Your video is right on the money. Been to DR and Sosua many times but several years ago. My favorite hotel is the Las Palmeras. I used to ride the small scooters to Cabarete and Puerta Plata. The Jazz Festival was great. Sounds like the place has not changed much, which is good. At one time there was a mayor that absolutely wanted to destroy the place - contributed to me to stop visiting. Shutdown many places - like Classicos. Mandated windows on the crowded bars, which turned them into coffins due to lack of outside air ventilation.

This a great video I love being able to see the area when we can't be there. We visited Sosua last Christmas with our 13 year old daughter. We loved your bar and the ladies working there were absolutely amazing. We spent about an hour just chatting with them. They made a special drink for our daughter and spent time talking to her and making her feel comfortable. We also came to your Christmas party and met you briefly. I was so surprised that the ladies remembered our names, drinks and lent us some towels so we could drink our amazing drinks in a pineapple on the beach!
I the can't wait to go back but I would like to warn people bring families about how aggressive some of the local men were towards our daughter. She is only 13 but looks much older. We had her walk between both me and my husband and still men would stare her down and walk towards her. One guy even told my husband we had a beautiful daughter and tried to get around him to talk to her. None of it felt malicious and I think it might be part of the Dominican culture.
However, I have to say walking down the main street in Cabarette was worse. A couple of men in the back of a truck made some very obscene gestures towards her. while staring my husband down as if daring him to do something about it. It's a beautiful place and we are building a vacation home in Casa Linda but I would never feel safe letting my teenage daughter out of my sight.

    • @mikeb2611

thats how a lot of men are in latin countries....its not taboo to stare at a teenager like it is everywhere else...being a foreigner doesnt help especially if shes blond...getting married at 14-15 is common....but definately yes, DO NOT let her out of your sight

@@marvinjenkins4901 We stayed at a Villa in Casa Linda which is a gated community. We felt safe there and it was very quiet but it's not in town. It takes less than 10 minutes to get to Sosua and they have a shuttle that goes to Cabarete and Sosua all day. There was a hotel right next to Playa Alicia that looked nice and was right on the beach. It seemed like a pretty safe place with lots of families staying there. I don't know the name of it though.

You should mention, in the next Video...
the MotoConchos rates to get home in Sosua
    Daytime Rate.
    Night Rate.
    May I suggest....
Put the “get Home” MotoConchos money in your wallet before you go out.
    Write your name on it.
Ask... and Pay... in advance for your ride “home”.
If they argue (upon arrival)... ask them to look for your name on the money (they've accepted).
If not.... you may hear the 100Peso ride.... is now 500Pesos

Very nice video to introduce newbies to the town. For a decent hotel, I would also add both the Hotel El Rancho and Alicia Beach Hotel, directly across the street from each other, and just a 2 minute walk beyond the New Garden. I've stayed at both places, roughly a $40-50 per night rate, both with very nice pools and quiet at night as you are away from the moto traffic with the loud mufflers.....WOP...WOP...WOP....as they go down the street. But still within an easy walking distance to all of the downtown area and Sosua Beach. From the time walking out of the lobby entrance to your bar, Malibus, was maybe a slow 15 minute stroll due to all the eye candy along the way!

  • @bubbatango5878
    @bubbatango5878 2 года назад +7

Everything around there is within walking distance with that being said if it's 95 degrees and 95% humidity you may not want to walk down to playa sosua so hop on a motoconcho and hold on tight when you get there give him a buck it's not going to break your bank but it's a lot of money to them and you didn't sweat all the way down for me getting around on motorcycle taxis is a no-brainer

Great starters package video for the Newbies.
Wanted to mention about the villas for the fellas looking to party.
I cant speak 100% for Casa Linda but I have heard issues there with parties there as well.
Both Hispaniola & Casa Linda has a limit on how many "guest" you can bring.
They dont want to see them in their "work" outfits so you need to drive them in and out. If its only one, you can get away with walking if they have a change of clothes.
Also depending on the complaint, security can give a warning or management may ask you to leave...have heard horror stories.
These are private villas, but they are family oriented gated communities.
So have your fun, but keep it inside the villa & if by the pool, even during the day...keep the music & visuals limited to your space.
There are a few truly private villas/properties in town, but are usually booked up months in advance.

    Danny. . .
Please warn about N O I S E at the Hotels along the “strip”.
All hours of the “night”..... MotoConchos (with NO mufflers), M U S I C!!!
A cheap Hotel on the Strip. . . . does not equal a night of sleep.
May I suggest (for the “single guy looking for LUV”).....
Coco Hotel on Alejo Martinez Street (has a good Bar)
    or
Hotel Voramar (also) on Alejo Martinez Street (has a GREAT restaurant)
    both GUEST friendly.
They may require a MotoConchos to get to the Strip... BUT
They are QUIET enough to (actually allow) sleep at night.

Sweet girl, muy tranquila, wife material. Unfortunately at the time I wasn't 100% in on looking a real relationship. I was normally busy smashing 3 chicas a day, sometimes I had 2 rooms in the same hotel. By the time I decided to make Sosua my new destination and went looking for her she had left the restaurant. @@marvinjenkins4901 Hi Marvin, had a great trip in August and learned many things. First and foremost, it is too hot in August. lol. Had my second trip scheduled for Wed., 1/11 thru Sun, 1/15. The FAA grounding debacle. Flight delayed me 2 hours outta Nashville. Missed connection in Miami, had to go to rebooking line with roughly 500-800 people in front of me. Tried going online, site was crashing, tried chat, kept getting disconnected. EIGHT hours later, I was put on the standby list for Thursday. The Agent said with a smile, I had a "VERY good chance" of getting on the flight. Get a room for the night. Thurs, at the gate, plane was full. Turned out I was 11/11 on the standby list. Back to rebooking. I could be put on standby for Friday or a sure thing on Saturday. I chose to return to Nashville, that would have cut my vacation way too short. But that's not all. Boarded the flight to Nashville, one hour later, had to deplane due to a fuel pump issue. Was reassigned another gate for a takeoff 1 1/2 hours later. Then delayed 30 minutes, Finally boarded, delayed another 30 minutes with a door latch issue. Finally made it back. With that being said, am already looking to book again in April for a week this time. My advise is go. It is a single mans Paradise. Good luck and have fun. Didn't mean to make that story that long.

I would also recommend staying away from the Sosua Villas. The smart move would be to AirBnB in Puerto Plata, Puerto Plata and then uber into Sosua. Now this depends on what you are there for of course.
