Isaiah 9, depicts the biblical Israel as four constellations (Leo - Scorpio) of the Mazzaroth. See the Virgo constellation with the palm frond/branch in her right hand and the bundle of wheat in her left hand……….
The preceding chapter eight ends with the word darkness, by which, as has often been seen, winter is meant. And though the people walked in darkness, they beheld a great light (the Sun); though they dwelt in the land of the shadow of death (winter), ' upon them hath that light (the new year's Sun) shined" (v. 2). "For their yoke (mid-winter) is broken and passed, and unto us a child is born; unto us a son (Sun) is given." "The government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful (phala), Counsellor, the Mighty Ram," etc., i.e., Samson, or the Sun, the Prince of Peace.
"The Lord (Adoni) sent a word unto Jacob (spring - Aries thru Cancer), and it hath lighted upon Israel (summer - Leo thru Scorpio). My reader must never confound the two Lords - Jahveh and Adoni - the first always representing summer, the last, winter. This Adoni is also Adonis who was gored by a black boar (winter)
In the example before us, Adoni sent his word unto Israel; hence, the time was winter, when "the bricks (of the temple, or summer,) are fallen down "(v. 10)." Therefore, the Lord (Jahveh) shall set up the adversaries of Rezin (spring, i.e., the winter constellations will take their places above the equinoctial line,) and join his enemies," the summer and winter." Then, with the Syrians (spring) before and the Philistines (winter) behind " (both meeting at the spring equinox), Israel (summer) will be swallowed with open mouth, i.e., the summer constellations, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, will be, at the time spoken of, one-half above and one-half below the western horizon at sunrise, and exactly between spring and winter, "swallowed with open mouth " (v. 12). Hence it happened that the Lord (Jahveh) cut from Israel both head and tail (Leo and Scorpio), branch and bush (Virgo and Libra), in one day = the equinoctial of spring. Leo is the ancient and honorable; Scorpio is the tail, is the liar, or rather, the father of lies = Satan (v. 15). The time being spring, the Lord (Adoni) has no joy in their young men (the first days of the season). Wickedness (winter) now burns as the fire burns thorns and briars, and is consumed (v 18). "Through the wrath (heat) of the Lord (Jahveh = summer) is the land darkened," i.e., when summer passes, winter succeeds; when no man shall spare his brother "(v. 19). As savages, men shall snatch on the right hand and on the left, and still go hungry. "Every man shall eat the flesh of his own arm," - each furnishes for himself both meat and drink. Manasseh (winter) shall be against Ephraim, the one supplying flesh, the other fruit; both, however, are against Judah (spring), which furnishes the cereals = bread.

I also feel it is important that Paul believed it was “a virgin” and not just a “young woman.” Saul was a well studied religious man. He knew the Old Testament. The fact he was on his way to kill Christians and then converted would lend authority to the fact it was “virgin” in Isaiah. Although that is circumstantial evidence to an anti missionary

Neither he nor the Sanhedrin (nor rabbis) had any authority to kill people in Syria, which was not even a Roman province and the rabbis had no jurisdiction there.

If Almah is an unmarried girl, mary CANNOT fall into that category cuz she was already betrothed. But what luke says, reveals that the story is a fabrication cuz if she is about to get married soon, why on earth is she surprised that she'll have a child? That's the outcome of getting married.
I do find the claim that she was pregnant from the holy spirit quite a hilarious excuse as to why an unwed girl suddenly became pregnant.

Its amazing that in the entire video, they went back and forth, chapter after chapter trying to make the word " almah" fit their narrative, but they couldnt even mention Isaiah 8:3, "And I was intimate with the prophetess, and she conceived, and she bore a son, and the Lord said to me, "Call his name Maher-shalal-hash-baz". Emmanuel was to be named by Isaiahs wife, the prophetess, as declared by God, and Maher...by Isaiah. Both Emmanuel and Maher are one in the same. This is what happens when you try to attach a narrative to a clear text. Intimate describes the sexual action, erasing any doubts about a Virgin narrative..

The way of a man with a virgin. I've always understood this to mean a man winning a young woman's heart for marriage and all the intricacies that are involved in that. Just like the miracle of an eagle conquering the sky and the smooth bellied snake able to move across the smooth rock and a heavy ship which by all intuition should sink instead conquers the sea, the intricacies and precision and balance of these relationships and the laws that govern them is truly a wonder. Love is one of those wonders by which a man conquers the heart of a virgin.

Your using verse Gen. 24:43, saying it OBVIOUSLY means virgin is clearly incorrect! First of all, earlier in the chapter Rivkah is ALREADY labeled as a virgin, who knew not man, and the word ALMAH is NOT used there! Second, in verse 43, it is Eliezer who is speaking and there is NO WAY he would insult the family he is speaking to, to call the YOUNG WOMAN a virgin! How would he know??
Quite the opposite! The usage there only makes sense if he is saying, "And I asked God for a sign... the YOUNG woman who would..."
    With all due respect...

All of you guys are literally doing God's work especially with these series about connecting our Christian roots to the Jewish traditions as we discover 'the mystery of our faiths' together. Proverbs 30:18-19 sounds like a verbal meme to me. 'Love' is difficult to define due to its mysterious character but allusions are given such that something heavy can fly (like an eagle in the sky), something with no legs can move (like snakes on the rocks) or that something heavier than a human can float (like the ship on the sea) which is connected to how a man can take the heart of an almah (the way of a man) which is unfortunately described as the same kind of 'way of a man' used by an adulterous woman.

Great use of Isa 54 in full context to show that almah means a young virgin.
Betulah does not mean "virgin" in the English sense of the word. Betulah means a chaste woman who was a virgin before marriage and was faithful to one husband after marriage.
Joel 1:8 says "wail like a betulah concerning the husband of her youth. The word "husband" in this verse is baal, which specifically refers to the man after he has had relations with his wife (Deut 21:13). The phrase "husband of her youth" corresponds to "wife of your youth" in Prov 5:18; Isa 54:6; Mal 2:14-15, and means they have been married for a long time since their youth.
Other verses where betulah refers to married women are Est 2:17, 19 where the king's new wives are still called betulot after spending the night with the king. Before spending the night with the king they are called naarot betulot (young unmarried betulot) (Est 2:2-3), but after spending the night with the king they are just called betulot.
There is also Deu 22:19. This verse is weaker, but when considered in addition to Joel 1:8 & Est 2, it confirms the meaning of bethulah as a chaste woman, married or not.
Any time in the Bible where bethulah is meant to mean "virgin" extra words are included to make it mean that (i.e. Gen 24:16; Exo 22:16; Lev 21:3; Jdg 21:12 …)
The verse you used to prove that bethulah means "virgin" has the extra qualifying phrase "who had not been betrothed". This commandment pertains to a particular type of betulah who had not been betrothed, which includes had never been married.
If Isa 7:14 had used the word bethulah, then it could just mean a normal birth.

@@Spud-i9r I think Isa 54:1 includes both unmarried and married without children. The word "barren" always refers to a married woman who has not born children. Then the end of the verse "more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife" contrasts one without a husband to one who is married. Then v4 "you shall forget the shame of your youth (alumim), referring to the time before marriage.

Not even a partial fulfillment, really! Wow! This is good scholarship, guys! Fascinating about the word play as well, which lends even more support. For a woman to simply have a son would not be a sign as deep or as high as one could go; it would be fairly normal. The reason is that the Apostles were quoting from the Septuagint (the Greek translation of an older Hebrew Old Testament text), not the later Masoretic text family that we use in our modern bibles today. The Rabbis later changed the text in their rejection of Jesus to alma, "young woman", because the Christians were using the Septuagint to prove that Jesus was the Christ born of the virgin, being Mary. The word in the Septuagint MEANS virgin directly, unlike the Masoretic that was intentionally changed to NOT mean virgin. You can read about this in the writings of the Ante Nicene Father's. The Jews called the Septuagint the bible of the "Christians" and made their OWN translation of the scriptures, where they changed prophecies that the Christians used to clearly show Jesus was the Christ. Isaiah 7:14 is one of those prophecies.

Interesting, did Jewish writer of Hebrew Bible called Masoretic dated 7-9th century AD DISTORT the original Hebrew READING "Bethulah" into "Alma"? Is there any historical evidence for that whom I know as far as Devotee Jewish Rabbim will not tampered their beloved sacred holy Tanakj for sake to embarrash Christian popular cited Isaiah 7:14 of Matthew 1:23, personally I objection on that assumption no historical proof. Or else the Muslim world have reason criticise People of the Book (Jew & Christian) change thr prophesy to Muhammad both name and description.
No faithful Jew distort the Tanakh they prepare died than fall into divine judgment!
So I quiet agree with our Messianic Jew brothers interpretation that Alma is not literal but shade of meanings use in historical prophetic context. I argued this with one ultra-orthodox Jew (an archaelogist) that I cited story of Rebecca. If read carefully the context setting of Genesis 24: 16 (bethulah), 43 (haAlmah) here Rebecca called bethulah (virgin/unmarried girl but marriageable age/woman never touch by man) and alma (young woman marriageable age but still under the care of parent as long unmarried or never touch) and in short both Hebrew words speak either unmarriage girl/woman and chaste marriageable age and able bear child in her womb.
The probability Matthew use Septuagint glimpse which popular in first century were Hellenist is the International language during Greecian era (before Roman the Latinos language popularise in around 4th century).

Of course, you would pull your ox out of a ditch--save the ox-- which is work that you aren't supposed to do on Sabbath. No work, no healing. Jesus showed the hypocrisy and lies concerning Sabbath.
Look up more on the Sabbath day. It does get confusing.

@@atgred Ok sure! So for example, they claim that the word Alumayich in Isaiah 54:4 means virginity based on their interpretation (which is questionable though I won't get into that now). Virtually all christian bible translation, translate the word as Youth, not virginity. The only bible translation that translates it as virginity is the legacy standard bible which itself is inconsistent (as I'll demonstrate). The problem with these guys' method is that they ignore other times where this word is used and CANNOT mean virgin. For example:
      Job 33:25
      יָ֝שׁ֗וּב לִימֵ֥י עֲלוּמָֽיו
      Yashuv Limei ALUMAV
He will return to the days OF HIS YOUTH
      Psalm 89:46
      הִ֭קְצַרְתָּ יְמֵ֣י עֲלוּמָ֑יו
      Hiqtzarta Yimei ALUMAV
You cut the days OF HIS YOUTH
Which even over there, the legacy standard bible translates as youth not virginity.
This is just one example of their dishonesty though I can give more if you're interested.

There was one key thing that helped me get over the claim that "virgin" was mistranslated in Isaiah 7:14 "Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel." It wouldn't be much of sign at all if a woman conceived, would it? That happens every day all over the world. No, that's not enough to warrant a verse in the Bible.
Only if the woman were a virgin does it become a SIGN.

    • @LuisGonzalez-rm5vx
      @LuisGonzalez-rm5vx Год назад

For one you should continue reading because the sign isn't just Isaiah 7:14 it is Isaiah 7:14-16 which clearly explains that the actual sign is the maturity of the child when they know right from wrong.
There is know way to tell the difference between a women who conceived and is actually a virgin and women who conceived and is not actually a result of a virgin conception.
So personally i think a virgin birth is a terrible sign becaue there's no way to know if she was actually a virgin, she could easily be lying and you would be none the wiser.

  • @ehhe4381

I think the context is important. If you were to show a sign to Ahaz from the deepest depths or in the highest heights what would be selected: A. a young non-virgin woman becoming pregnant? Meh, it happens all the time.B. A virgin who IS pregnant? that would be a sugn.

16: For before the child knows how to refuse the evil and choose the good, the land before whose two kings you are in dread will be deserted.
So yes, the alma is not the sign. And it's strange how this should refer to Messiah. Sincerely, a believer in Yeshua who's honest

    • @LuisGonzalez-rm5vx
      @LuisGonzalez-rm5vx Год назад +1

This a great point. Christians focus on Isaiah 7:14 but the sign is actually Isaiah 7:14 -16, that is where it talks about the sign which is actually is when the child knows wrong from right.
Also it's seems like this talk about Jesus and Isaiah 7:14 is just an attempt to force Jesus into the text. Especially when the immediate context of the chapter is that the sign in Isaiah 7:14-16 is for Ahaz. It's only later that Christianity tries to twist it and claim that it's about Jesus.

    Two questions
    Deut. 19:15
By the mouth of two witnesses, all matters shall be established.
Even Paul says the same thing. Well, where is the second witness besides Isaiah that she will be a pregnant virgin? Please don't quote new testament because the new testament did not exist when Jesus was here on earth.
    2. Deuteronomy 22:23 if A woman is engaged, you can't take her because she's already engaged. Why then does God trespass his own law that she was promised to Joseph but he then miraculously impregnates her by divine intervention?

But, since I know that all you [Jewish leaders] deny the authenticity of these passages, I will not start a discussion about them, but I will limit the controversy to those passages which you admit as genuine. Thus far, you have admitted the authenticity of all my quotations, except this,_ *_“Behold, a virgin shall conceive,” which you claim reads, “Behold, a young woman shall conceive.”_* _And I promised to show that this prophecy was not spoken of Hezekiah, as you were taught, but of my Christ. *The Syriac Peshitta of Isaiah 7:14* reads as follows: _“chaste girl” or “virgin_

I'm watching this again, about a year later than the first time. I picked up on the passage of Proverbs 30:18-19 and I don't want to make it sound pornographic, but what does it mean when the Almah in modern times "eats, and wipes her mouth?" I am thinking about something that some women do to men that involves their mouth, and that would never leave an observable trace. What do you think about that line of thinking? Please don't think that my mind is in the gutter here because I am a celebate single Christian man, but when you talked about the eagle flying and not leaving a trace, and then you said that if the woman had fornicated that she would have been pregnant, which is an obvious trace, I just used the rest of the text there and it was a possible scenario that came to mind.

In 2019 I had this dream about Rashida Tlaib.
She was about to give a White House press briefing. Reporters were seated in chairs in rows facing the podium. Behind the reporters was a door. Just as Rashida was about to speak, before she could say a word, she noticed something in her mouth. She spit out one of her canine teeth into her hand and froze in shock. She regained composure and tried again to start her speech. Again she noticed something in her mouth. This time she spit her tongue out into her palm. She froze completely in shock. Her skin peeled away and a goat head demon was standing at the podium. A piece of land fell into the Atlantic and caused a giant wave. A piece of the wave came in the door behind the reporters and down the center aisle to the podium. The wave lapped her up and took her out the door for all the reporters to see.
I believe Rashida who is Palestinian and American and government represents the US government becoming one with the enemies of Israel. I believe her canine tooth is the instrument of attack being broken off. I believe her tongue was America losing it's voice to speak. I believe the demon is the demonic possession of our administration. And God will make an example of America for the world to see.

In the context of "CHIOR (Musical) Director" or "[stringed] musical instruments" & when the Hebrew word AL "FOR (concerning, on, over)" precedes ALA-MOṬ "young women," ALA-MOṬ may mean: "[the soprano voices of] young women" (Ps. 46:0 [1]; 1 Chron. 15:29). In the "Mariology" of both the Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox Churches... she is a "forever" virgin. Can this be proven or disproven by how she if referred to in the texts alone? Uzzah died after touching the Ark of the Covenant because it was holy. How much more Joseph defiling the womb that bore the ‘uncontainable God’. Also, the ‘brothers’ of Jesus were never called the ‘sons of Mary’, only Jesus was called the Son of Mary. Jesus would not have left the care of His mother to John if His mother had other biological children. If she had other children she would not be called to this day ‘the Virgin Mary’.

She and the other apostles who wrote the New Testament were "literally" Hebrews... Jews... and it would be fascinating to know how they referred to Mary's personhood! What was she called by? I will believe the 1st century CE Hebraic terminology of address as to Mary's status and personhood... before I would think or trust a 2nd century to 20th century interpretation based on church traditions. Firstly, I’ve disproved your notion that Mary had other children. She didn’t she remained a virgin.
Funny how you mention you wouldn’t trust ‘Church Tradition’ when the Church gave us the Bible. Even Paul said ‘Hold fast to the Tradiitions taught by us either by word or Epistle’.
Jesus referred to His mother as ‘woman’ a term of endearment. The Church gave her the title ‘Theotokos’ God-bearer. Obviously it wasn’t important how others addressed her otherwise it would’ve been mentioned in the Bible. She was the mother of Jesus. Good luck in searching for her title outside the Church. Let me know I’’d be interested to know as well.

Beṭulah means both "a virgin" & "a chaste (celibate) woman." Rivqah (Rebecca) was a "virgin" b/c she hadn't slept with a man yet (Gen. 24:16). Without those following words, the reader wouldn't know if Rivqah was a virgin or a chaste woman. - I believe Mattai (Matthew) was incorporating the fulfilled meaning of what Isaiah said. He does that with his other quoting from the Old Testament where he changes the words but the wording doesn't negate or contradict what an OT prophet wrote. After all, Mariam (Mary) was both a virgin & a young woman. Mattai uses the word "virgin" instead of "young woman" b/c he wants to let his readers know what the "sign" was. A young woman giving birth to a son is clearly not a good sign b/c that happens all the time. It's not unique. - (Isaiah 7:14) says SHE [Mariam] will call [וְקָרָאת] her son Immanuel [MT, Tgm, GrkOT supports consonantal text but read as: וְקָרָאתָ]. Later, the people of God will recognize this boy [person] as Immanuel (Isaiah 8:8). That's why Mattai writes, "& THEY shall call his name Immanuel" (Matt. 1:23). Otherwise, the Dead Sea Scroll Hebrew Text says: “& His Name will be called [וְנִקרָא שְמוֹ],” & that reading is also supported by the Hebrew Text used for the translation of the Syriac P’shitta & Latin Vulgate OT Translations. Since that text doesn’t say who will call him that name, Mattai lets us know that his parents and Christian believers will call Yeshua Immanuel, which is his & our renown.

The Hebrew of Isaiah 7:14 says: *"Therefore the Lord, He, even He WILL GIVE you a sign: Behold, the Young Woman IS [will be] pregnant (adj. - HA-RAH) & IS [will be] bearing a son, & she WILL CALL his name (renown) Immanuel."* - It can have a future meaning (See JPS, etc.) in reference to the literal young woman & virgin along with the boy.
Note: The Hebrew word HA-RAH (pregnant) [BibleHub] is an adjective. It isn't the verb HA-RAH "HE conceived (became pregnant, etc.)" The feminine is HA-RA-THAH "she became pregnant (had conceived)" [Gen. 16:4]. James Strong's Exhaustive Concordance only lists this entry as a verb but the same spelling is also a feminine adjective. James Strong does give the entries for the KJV rendering of "with child" though. Those words fill in for the adjective "pregnant."

I can't say enough how amazing your work is. I am realizing how little knowledge I have of the Hebrew Scriptures. I do mean to ask one question: what is the correct way for a cradle Christian to refer to the Hebrew Scriptures? Calling it the "Old Testament" gives the appearance of it being obsolete or superseded (rather than completed); but calling it the Tanakh feels like cultural appropriation.
Thank you and God bless your ministry, your work, and may His blessings be upon the Jewish people forever.

Perhaps the best ways to refer te the "Old Testament" would be the "Hebrew Scriptures" or the "Tanakh"

*It's also important to read the LXX of ISAIAH 7* - you will see that the Scribes removed a sentence - see below - this would be called TIQQUN SEFORIM.
      *ISAIAH 7:10-17 LXX*
10 And the Lord again spoke to Achaz, saying,

13And he said, *Hear ye now, O house of David* ; is it a little thing for you to contend with men? and how do ye contend against the Lord?
14Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; behold, *a virgin* shall conceive in the womb, and shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Emmanuel.

*_Justin Martyr argues that the scribes altered Isaiah 7:14_* 👇
_“‘I certainly do not trust your teachers when they refuse to admit that the translation of the Scriptures made by the seventy elders at the court of King Ptolemy of Egypt is a correct one, and attempt to make their own translation. You should also know that they have deleted entire passages from the version composed by those elders at the court of Ptolemy, in which it is clearly indicated that the Crucified One was foretold as God and man, and as about to suffer death on the cross. This I now intend to prove.”_ *_(Justin, Dialogue with Trypho the Rabbinical Jew 71, 150 AD)_*
*_Also interesting is Justin Martyr claims the scribes altered Psalm 95:10_* _Justin accuses the scribes of omitting the words_ *_ἀπὸ τοῦ ξύλου_* _(From the wood) following the phrase_ *_ὁ κύριος ἐβασίλευσεν_* _(The Master Reigns)_ because they prove the deity and the crucifixion of Christ. (Dial 73:1-2).
*_So much for the antimissionary denying the LXX of the prophets_*
*The Syriac Peshitta of Isaiah 7:14* reads as follows: _“chaste girl” or “virgin_
*_So, in addition to the NT, we have evidence of the original interpretation from 3 other sources, that the scribes altered Isaiah 7:14_*

TomMuse Beloved,I am troubled by something which was not presented in this video with Drs. Broshi and Postell. They stated that almah was used in reference to Rivka, in Genesis 24:43, which was correct. However, they failed to mention the connection to Genesis 24:16in which betulah was used. The following comment is that "and no man had known her." Which would appear to indicate that betulah does not mean virgin. Why would it be necessary to add that note of commentary otherwise? Could you please explain how to resolve this? Thank you for your time, ministry, and all the wonderful music, teaching, and encouraging videoes.
