- ( Another old skool rave mix here: • (pt1) Move Ya - 1991/9... )
A mix ripped from a tape cassette that was recorded in1992.
I used to play these tracks back when I used to dj at raves in fields, warehouses and clubs up and down the country. In places such as Castlemorton, Stroud, Camberwell, Kings Cross, Round House, Chobham Common, Cassington, the Broadmoor underpass, Ascot, Torpedo Town.
Sound Systems such as POD, Circus Warp, Techno Travellers, Spiral Tribe, Bedlam.
Pirate radio stations such as Pure FM, Green Apple, Radioactive.
These were the days of lawless parties, huge sound-systems, and loads of like minded people, from all kinds of backgrounds, who were at the parties to dance and let off steam. At first it was all very innocent. You could trust everyone around you and nobody was judging you by your clothes and such like. I t was kind of like a mini 'age of innocence'. Sadly, in the end, the free raves would attract bad people, which had an affect on the overall vibe of the scene. For a while there, it was bliss.
The huge basslines and breakbeats would beckon hoards of people from all over the country. Huge convoys of cars were a common sight on motorways up and down the UK. As always, the tabloids stoked the fires of panic & fear while at the same time they helped promote the subculture, and the parties.
With the police outfoxed, the parties would begin...and then end some days later. The rest is history.
