    Thanks for the video. I’m thinking of starting a part-time business growing mushrooms, microgreens and herbs for local chefs. I commute daily through two towns, so I figure I could do a couple deliveries per day. And possibly pick up waste coffee along the way. I’d like it to eventually become my full-time gig. Will definitely download your e-book and sign up for the course!

      Great for worm compost, makes nutrient rich castings. Both the booming worm population and the castings have real value. Some worm species can be sold for protein, organic chicken feed- others suitable as prime fishing bait. The castings are exceptional organic fertilizer/ soil conditioner.

    I've grown some about thirty years ago, and I've often thought about growing some for marketing, I just don't know where my market would be, restaurants? or grocery stores? I would love to start a small mushroom farm, cause I'm retired and need something to do, but I would hate to have a bunch of them spoil because I wasn't able to market them.

    • @CuriousEarthMan
      @CuriousEarthMan 3 года назад +20

      I'd like to encourage you to start growing them :) From point A, it can be very hard to see point D and so we doubt point D (selling your mushrooms) even exists. Each step a person takes, puts them in a different place and illuminates a new perspective or view of what is possible. Your market will be "people", not really buildings or inanimate objects. So you start to grow them, the mushrooms, and each step of the way, you introduce yourself to people who you calculate are the most likely to buy them. you try, sometimes you 'fail', but you learn, then you try again. You may 'lack' sales in the beginning, but before it might spoil, you can give your product to food banks or meals on wheels, or to chefs who are potential buyers, or even to a cooking school. In the long run, it won't be wasted. You can see about selling at farmer's markets to test the results. You can contact a wholesaler once you are up and running to some degree (somewhat reliable) At this time, you may not know who your market will be, but you will find out the answer, or many answers, by beginning and sticking with it. Fear of the unknown and fear of failure must be recognized as temporary obstacles which dissolve as you make a sustained effort and accumulate experience and knowledge. If you need any help figuring out a good perspective, or solving mental/practical issues with your success, I'd be happy to help you. Goals, action and persistence are three necessary ingredients for success. I wish you great success, as that will be an example of your validating the goodness and worthy desire that already exists within you, which you wish to share with others.

    How come you can sell grow kits people can stick in their living room and watch grow, yet if you grow them as a business you need a specialised room. I don’t get it

    • @GroCycleTV
      @GroCycleTV  7 месяцев назад +1

      Mushroom kits are easy to grow at home, but you still need the right conditions, such as humidity, fresh air and light. You can do this at home by placing in indirect light, spritzing/misting daily, etc. - but you wouldn't want to do that on a commercial scale. That's why we use a controlled fruiting room where we can create the right conditions. We may have up to 700 fruiting blocks in there at full capacity, and we simply wouldn't have the time to tend to each block individually. Hope that makes sense and clarifies things!

      @larrent5863 Год назад

      Its personal preference. Bags can be easier to harvest from in a commercial setting. They also don't take up as much space as toats. However, one could argue that one has more control of the variables of mushrooms in the toats, but that would be a lot more to manage for a company with a humidity and temperature controlled building.
