitting since I feel so underpaid for the amount of work and stress I have. I am making less then people at inn and out. Anyone have advice on other jobs to jump to that pay better ?
Is no one at least a little suspicious of her husband passing away a week after they got married….when he had $200k hidden somewhere… 😵💫 I know it’s a really sad story but that all sounds so weird.
I used to be a preschool teacher and one time I was showing the kids how to “jump up and down and turn around” when I called their name with the attendance song and as soon as I got up and started jumping, one parent walked in with his child to drop her off and saw me jumping and I got SO embarrassed. This 24 year old jumping in front of 5 1 year olds 😭
Teacher April's husband dying in his sleep was just so unexpected.

Love this episode so much ♥️ I just feel so calm and safe and happy listening to you two talk! Also you’re both glowing, literally so gorgeous
I’m currently majoring in SPED and I love that you both have backgrounds in education
Brooke has such good comedic timing when telling her stories
These two bounce so well off each other! Reminds me of an early Cody and Noel
Omg Kelsey please start knitting with all of us. Been knitting for 19 years, and believe me - we’re always (probably too) excited to bring new people into the cult
They sound identical I’m listening to this in the car trying so hard to figure out who’s talking lol
I love you and Brooke together!
yep. PLEASE do not go into pre school teacher unless it is a passion. Even then the cons outweigh the pros :( I am still dealing with health effects and its been 6 months since i quit
Honestly love you guys together 😭😭❤️
I am also a teacher who has had a crazyyy experience and am probably about to find a new career lol you guys are my life goals
I remember seeing Brooke on my for you page during quarantine. She was made for the screen honestly ❤ also- I love this collab, Kelsey !
Loved every second of this
i love brooke so much i hope she's having a great day
also a preschool teacher working with a “stern” “tough love” co teacher 😊
Kelsey you have such a lovely laugh! It’s just nice to listen to
I love knitting and crocheting so much and the idea of a mood blanket is so awesome and inspiring!! Maybe something I will want to do too! I wish I had done it during wedding planning to remember that season of my life... but currently pregnant so maybe a blanket now for the baby in the future would be so cool too!!!
my comfort collab 😌😌💓💓
Lmao Kelsey having Brooke repeat the whole story from their last pod together
I need more of you two together!!
Love the Brooke and Kelsey duo!
Im 23 and wanna be a elementary school teacher but the low pay is deterring me. It's so sad idk
this is the episode i’ve been waitingggg for
literally a minute in and i already know i’m going to watch this too many times
I just need to know why this woman got her vacation approved during transitions 😂
They probably just wanted her away from the kids
I just found this as I was looking if any preschool teachers quit the field and went on to something else. I have been in the field for over 16 years and am thinking about quitting since I feel so underpaid for the amount of work and stress I have. I am making less then people at inn and out. Anyone have advice on other jobs to jump to that pay better ?
Preciate you both so much!!
Is no one at least a little suspicious of her husband passing away a week after they got married….when he had $200k hidden somewhere… 😵💫 I know it’s a really sad story but that all sounds so weird.
This was so fun to watch!! Need Britney Broski on the show with you 😍
I used to be a preschool teacher and one time I was showing the kids how to “jump up and down and turn around” when I called their name with the attendance song and as soon as I got up and started jumping, one parent walked in with his child to drop her off and saw me jumping and I got SO embarrassed. This 24 year old jumping in front of 5 1 year olds 😭
I just started as a teachers aide and I love this episode so much hahaha
