She had a good run she was going to fall anyway I seen the video when it first happened and it was a Fair race they were running so fast but it was a good run that's what happened when you run that fast and you don't get that far unless you have lots of experience so it's sad when you lose but she came in second place
Look at the race from a different angle. The tall girl did not hit her or trip her, the short lady tripped on her own ankle. There is a video that shows this from a different angle and the tall girl had nothing to do with the short girl falling .
The tall girl positioned herself from the beginning on the left side of her line. She knew that it would be extremely hard to catch the smaller girl. Her strategy is obvious thinking that we are talking about professional athletes.
No, if you look more carefully, the short girl lost the counterbalance of her right arm as it started its downswing because it was struck by the left arm of the big girl. That's when you see the short girl's torso torque forward and to the left out of synch. THEN, she trips.

It appears there was lane encroachment and slight contact made by the big blue girl that was just enough to impact the stride/rhythm of the small girl. Rules interpretation depends a lot on the sponsoring authority, type of race and what rules were in place when the event was run. Basically, any time you leave your designated lane AND obstruct another runner you can be disqualified. Some race authorities might allow drift once or twice without disqualification.The announcer clearly indicated she hit the adjoining runner who was in the center of her lane. Video appears to show she was running on or over the line for more than two steps. Even if she never left her lane but struck the other runner with her elbow so as restrain her movement in a laned race, I would think she could be DQed.
The taller athlete was eyeing her as she approached. That elbow was intentional and she should not only be disqualified from the race, but banned from future races and any other track & field events she might compete in.

Rules interpretation depends a lot on the sponsoring authority, type of race and what rules were in place when the event was run. Basically, any time you leave your designated lane AND obstruct another runner you can be disqualified. Some race authorities might allow drift once or twice without disqualification.The announcer clearly indicated she hit the adjoining runner who was in the center of her lane. Video appears to show she was running on or over the line for more than two steps. Even if she never left her lane but struck the other runner with her elbow so as restrain her movement in a laned race, I would think she could be DQed.
She should have been disqualified!
The taller athlete was eyeing her as she approached. That elbow was intentional and she should not only be disqualified from the race, but banned from future races and any other track & field events she might compete in.

Tall girl should be punished, as the smaller one could have been injured. Prize for the smaller competitor!
She got hit as she was falling...you can see that the tall girl didn't leave her lane
