  • The village of Muzhi, located on the land of Knyaz Lugui in Shuryshkarskiy district, was the site of the fair, where Zyryans, Russians and Ostyaks used to gather to trade sturgeon, nelma, salmon, squirrel, deer skins and other goods. In 1840 a church was built here in honor of St. Michael the Archangel as well as two houses for the clergy. And in the novel ‘Caesar Cascabel’ by Jules Verne the village of Muzhi is mentioned as a place, where once residents cordially welcomed guests, and they staged a circus performance in return. Today Muzhi turned into a small town with developed infrastructure, including a sports and recreation complex, a skiing lodge, an indoor ice court, a cinema, a museum and a youth center. They even produce their own ice cream here, using only local milk. Today it is possible to reach Muzhi in winter by winter road only or in summer by water and during the season of bad roads - by helicopter.
