I love this! This is such a great project. Thank you Chris. Thank you to all associated. I am so in awe of these women. Being born in Australia in 1970, once I began watching tennis on tv, I became inthralled and hooked on watching the likes of Billie, Martina, Chris and Evonne play. I watched every game I could possibly watch on tv. In the 80's I had Tennis Magazine posters on the walls. For a period in time most of them were of Martina N. It's just how I was. I never really played tennis, but I learnt so much from watching our women tennis players. I would not be surprised at all if I learnt how to be a good sportsperson from Martina N and Chris. Their rivalry was awesome to watch in so many ways. Winning best and fairest at a sport was 'my moment', so a huge thank you to them. Even to today, I'm competitive but play honourably. I never did get to Wimbledon to see Chris and Martina play, or any of the other ladies for that mater, but gee I still hold a great deal of respect for women in tennis.
Always great to see the two Martinas together. Imagine what a doubles team they would have been....but imagine the battle over who got to return from the ad court!
I am a lifetime fan of Chris Evert. I Reflect back to the year 1973, I attended a tournament, The Virginia Slims of Columbus, Georgia, that featured The Evert sisters( Chris and Jeanne), Rosie Casals, Margaret Court andJulie Helman. A great event!.
I wish WTA would set up a meet and greet online of former number 1s for fans. It's once in a lifetime. Please please make it happen! Much love from the Philippines. PS Dibs on Sharapova and Hingis.
No female tennis player has since Chris Evert's had her grace, beauty and charm. She still has it and will have it even when she is 90 because she is Chris Evert.
This show is giving me EVERYTHING I need to survive this week! I have idolized Navratilova since the 80's (being also gay)! She is MACNIFICENT. I also adore Hingis and Caro!
You can definitely tell a lot about their personalities based on the background behind them. Navratilova is definitely in her creative phase whereas Hingis is all business.
These four are all great champions in their own rights so can't argue with that. But I still feel the craft of the play and the geometry of the court was best measured only by Hingis. Because at times it almost felt she knew where the ball was going to land. And also she was the last of the teenage phenom class of tennis whether male or female.
2 Moment that i love from this video - Woz: I want best of 5, Hingis: You're Marathon! Imagine facing Graf's slice 5 set! -Serena wining AO when she've got pregnant, Woz: How can she did that!.... Hingis: she's same age with me! -
Some superfans of specific champions tend to forget that virtually all of these former #1's continue to have great respect for each other's game's and achievements. The 'rivalries' that can lead to trash talk in forums are not reflecting the views or character of these women. Fans of Graf or Seles, or Court, or King, or Serena, have no business pretending to admire them, while saying things that Graf, or Seles or Court, or King, or Serena would never think of saying. Even if they don't all actually like each other ( and for the most part they do), there is always a basic if grudging respect for each other. I sure wish that was mirrored among fans as consistently. I actually can find something to truly admire and respect in every single one of these women from Bueno through Serena because they are all basically good decent people.
the mentioning of serena and venus made this video exceptionally interesting to watch and the fact that these big players cant even imagine lasting a set while being pregnant just goes to show how great serena is. still playing and winning titles!! UNTOUCHABLE!
Just want to point out that this is actually not a singular achievement among the women. Evert personally lost to two women who won majors after giving birth. Court left the tour for childbirth and went on to make a comeback winning 3 majors in 1973 before going out for her last child including the 73 RG. Goolagong came back from childbirth to win the Aussie late in 1977 and beat Chris in 1980 at Wimbledon.
@@BTURNER1961 but none of them had such a career with a bazillion injuries. also, i dont think any of them came back from the brink of death several times. also i dont think they didn't fight death during pregnancy having pulmonary embolism and all the blood clots....so...yh. serena is something else.
@@Empy003 I have no clue how seriously to take this post. I am going to go for intentional parody or satirically and just smile at how good it is in that light.

@@regulusarcturus if she’s able to maintain her health she’ll win many many slams. Do I need to remind you of US OPEN 2019 FINAL? She beat Serena there. And now after an year of recovery and not playing she straight away made it to the final of Miami, not many people currently on the WTA tour who can do that !
I’ve heard from quite a few people who have met Chris Everett that she has a huge ego and can be quite difficult. A simple web search of her personal life kind,of shows that.
Met her one time, and spoke to her one on one for a few minutes, and she was guarded, but was polite and willing to speak to a fan. Many other players from her time said she was usually no problem to be around. Pam Shriver in her book gave a pretty detailed picture of Evert- funny, generous, but proud of what she accomplished without the athleticism of a Navratilova, King, or Court.
I’ve only heard second hand things from people who have met her and most noted that she was arrogant. Yes she had the reputation of always being a good sport to players of her generation. If you Google some of her opinions she has all but admitted that growing up and playing as a superstar caused her emotional issues in her relationships with others once she left the sport and lost the “limelight” of fame.

Chris Evert is just so amazing..
This is so great. Smart, strong, talented, accomplished and attractive women doing their thing and sharing their wisdom. Totally great!!!!
I want a show with Chris and Martina as hosts
This is awesome.Four real legends together. What a thrill to hear them talk like this.A wonderful treat.
Love this series! Had no clue the original Martina had two daughters....LOVE!
I think they're the daughters of her partner so that would make Martina the step mom.
Always great to see the two Martinas together. Imagine what a doubles team they would have been....but imagine the battle over who got to return from the ad court!
I love this format. Thanks to the WTA and everyone who supports women's tennis.

chris evert, my platonic love, always so feminine, her game so constant, hingis also had a game similar to evert
Which was kind of ironic, as her mum named her after Navratilova, but her daughter ended up playing like Chrissie.
