When Evan Foster started doing surf & hot rod music in 1992, his vocal songs were always far more exciting than his instros. Even so, I came to love his stuff, and went to great lengths to get my hands on every single 45, EP, CD, LP and various-artists comp I could lay my hands on. So much of this was only on vinyl, that back in 2003, I made a point of copying ALL of the vinyl tracks to CDs!
Evan's intros finally caught up with his vocals when he did his "INSTRUMENTALS" album in 2004.
I bet he wishes he hadn't been releasing recordings under at least 6 different band names, and just stuck with "THE BOSS MARTIANS", for commercial reasons. I wonder how many of his fans he left completely confused along the way? (heeheehee)
Make sure you track down "HERE'S TO ANOTHER YEAR" by "Mystery Action". it remains, in my mind, the BEST of his "POWER-POP" albums. Along with the original tunes, it also contains a cover of Sam Cooke's "Shake". Been playing it constantly of late.
