Of course, this song topped the charts after it was released, currently holding the records for Top 10 with most Perfect AII KiII surpassing Du Ddu Du Ddu by Blackpink and Cheer Up by Twice
1. Korean cuIture interprets Tomboy differently, it's the way they act not the way they dress
2. Soyeon already emphasized on attitude and "You'll get what I mean Tomboy" before they sing "it's neither man nor woman, just me IDLE"
3. They are always breaking stereotype and prejudice in every song, in this case, they want to break the stereotype of "Tomboy" itself...so it's "You'll get what I mean Tomboy" and "it's neither man nor woman, just me IDLE" again...so at the end of the day, don't define them by any gender, they are just IDLE

Yaaaaas! (G)idle it's a very unique girl group of kpop, Soyeon the girl who rap is the lider in the group and she produces and write their songs. I believe that's why the concepts of their songs are very creative. Thank you for your reactions 💖

The thing about IDLE's songs is most of their title tracks are not the "best" (I actually liked NEVER STOP ME from their B-side from this album). BUT trust me, their title tracks always says something of a statement or story. IDLE is known for being the rebel of this industry, yes, it is true that they are not popular, but like what you said they are unique.
They also have an uncensored version of the song for the CD, but some channels already edited it to the MV.
Here, "tomboy" is mostly a "female that acts like a male". SOYEON (rapper) said that it's kinda different for the song. That's why she said "You get the song right, you'll know what I mean 'Tomboy'.". In Korea, the topic of gender roles in society is kinda hot, especially in kpop industry. To them, female groups should just be cute or sweet or sexy, and just follow the company's song. Since IDLE members creates their own songs, they're already going against the flow. In one interview, SOYEON was asked why does she want to write and produce a song when it is a man's job, and she's a woman. She just replied "Why does that matter?"
Thus "TOMBOY", if they as females "cannot" do things like males in the kpop industry, then they'll just be TOMBOYs. During the 1st pre-chorus, it's not in the subs due to censorship, but MIYEON (one with suitcase) said "Call be a crazy B****, what's the loss to me? Curse at me brutally, you'll lose to me", saying the they will have more haters (more than they currently have) but it will never be their loss. They showed, like you've said, cigarettes, alcohols, swearwords, etc. During their live performances and showcase, they indeed wore metal ornaments and even pentagrams.

Personally I recommend literally any song from (G)I-DLE they are all just insane but to narrow it down I would honestly love to see your reactions to "HANN" and Uh-Oh", they're such a vibe!!

i wanted to add, since im not sure if anyone else pointed it out, but this is the first song after Soojin left, and there are a couple references in this, and other songs like Nxde, to Soojin
in Tomboy, near the end, Yuqi says "it's just me, I-DLE" leaving out the (G), and in Soyeon's room with all the writing/graffiti on the wall, it also says I-DLE with no (G)
in Nxde, the cartoon lady has the same birthmark under her eye that Soojin has, and Soojin is a huge fan of Marilyn Monroe, one of the major themes of the song
