I have watched your reviews for a few years now. I appreciate how the quallty of the reviews has grown. Keep up the wonderful reviews, always looking for your take on these wonderful reproductions of the great trains of the past.
If there's something that I really really hate to see on models (and especially Steams) is usage of neutral or , even worse, COLD WHITE LEDs ... it's a fundamental thing , even the lowest end models use some form of warm or golden white LEDs for mimicking the prototype incandescent bulbs... geez
HOrseshoeM this is from a brass company that has never really known what they’re doing. Doesn’t totally shock me. A shame they haven’t tried to fix their issues in 20 years...
Very nice review as always James, its good see someone do a brass model for once, brass doesn't get the attention it deserves because they are high priced. I was gonna start doing it myself, but I have now way of buying every piece of brass, plus I only have one piece of brass and thats my chessie greenbrier. 😂 As always keep at it and really enjoy this one
Very nice locomotive and review James! It is definitely out of my league, but it is nice to see. Maybe when I grow up I guess. Been working on that for more than 50 years now. :-) Cheers, Dan
Good video James! Keep them coming!! The engine looks awesome even with the beat up bits but, and here I"'ll be getting a beat up, a lot of the fine brass detail I find also in locos from BLI anf MTH . Plus, as far a steam realism is concerned, they have smoke! especially the MTH ones! And at half the price! Am I so wrong?
I know you stated it is a pre-production model so does that explain why the boiler face is only partially attached, the front railings are bent, the numberboards are crooked and the one class light is out of place with some sort of fuzzy gunk on it and it's lines? Will all of that be corrected on the production models?
Nice video. I was surprised to see you do a brass model. I believe it was your first wasn't it? One thing that caught my attention was the use of a QSI decoder. To my knowledge QSI is out of business. That is something I read on the Model Railroader Forums a few months ago. The review was awesome but I have to agree with Robert's comment below. If you want to use the model what do you do if it breaks? Other than being innovative I would say you are out of luck. Are you going to keep that model for yourself or do you have to return it?
Do you ever buy British loco's? I know they wouldn't exactly look right on your layout but I'm always interested to hear what Americans think if our locos.
PuuberZ I've seen some video of real and model European locomotives (I'm American) and one thing I find a bit peculiar about British locomotives is the cab on both ends of freight locomotives. We have some like that when it comes to passenger train locomotives and of course the famous decommissioned CG1's but none of our current freight locomotives have cabs on both ends. And I've noticed you're coupling system is vastly different than ours. Makes me wonder which is better, more reliable?
Nice loco ,but brass might be soon an extict breed. Limited runs ,no replacement parts and not much to do if you break or wear out those small driver screws on the drivers ,ect. I think you'll see more of the so called brass hybrid type ( Broadway Limited ) Pennsy's Q2 ---S2 are better than any brass of those 2 ,but a 3rd the price. The new Pennsy's electric ( BIG LIZ ) class FF1 in ho scale brass is $2400 . Brass is more collectors, the guys like me that work their trains will stick to Bachmanns solid GG1's and the Broadway Limited soon to be released P5a's .

That's quite an amazing engine! It's also the most expensive HO scale engine I've seen!
Awso.e to see your still slowly buying brass once in a blue moon. Beautiful model man
Fabulous model. Looks well-Made. Good review James and happy railroading!
Beautiful model! 😍
BEAUTIFUL LOCOMOTIVE
I’m noticing the valve gear has went boom
That is a beautiful engine
Hello! very beautiful locomotive with wells agencement pobox for heavy power, and sound effect doppler , thanks for your video
Yes I cranked it up to 1080p and immediately detected a visible Phillips head screw on the valve lever pivot on the 2nd driver.
Walthers commissioned Sunset to produce a model of GTW 5629 back in 1990 for their great circus train set. They're pretty affordable too.
Hi
Looking at the engineer’s side, the eccentric bar is bent.
Incredible details!
i like the box
Beautiful engine good review

absolutely beautiful, having seen the last member surviving, they got everything on the spot.
Great Review , so should we assume Q S I is back in Business?

yep, this has been around the world and back...it's beat up and yes all of those issues are to be addressed on production models.
Nice...thanks for the reply!
Not only all that, but holy bent eccentric rod on the engineer's side!!! I'm surprised she didn't bind up on the first revolution.
Next time, open 'er up.
Who agrees there needs to be a HO Amtrak phase 4 metroliner cab car
yes
