@SquirrelFromGradLife not entirely true, because there are various ways to use the glidecam so you dont have to use ridiculous amounts of weights... you can use even use up to one weight on each side and still get complete balance, the key is simply to get your vertical alignment correct, as long as you get that set you can still maintain the correct ratio because extending the pole gives you much more leverage and factors out the the missing weight.. so this guy is using it pretty well :)
gazangstudio, great video! and very helpful. just where did you find the screw-driver plate for the 3/8 " screw that attaches the camera to the Glidecam quick release plate?
Isn't it defeating the purpose of holding the stabilizing arm when you move forward? Couldn't that produce some unwanted 'bump' in the video? I have just purchased the HD2000, and hope to make nice clips such as yours. THANKS FOR THE TEST! Great stuff! :)
I hate to say it but the guy in the video is using the glide cam wrong. You need a lot of wight at the bottom to make a pendulum effect keeping the camera steady when the vertical axis moves. There should be at least as much weight on the bottom as the camera and lens weighs. Further more the lens make the camera front heavy and for optimal balance you use the sliding weights at the bottom to counter that pulling the back weight out further than the front or add more weight
as far as i know the main difference is the possibilities of adjustment. With the old ones you have to release a screw, slide everything in position and retight the screw. With the new system you can adjust everything just by turning a screw. Hmm sounds stupid.
Doesn't anyone use a regular camcorder anymore, seems like everyone is using DSLR's. Camcorders have a way better image stabilization built in, they even go further, it's called Dynamic stabilization. But with that said, you still need that glide cam for better side to side problems. But I watched lots of RUclips videos on this , and only one person used a camcorder. Why is that? I think it's because they want everything in on camera. I think the camcorders are going to die off, except for the pro guys. But hey thanks for that nice video.Thumbs up all the way. and earns a subscribe. Take a look at my channel you will see the side by side problem that I have. If you want, you probably know what I mean anyway. But take a look.
this was excellent...but take "test" off the title because it probably runs people off...most "tests" i have seen are useless footage...poorly shot at best...my "test" footage is shot, reviewed, and deleted...but what you have done is showed some creative applications for the glidecam preudo-quick release plate. prior to this i really had my doubts...
What got me was the corner of the table part. OMG!
no idea the mount had little wheels! wooohooooo! can't wait

A HD2000 test free of any footage using the "steadi" element. Incorrect title.
that head turn was classic, :D
The fact that you just used it with the base on the table was gold. I dont think you can do that with the steadicam merlin
Excelente Video. And Great Canon.
awesome work.
Such an intense video!

Great video!
I would LOVE to see how you achieved this balance
133k views for a video without even any footage of it???

He's like look at my gear and not the press conference, LOOK!
most dslr's dont have auto focus. you need to focus and try and kee the same distance while filming
you're supposed to use the glidecam not the top plate
