Made a mistake on Tip #4 about being able to go to any planet other than a hub to repair your mechs. At the time I thought I was not in a Hub Planet but really was. This is wrong you can only repair in "War Zones" and Hubs and not on planets outside of both types. Still, if you have a lot of repairs do fly to a hub planet and fix your mechs as it will take a shorter time and save you lots of C-bills.
But you would have to pay the trip forth and back and that also needs time and money. In my opinion (reputation 10) it makes only sense to repair at hubs when you have 12 medium to heavy damaged Mechs at the same time in your Mechbay after for example a 3x mission. Im at Rep 10 at the moment and do some farming in rank 8 warzones. I like to stay in a system with many missions and do them all without going to a hub. So of course i repair most damages in a warzone with 50-100% repair costs. Time is money, and my mechs and crew cost me 600k+ regularly. edit: Ah before i forget, thanks for the video. ;)
Thank you for the nice words.. I do think that after you hit heavy and assault mechs sometimes its just better to go to a Hub to repair as your mech would be out of commission for over 4 months and cost an arm and a leg but depends on how much C-bills you have as well
tip 6 : remove jump jets Ai never use them and you can max out armour. Or put in a heat sink or two extra. And lets face it Ai pilots need all the armour they can find :)
On Damage Insurance - it pays out on estimated repair costs (as if you were in an industrial zone). The amount is added to the pay out value on the screen showing damage cost vs payment received and is not separated. You are either positive or negative for the battle. (sale cost of salvage not included). You get more per point for insurance than pay but if you take less damage than your insurance it only pays out to the damage value. All things considered, through Reputation 8 I always come back with at least 300 k in damage (usually more). So I tend to max the insurance when I am working for a faction I have a high rep with (more points to spread among pay / salvage / insurance).
Great tips, thanks for sharing! First time coming back to a first person MW game in about 15 years, been playing Battletech recently but I was still pretty lost when it comes to MW. Having a blast though!
Are you sure tip 4 is correct? I can only repair in conflict zones or industrial worlds. If I go to a random world outside a conflict zone it won’t let me repair.
Late to the party, I know, but I have only started playing a couple of days ago. As for the damage insurance, I'm a bit torn on that. On one hand, I get more c-bills in damage coverage than if I put that point into payment. On the other hand, any damage coverage that I don't actually have damage to pay for is wasted. My personal approach is like this: A) I can get salvage to 10+ shares 1. Max out salvage (yes, even at the cost of having not a single point left to put into damage compensation. There have been a couple of times where I could have salvaged a Firestarter or Spider, if not for missing a single salvage share - and it's really, really, _really_ annoying!) 2. If available, put a single point into damage coverage 3. Put remaining points into payment B) I can't get salvage up to 10+ shares 1. Put 1 point into damage coverage (coming home with less than 200k in damage is quite rare) 2. Max payment 3. Put left-over points (if any) into salvage. Now, this "one point only" thing might change, once I field a heavier lance and face heavier/more enemies, but at the moment (I've just gotten to rating 6 and have _just_ gotten my hands on my first heavy, a Rifleman), half the time I don't accumulate more than 300k worth of damage Anyone reading this as advice (as I said, I'm darn new to the game, so don't take anything I say as _good_ advice, lol), this might also be a result of my play-style. I like to take it slow, cleaning up a combat-area as much as possible, before moving on, which means I get a lot of low-rated missions with relatively well trained ai-mechwarriors. If you advance more aggressively, I could see the damage numbers rising quite considerably.
I'm taking the campaign slowly, and the most annoying thing that you mentioned happened to me a few times in where I was short points salvaging mechs that I could have owned.
I have a question. Besides the cost of C-bills why is time a penalty factor in repair? Do certain missions only spawn on the map for a specific time or something? I can't really see how time management factors into much in this game outside of mission starts and repairs/upgrades.
@@TheOtterpop Ah right, so its more they are being true to the BT lore than they are trying to cause an inconvenience for the player in the game. Right! Thanks man.
Also thinking about it it puts some sort of mechanic of the game into fixing your mech and having the monthly upkeep so people just dont fix with new mechs all the time. I know myself I had to go in battles with broken mechs as I didnt have the funds to wait as my monthly upkeep was just around the corner.
@@surgicalglitch3265 The only downside to long waits that I see is making the upkeep charges stack up faster, they come every so many days, regardless of if you complete missions.
I didn't have a problem in MWO, but MW5 is giving me motion sickness. I didn't see any settings that would minimize the bouncing motion. Maybe a modder will be able to change a setting for that?
Much cheaper. I was sticking around a war zone and I had a couple of bad missions and didn't check and my c-bills were next to nothing after that. so now I just goto a hub and repair to save on c-bills
Thanks for everything. Can you set anything for scroll up or down on your mouse? It has zoom preset with them but does not seem to allow me to change anything to one of them. I guess an easy mission is like a testing ground.
as far as the mouse I just use it as a scroll wheel but I use the instant action as a testing ground for Thumbnails or anything I need to test anything
Regarding salvaging full mechs - you have to have a score of 8 to 12 for lights and 12 to 16 for mediums. (Have not seen a heavy salvaged yet). You can only have enough points when working for someone you are a Hero with or there are not enough contract points. Also,. some lower Rep mission won't let you buy enough salvage points to get a mech. I guess this is to keep people from farming lower Rep mission for lights they can then sell.
without that bad spawning would be easier… that way you loose credits evry Mission duo endless dmg and lost wepons. heck i even cant realy use lrms cause the enemy spawn all under the Minimum range..
I just jumped into a game and I have a lot to learn. And I doubt there is a play to learn or to practice. I do not know how to find targets, i need to change my fire buttons, and is there a map you can bring up? Maybe it is my sad PC but movement is real ...ah...mouse settings. i need to find where to do all of this. Not having a page somewhere is really lame. I have the $49.99 version. Ahhh, I have find target on scroll up on my mouse and it is not allowing me to use that...ahh, maybe I can try this..

Well, that's a personal choice for you and I respect that. I give this about a 7.8 to 8 as they could have done better. The whole epic store nonsense is just a plain silly argument, but with the time allowed this game could have been a whole lot better in the long run if they did a couple of things better and I feel it did some things right but more wrong in the long run. the game is flawed obviously, the story bits are lackluster the home base could have been made more interesting with your squad mates actually being there. It all feels empty. Other than that I think the gameplay is quite solid, lot of mechs that vary the way to play and there are enough biomes. The AI however is pretty shit, they dont perform any tactics it's usually running in circles. All in all for the price, 22 bucks, it's a good buy. It's not AAA and they priced that in accordingly.

The settings are in control options Mouse + Keyboard to adjust your mouse settings. I have mine set at 1.0
I don't play MW5 anymore, but somewhere in the directory, there are 2 PDF files. One is the keyboard layout. The other is the stats of all the mechs.
