For an 11 minute review video I am quite impressed. You were able to incorporate every aspect of the camera and somehow not make it boring. For a low budget tech review you did a very good job. Would like to see more similar videos in the future.
Thanks.. Been using my Hero2 (HumbleOutdoors w/free 16GB SD card) for about two months. Always nice to see people using and reviewing this rugged great cam.
The white nose plug thing plugs into the main attachment. The main attachment is the little piece that enables you to slide the gopro into a mount. It reduces shakiness therefore leaving you with a steady less vibrated video. The little ring that is attached to it, you place that inbetween the screw hole and the little black screw that secures the gopro to the mount. It is so the white doohickey doesn't come out.
Awesome video man, we gotta hook up. I use my go pro for recording my returning boomerangs. I've always wanted someone to chase my boomerang with a remote plane like you have in this video. Would make for some awesome close up footage of my booms in action..
Yea my bad dude. After I left my first comment, I did some more research on their website and figured out that it's one camera, just different accessories. Apologies but thanks again for the review and thanks for writing me back. I still may but it. I have a little cheapie that cost like $200 back around 2006. Technology has come along way since and it wasn't' even top of the line then. Thanks for everything dude. Peace.

The white rubber thing is for locking the mount when using the universal mount that you put into for example the adhesive 3M sticky tape mounts. 03:43 It fits in that slot! ;) It also removes the clicking sound that may occure because of viberation.
the cable that came with yours is actually a mini hdmi i believe, it plugs into your camera to tv for viewing..it is not supposed to come with the camera.
the white rubber part helps frevent rattling but is actually for high contact sports like skiing or motoX, to prevent the camera to fall off.
btw the white rubber thingy is for tightening up the grip for maximum security, for surf mounts you also get a second adhesive "mount" wich you link to the gopro with a cable in case the normal mount fails/break/whatever...
Not sure if anyone answered yet but the white rubber thing is a lock for the mount. Is a safety measure if you mount your goPro on a surfboard to make sure than you cant push in the side release tabs to take it out of the mount. It looks like a nose plug but actually does serve a valuable purpose.

The funkey cable you talked about looks like an HD cable to play hd content from the camera direct to an hd tv/monitor
@wargunnerguy that distortion is the fisheye lens, that is how a 170 degree field of vision is possible. It is a feature, not a flaw! Try to enjoy it.
@MrHPISS that part of the case is glass, right? Wood doesn't scratch glass. Can't wait to get me one of these!
Make sure you buy the right / good one. Class 6 or 10 is what I recommend. Brand you choose is also very important. After my long research, I bought several 16 GB SanDisc Ultra and SanDisc Extreme cards. Both class 10. No problems with errors or dropping frames and stuff like that. Also, few 16GB or even 8GB cards are better than one 32 GB IMO. The format and numbers of frames per second is also affecting how long battery lasts and how much disc space it takes to record video. Highly Recommended

@adidasDC The plane is a fun jet ultra, it makes a new video file each time you record "in one folder " and no it was a micro USb works on my android phone
Like nwfklan said. Your white rubber thingy presses into your flat/curved sticky mounts once the Gopro is clipped in to stop rattles. Also you can put a strip or two of electrical tape onto the base plate eith side of the ridge in the centre ( but NOT on the ridge ) and this will do the same thing without carryig around that rubber piece. And that cable you thought is the wrong one is a mini hdmi cable and plugs into the mini hdmi out on the Gopro! :)) nice vid enjoyed the flying :))
I have the gopro hero,Im still planning on getting the Hero2. So im not so sure what it originally comes with. But what i know is the Hero2 is compatible with the LCD that you can put on your wrist(coming soon). So that micro HDMI cable might be for that purpose.
Hey dude, nice video. The white rubber thing is for when you have the camera all secure in the clip you put it into the place where you would squeeze the clip to slide the camera off. It basically is a bit more security for action sports and stuff. Hope that made sense
I used one of the double sided tape mounts on my canoe and it did well until I bumped into it and it came off. My advice, no matter what mounting system you use, by all means TETHER it so that if the mount fails you have a backup to save you from losing the camera. Lucky for me I was in shallow water and was able to retrieve it.

If i have the gopro on constant charge while recording. Will the device overwrite old files on the SD card when the card is full?

the white rubber thing is to protect the clip that holds the gopro case in the mounts. the circle goes around the pin

the white nose clip is a secure feature or the clip when doing lots of impact sports such as jumping while skiing and biking....read the manual....loop goes through screw and clip on clip to not allow accidental pinching and loss of unit.
ok here's my question and you'll probably take me for stupid but: i already have a gopro hd hero, i bought for christmas 2011, and i found out only a week later or so that there was also the hero 2 on stock, now heres the question: should i also buy a hero 2, cos i seriously love sports (skiing) but also truly love gopros.

Ok thank you. But if you are riding how do you know if you have the right angle you want. Hard to do if you have no screen showing you your view.

I saw some vid's on youtube of goalies that were using it in the net. It looks awseome! One guy told me that it can withstand a puck........my other option is to use my camcorder with a tripod.....mmmm what to do, what to do... thx
Nice review! I am looking at getting this camera and I think you have convinced me to buy it! I do have a few questions though... 1) How long can you film for on a 16 or 32 meg card? Also, am guessing the focussing is all automatic, right? Thanks again and good job!
How about image quality comparison between other Gopro or other cameras ? Is there any improvement on Hero2 over original Hero camera ?

The one white clip thing is for a surf mount if you have one as an other safety clip,.
the outdoor edition works great for me i think you will like it as well!
The white rubber thing is a plug that absorbers camera shake when it's on a mount.

@number5ful Personal i like the body mounted shots the best "pov" .but if not on the body i would suggest putting the camera on the flat mount like the one in the video that was on the plane. Place it in the back left ,right or center of the goal. yah know ... i think you could get some great footage that way . i would not suggest fastening it to anything in the goal b/c if it were to get hit it would be more likely to break. The more give the better. good luck !
00:58, I noticed that if you get it just right you can put the head strap over a helmet (well a snowboard helmet anyways) without sticking a sticky mount on it :D

Thanks for the great review. After watching this, I feel comfortable buying one. Question ... I want to record me and my buddies rapping. No live shows or anything, just in the front yard, some parking lots and other random places but once again, not at live shows with like 30 speakers all turned up full blast. Which one would you recommend: Outdoor, motor or surf?!? @ 5:50 you said this one has nice audio but do you think it's the best of the 3 for audio?!? Thanks for your time.
Hey mate, im concidering buying either the outdoor or the motor sport edition. Do you suggest the outdoor for cross country riding? I have a standard cycling helmet and have no clue as to whether the headstrap would fit through the air vents of the helmet? Any other advice would be appreciated, cheers

Ya, the funky cable is a mini hdmi. It hooks the camera to a HD TV by the hdmi port.

ok my question is that when i went to gopro website. the quality on the video they are presenting (skydiving skiing etc) the quality is amazing. so i bought it. now when i use it (1080p settings) in the standard case to be honest it looks nothing compared to the quality of the video on their website. can anyone help me get better quality? and yes my computer has max hd settings 1920x1080

And it's great 0.5sec Timelapse feature is easy to use and amazing!
that white thing is a clip plug you put it in between the spaces on your accsesory clip so it wont make squeeky noises and will decrease the chance of it falling off ( i recomend puting this in while you are flying your rc plane

hey- Whats the length of video record times on it? Film for hours or just minutes? and how many pictures can it take?
chlorine levels in pools are not near high enough to erode a bathing suit , many of the same materials used to make a bathing suit are used to make the head cam strap/ mount . "elastics, plastics, rubber" Im pretty sure you will be fine . Now go swimming in battery acid then you might have a problem .
Is it hard to know what you're using while recording? And you can get an external monitor?
does the ruber for vibration come with the whole kit of outdoor edition or did you have to buy it appart?

for whater proof u have the backs, one of the back peces is waterproof or for over 100 mph and the other is for under 100 mph and not waterproof. so the case is waterproof and what is not is the back but u get a waterproof back with the gopro

The wierd "nose clip" is for the mount as it has a rattle. It act's as a silencer.
