  • Long-term patient Caelan is readmitted for palate surgery after swallowing caustic soda at the age of two. Meanwhile, five-year-old Lily arrives from Co Cork for further surgery to alleviate her migraines.
Temple Street follows the highs and lows of the hospitals daily routine and shares in the journey of some inspiring, insightful and unique cases. We meet the staff members who devote their lives to the children in their care, we see the struggle and joy of families who give up everything to see their child get better and we share in the happy and inspirational times, as we are confronted with the hope and courage of some very brave young patients.

I've been trying to follow the boy that drank acid, he's looking great! 54 surgeries is unbelievable, the poor family! He's very handsome.

Not sure what we'd call the chemical that he ingested as a toddler, but I think it's a cleaning product. It left him with really bad burns.

I’m sure after he drank something that said “soda” on it, and has had to deal with this for 12 plus years it’s no wonder he doesn’t drink regular sodas. Prob is scared to do so

We don’t call fizzy drinks “soda” in Ireland Scotland or England so it probably has very little corilation

Zartelle Rose nobody is making fun of this child, but what I said was a joke; why is that so hard to understand? It was meant tongue and cheek as to the word “soda” , and freaking RIDICULOUS I have to explain this to you morons. If you don’t like what someone says, fucking ignore it, Fuckface.

@@ciararobertsxx8464 Most Americans even wouldn't realize it was a joke at all. I knew you used the phrase "fizzy drinks" but I didn't know you *didn't* use the word "soda." I had literally thought the kid might've seen the word "soda" on the bottle and mistaken it for something drinkable. O_O Other than "baking soda," I've not seen the word "soda" used for anything other than a carbonated drink in the US. By "caustic soda" I'm assuming you mean drain cleaner containing NaOH? (In the US we'd refer to that chemical as lye.)

You can tell he isn't all there mentally, probably from lack of nutrition and inability to communicate. What a tragedy.
Edit: you can see it in his eyes and body movements.

He's just camera shy. I am sure he is a normal kid. Of course the injury affected him psychologically, but not mentally for god's sake.

@@alyonaf1054 I know what I'm talking about. My mother was in special education for years. Being unable to communicate and being in the hospital constantly really fucks with a child's emotional, social, and yes mental development.
