Honestly this vlog was so satisfying seeing all the fruit and veg etc in the market. It just had that “gap year- let’s go travelling by” type of vibe that you’d see glamorised on social media. It was so nice seeing all the fresh produce especially the pineapples. Seeing soo many like that was amazing. As a vegan myself it is interesting the decision you made about the dogs. I see it as such a stumbling block for a lot of vegans who want to own dogs but the pressure to feed dogs vegan diets. I gotta say, I love how organised you are Emilie. I can tell you do a lot for your family ❤❤❤❤
Oh it’s absolutely not easy, but I had the dogs before I was vegan. I can’t just one day change their diet too when they have 0 understanding of it - the kids want to follow a vegan diet themselves but the dogs aren’t in agreement 😂

Not really, with all the pets - but we also don’t have a great track record with any plants. We are so busy any plants we have always die 😅 The fruit and veg in the market is entirely reasonably priced so it makes far more sense for us to buy than add to our work load 🥰

People in Canada and USA complain how hard it is to wait in line. They don't know folks who were born in other countries, have to 'hunt down' food we miss. My son with 6 kids including a 1 month baby has to shop for milk, every 2 days; I'm forwarding this video.😋😉😊 I wish folks here could experience what a real food market is. Emilie, you're the first white lady I've with a shopping list, I've shopped in some parts of Canada and the US, usually they have a basket while. minorities have 1 and 2 carts, guess living abroad make you live your 'big dream'. the best house, cars and food.😛😪 Now I remember why my mother used to wash rice,😂 Such a vast variety of foods, better than here, this is what you guys will miss, not having to look up where you can find special items....nice video, makes me think of life in Jamaica, 52 yrs ago.

You can also find the recipe online. I've already tried these burgers, I liked them. Although I'm not vegan. But the broccoli wasn't fresh, it was already yellow. Then it tastes bitter. Better to use it immediately. Transporting the shopping reminds me a lot of my shopping by bike every week, including the drinks 🙄😂
Emily make almond milk at home it’s soo easy n u need a cheap blender water n almonds or woteva nuts u prefer(make sure 2 wash em n soak them for a few hours, strain it n put in a blender, bread bake it yourself n make the children join in the baking process, it’s good 2 teach them 🙂🤗🤗🙏🙏🙏
May look into the nut milk - but nuts aren't cheap here either! But realistically we will struggle to make everything from scratch, not enough time in the day as it is! But love the suggestions ☺️

Not true, actually - the only expensive thing we bought was the alternative milks as they’ve been imported. Otherwise, the biggest expense was the meat for the dogs! Fruits, veg, legumes, rice… all really good prices 🥰
In theory, yes - but this is Uganda and it's not taken that seriously. I know they definitely end up eating some things that are not - ie. cake etc. They definitely don't eat meat at school though! Vegetarianism is more commonly understood - but it helps that there are a lot of Indian students at the school too who also don't eat egg etc ☺️

Is veganism because of the cost, the environment?? When you say everything from the market is dirty? Do you mean soil ?? I am wondering about buying loo cleaner and sosp from environmental poluters like Dove??
We are vegan for the animals, and the health benefits are a great bonus! The market is generally dirty, lots of dust, rats, everybody can touch the items as you saw everyone with their hands in the rice etc etc - so we just like to wash things really well!

As with everything, there is mixed evidence on whether this is true. There have also been links with meat - cancer etc. All I know is by not eating meat, we aren't harming the animals and feel better than ever - fruits, veg, legumes... also good for you and we eat them in abundance now ☺️

Hadn't actually - but I would have to work out if it would actually be cheaper because nuts/oats here are also pretty pricey!

Nope! But we actually bought a load of our own reusable fabric ones as in the market they use the plastic ones and we try to avoid it where we can!
