    V. Balsara is great . He has been utilized less in Indian context . He is extraordinary . I put my head at his feet . The piece he played in mandolin is an odia folk .

This is a beautiful rare Archival footage of the legendary duo Hemanta da & Pt V Balsara, Pt Balsara played various instruments & was a singer in multiple languages too. He was a Parsi musician who was the iconic sound behind maestros Shankar Jaikishan in Bollywood. Pt. V Balsara is known for especially for his exceptional fusion of western & Indian styles & instruments. He is known & much revered in the Music fraternity but unfortunately not much known outside of India.
#Homage & #Respect to this Legend on his 99th Birth Anniversary today.

I always admire Hemant Jee. I first saw him at Jagannath Hall of Dhaka University long before in the year in 1989 (it may be in 1988). I was then a student at that institution. Hoover,. have never seen him smoking. This time I saw him smoking. I don't mind, and it ins't something to mind at that time. I remember him at that time and I can still remember him. To me, he was a man of pure simplicity. I still believe it.

I am among a few person heard their performance in duet and solo many time since 1962 till the end and fortunate enough to know them personally. I recorded Hemanta babu many occasions at Rabindra Sadan at Kolkata and other places, I enjoy them even today. Finally both were definition of Gentle man, nothing less. My respect to the maestros and the listeners of their music.

Discovered the great genius Balsara Ji on the English service of Radio Ceylon about 30 years back as he played "Lara's Theme" in his original orchestra Balsara and His Singing Sitars. He was a Grand Master of Hindustani as well as Western music. Sadly, he remained unsung throughout. See the contrast of Annu M, Mika etc. etc.

Inimitable duo. Unfortunately, Hemanta babu's smoking gave him 2 massive heart attacks in 1980 and 1989. The initial snatched most of his baritone away from him and the latter snatched this gem of a person, musician, director and composer away from us... thanks a ton for this wonderful share...

Secondly their creations shall always bear testimony to their impeccable greatness!
    V. Balsara was a "sadha Lakshmi" who has not met with the honour that he deserved but so long as Bengali Music shall live he will live and with full glory!
And what to say of Hemanta Da, who has been a boon to Indian music that added it many a new dimensions by his tunes and his divine voice given to so many immortal songs!
