Entering the city of tears with 1 mask of health and seeing quirrel there on a bench with an empty space me was when I realised that hollow knight was the best game I had ever played. I remember just sitting there, as the city of tears theme slowly faded in. Hollow knight is amazing.
The vibe was absolutely beautiful, I sat there with quirrel for 10 minutes i think, and i couldn't help but tear up slightly, i didn't fully cry but i still did shed a tear, this game did not need to go so hard on literally everything but it still did

Man, Quirrel's such a lovely character. Team Cherry did such a good job with his encounters, making him appear in these really quiet, contemplative spots that make you associate him with peace, getting to take a moment with a friend. @@boazba6667 yeah so eventually the radiance might escape aswell if you get the first 2 endings but if you just kill the radiance no one will ever have to deal with a radiance
@@justaguywhoisakillerforfun605Being pure isn't the same as being void. The "no will" bit is directly contradicted by the Void Heart charm description(!), which "unites the void under *the bearer's will."* At the bare minimum, then, our knight cannot both have the Void Heart _and_ be a "pure" vessel. in the pale kings throne, it says "sit" instead of "rest" as well. but you can also change your charms there, so ig it also counts as a bench. its also the only bench that the knight wont sleep when sitting on it
I think that that that Last ecounter with Quirrel (the one were you sit with him at the blue lake) makes us think of how precious is every moment we pass with our dear. Because every moment can be the last one...
Best bug Quirrel :´( I like Quirrel and Cloth the most My headcanon: he's actually just gone for a quick swim in Blue Lake The Knight in game never waits long enough for him to come out again, but rest assured, in the world of Hallownest, sweet boomer buggy will soon climb up the bank and wring out his headscarf with a little laugh and a greeting: "Why are you crying, dear friend? My nail? Well, it's not very practical to bring a weapon along while swimming, is it?"
Fun but also sad fact!! if you listen to quirrels voice clip at blue lake, and compare it to the rest of his voice clips, he sounds older. and that’s basically a reference to the line once you kill monomon, where he says: “I’m starting to feel my age”
I was so confused and turned around in City of Tears (like half an hour, don’t ask-) and it made me get attached to Quirrel cuz he was my bench buddy ;v; Now City of Tears is my favorite place. The name is fitting, isn’t it?
One really heartbreaking detail after the uumuu fight is that his voice has changed. Before he was happy and polite, but now he sounds exhausted and withered. It's almost like fulfilling his purpose was the only thing that kept him going, sounds like something Ghost can relate to doesn't it? As sad as it is, my head cannon is that at the lake he just stepped in and let himself sink, he'd witnessed the beginning and end of a kingdom, he helped us in our war against a God, he felt like there just wasn't anything left for him, since everyone he ever knew is dead
Curiously, he says in tear city that he wants to know where the rain comes from. And because of the map layout, the blue lake is where it comes from. And there is the last point where you find it
I only encountered quirrel in the big jellyfish boss fight, and I found the lake where he dies before I found him anywhere else. So I was like “Ok coolio” when he died
Thank you so much for making this. Quirrel is one of my most favorite characters in Hollow Knight. I just had the final encounter with him at Blue Lake. I missed the Deepnest one and maybe the Crystal Peak one, along with the dialogue before Monomon, since it’s my first time playing. However, I sat through this entire video after the encounter Blue Lake. I miss Quirrel. ;o;
my boi quirrel. the one true friend to ghost throughout their journey. he is forever in our memory. thank you, team cherry. thank you for giving me this game. thank you for giving us memorable characters. thank you.
I made the biggest mistake in my life, I went to blue lake and found him sitting there, I talked to him then sat next to him. I toke a screenshot but I had the defenders crest and the fly charm thing in so it looked bad. I went to the bench to remove them so I can have a mode peaceful SS, when I came back I saw his sword… and now I’m devistated… I even missed some of the encounters cuz I probably found it too early
I love how Quirrel has dream nail dialogue, even when you’re not expected to have it early on in the game. It really shows how much attention to detail went into the making of this game. I have nothing but respect for Team Cherry and I don’t care what others say. I’m still hyped for Silksong.
And to think, the Knight is truly hollow. We the Player may feel emotions about the characters we come across and bow our head to portray our gratitude or sorrow, but the Knight feels nothing. . .
_"To live an age, yet remember so little... Perhaps I should be thankful?"_ That line always hit home. Quirrel has lived more than almost anyone in Hallownest and outside Hallownest, and despite losing his memories, he has seen some messed up stuff. So, when he actually looks back at his life, instead of feeling sorry for not remembering anything, he is grateful, because thanks to this he was spared further suffering.
Quirrel ...!!!! '>.< Rest in peace - my friend! -_- His last scene is so sad - but at the same time one of the most epic moments in den whole game! ^^ Thanks for sharing this video! You definitly deserve more subs - I'll leave you #237! Have a nice weekend, take care & stay safe & healthy!!
My Canon is that after the game (THK ending) The Knight is locked up in the black egg eith hornet and thk building a dome around it to make it extra secure they go to the city of tears rip out the hollow knight statue and build a statue of the knight hornet and THK then go to the Abyss helping every vessel by making then new cloaks taping their shells back together etc. Then help them up to hollownest whether thats making the platforming easier or just building a staircase Quirrel is alive and doing quite well he was just getting back a family relic that he dropped in the lake and is now a teacher in dirtmouth to teach some of the vessel and any other child how to speak write etc THK learns how to think speak and gets a robotic arm or smthn idk and becomes the new king of hollownest while Hornet sets off to go to Pharloom I can't rlly think of anything else
Didnt pay attention to lore that much especially if it is read and didnt know that he died so F. He was pretty noticable along with cloth and obviusly hornet in my gameplay though they were great to meet
What happened to him? Edit:yeah..i know that he died nowdays,i just forgot about this comment and don't remember geting notified from many responses on it. What i think that happened was that the dreamer mask made him somehow immune to dying of age or something like that, and when he handed it over to the dreamer he started to get old really fast, and then, went to the lake and turned into dust after sometime.
@@MK_Dany But where did his body go tho? I mean I agree with that hes probably dead now but I've no idea how it happened, because if he'd drown himself then there should have been a body floating in the water (like the nailsmith in the junk pit if you choose to kill him) Did he tie himself to a rock to make himself sink? Or did he just leave his weapon there, walked out, and let the next creature he encountered kill him without fighting it? What he do...
@@HannaOsk96 Unfortunately, is a 100% confirmed death. In the game files, the image referred to his nail near the lake is named "quirrel_death_nail", so...
The saddest thing is that the game implies that quirrel died, seeing as he talked about his age and the importance of having a weapon, I make sure to visit that nail occasionally to mourn
If Silksong is indeed a prequel, we need to meet Quirrel, I mean, he and Hornet have already met in the comic, I think a Boss fight with him would be cool. Then at the end of the fight, Hornet hits the mask like in the comic
When i saw him at the lake i didn't know that was the last time i was seeing him 😔 I thought to myself "gee i wonder where else this guy will appear" oh what a naive person i was😢
I missed some of these encounters, as a result he didn't leave that much of an impression in my first run, not until the boss fight in the Teacher's Archives, I even mistook him for Tiso lmao. But the lake scene has something really deep with it, though I moved on so fast that I didn't even know I can sit down with him ToT

Fun but also sad fact!! if you listen to quirrels voice clip at blue lake, and compare it to the rest of his voice clips, he sounds older. and that’s basically a reference to the line once you kill monomon, where he says:
“I’m starting to feel my age”
I’ve been looking for a Quirrel compilation with the dream nail dialogue. Thank you!
Im a huge simp for Quirrel lmao-
Arent we all?
I was so confused and turned around in City of Tears (like half an hour, don’t ask-) and it made me get attached to Quirrel cuz he was my bench buddy ;v;
Now City of Tears is my favorite place. The name is fitting, isn’t it?
0:50 I love how cheerful he sounds
One really heartbreaking detail after the uumuu fight is that his voice has changed. Before he was happy and polite, but now he sounds exhausted and withered. It's almost like fulfilling his purpose was the only thing that kept him going, sounds like something Ghost can relate to doesn't it?
As sad as it is, my head cannon is that at the lake he just stepped in and let himself sink, he'd witnessed the beginning and end of a kingdom, he helped us in our war against a God, he felt like there just wasn't anything left for him, since everyone he ever knew is dead
Its curious how, in the black egg temple, they put Quirrel's mask near to Monomon's mask, just to catch your attention
4:42 why do I hear him saying "nya"
lmao
He went on to other lands, perhaps. Being endowed knowledge by Monomon, maybe he can retain his mind even as he leaves the Kingdom
Isn't it widely believed he commits suicide?
@@hastur-thekinginyellow8115 Let me have my hope
@@KuraSourTakanHour the files say quirrel death nail. im sorry my guy..
The only reason I’m watching this is because I fought UumuU early so I didn’t see Quirrel in some locations :c
R.I.P Quirrel
sometimes i come back and watch this video just to feel something
"The dead should not be burdened by such things"
//sob
Doesnt help my feels that little Ghost seems to slightly bow down to the nail the longer it was stared upon :(
No that's him/her using the control stick to look down in a bow as a mark of respect. I always do it with the nailmasters too
Curiously, he says in tear city that he wants to know where the rain comes from. And because of the map layout, the blue lake is where it comes from. And there is the last point where you find it
You have no idea how happy I was seeing quirrel during the uumuu fight
someone make a video with the " here comes the boy " audio and just show a bunch of quirrel screenshots in his honor
I only encountered quirrel in the big jellyfish boss fight, and I found the lake where he dies before I found him anywhere else. So I was like
“Ok coolio” when he died
THAT A SIN AN ABSOLUTE SIN
YOU DARE ACT LIKE NOTHING?!GUILTY GUILTY!!!
(Sorry for being rude)
Restart the game and repent
I'm confused. How did you avoid all the encounters?
Quote Of The Year:''Seruna Saroke''
The reason the city of tears is always raining is because it’s not the lake
it’s the tears of anyone who played hollow knight
Thank you so much for making this. Quirrel is one of my most favorite characters in Hollow Knight. I just had the final encounter with him at Blue Lake. I missed the Deepnest one and maybe the Crystal Peak one, along with the dialogue before Monomon, since it’s my first time playing. However, I sat through this entire video after the encounter Blue Lake. I miss Quirrel. ;o;

@@markelley9710 encounter at the Blue Lake
this game does not spare you of your emotions. leaving Quirrell is about the saddest thing in this game.
my boi quirrel. the one true friend to ghost throughout their journey. he is forever in our memory.
thank you, team cherry.
thank you for giving me this game.
thank you for giving us memorable characters.
thank you.
Hopefully he shows up in Silksong... I still miss him
if not maybe some memory of him will be in silksong
8:25 Oh Quirrel , just wait till they turn into the Shade Lord
I havent even gone to the blue lake after teacher and now I see this I dont really want to go there and see him for the last time
I made the biggest mistake in my life, I went to blue lake and found him sitting there, I talked to him then sat next to him.
We the Player may feel emotions about the characters we come across and bow our head to portray our gratitude or sorrow, but the Knight feels nothing. . .
True
who else came back just to see quirrel one last time
After silksong the 3rd game should be about quirrel
Quirrel is transforming into the most powerful creature ever more powerful than the radiance:
Squirrel
One of the only characters I care about
Kekkum! Nekiiro, nekiiro!
I can't stop myself from crying. Seriously. I really liked him. Now he's gone...i feel so empty right now.....But,he'll stay in my heart forever.
_"To live an age, yet remember so little... Perhaps I should be thankful?"_
That line always hit home.
Light for monomon
Woah duck head I didn’t expect you to know what hollow knight is
@@geezsneeze9694 it's not the real one
Quirrel ...!!!! '>.<
Rest in peace - my friend! -_-
His last scene is so sad - but at the
same time one of the most epic moments
in den whole game! ^^
Thanks for sharing this video!
Then help them up to hollownest whether thats making the platforming easier or just building a staircase Quirrel is alive and doing quite well he was just getting back a family relic that he dropped in the lake and is now a teacher in dirtmouth to teach some of the vessel and any other child how to speak write etc THK learns how to think speak and gets a robotic arm or smthn idk and becomes the new king of hollownest while Hornet sets off to go to Pharloom
I can't rlly think of anything else
Dammit I missed so many. Could have spent so much more time with Quirrel before I erased Monomon from existence
Quirrel
He was my boi I barely got to do half the things he would have done but
It was a fun time none the less
RIP sweet king
I’ve never seen the mantis village interaction I always go to deep nest right after mantis lords

I cried at the 2nd blue encounter
Didnt pay attention to lore that much especially if it is read and didnt know that he died so F. He was pretty noticable along with cloth and obviusly hornet in my gameplay though they were great to meet
Without the horns the little knight could look like a legoman.
What heathens disliked the Quirrel video?!
In a place where every moving thing wanted to kill us, he was the only friend we had.
So happy that on my first playthrough, I found all of these but the Deepnest one.
Who needs therapy when you have this?
Quirrel is my favorite npc besides cloth
See, this is why I just never talk to him at blue lake so he never has to die!
The last part where you sit right next to Quirrel
It's my background image in Xbox one, best character from the whole game
What happened to him?
Edit:yeah..i know that he died nowdays,i just forgot about this comment and don't remember geting notified from many responses on it.
What i think that happened was that the dreamer mask made him somehow immune to dying of age or something like that, and when he handed it over to the dreamer he started to get old really fast, and then, went to the lake and turned into dust after sometime.
He died by suicide in the blue lake
Either drowned himself or left Hollownest.
@@littlemissprettybird if he left hollownest then he would have taken his sword with him probably
@@MK_Dany But where did his body go tho? I mean I agree with that hes probably dead now but I've no idea how it happened, because if he'd drown himself then there should have been a body floating in the water (like the nailsmith in the junk pit if you choose to kill him)
Did he tie himself to a rock to make himself sink? Or did he just leave his weapon there, walked out, and let the next creature he encountered kill him without fighting it? What he do...
@@HannaOsk96 Unfortunately, is a 100% confirmed death. In the game files, the image referred to his nail near the lake is named "quirrel_death_nail", so...
I want to hug quirrel so hard and tell him how much he means to me but I can’t and that makes me sad
Hollow Knight feels infinitely lonelier without him :(
We want hornet not to be an orphan and for quirrel to stay alive (stay with us the benches though)
damn, i missed alot of encounters of quirrel, i didnt know where to go
after knowing quirrel's fate. I'm never dreamnailing the dreamers xD
On the last encounter he sounds so sad
Thank you for doing this :)
HE WANTED TO SEE THE SOURCE OF THE WATER AND THE BLUE LAKE IS ABOVE THE CITY OF TEARS

To Heaven my friend... To Heaven
Is he dead?
@@rudolfsteihelm3128 Yes
@@rudolfsteihelm3128 no one knows. Probably yes, though.
Unless you never talk to him in the blue lake.
The saddest thing is that the game implies that quirrel died, seeing as he talked about his age and the importance of having a weapon, I make sure to visit that nail occasionally to mourn
Quirrel my beloved
I think my top 3 favorite characters are
1.) Quirrel
2.)Myla
3.)Nail master
If Silksong is indeed a prequel, we need to meet Quirrel, I mean, he and Hornet have already met in the comic, I think a Boss fight with him would be cool.
Then at the end of the fight, Hornet hits the mask like in the comic
I didnt knew that you could sit with Quirrel, so was just stand on his side
there is an image in the game files called Quirrel Death Nail
When i saw him at the lake i didn't know that was the last time i was seeing him 😔
I thought to myself "gee i wonder where else this guy will appear" oh what a naive person i was😢
I missed some of these encounters, as a result he didn't leave that much of an impression in my first run, not until the boss fight in the Teacher's Archives, I even mistook him for Tiso lmao. But the lake scene has something really deep with it, though I moved on so fast that I didn't even know I can sit down with him ToT
"KASSAW!"

Quirrel is best boy
Ah, and to wish you’d see Tiso as many times as i…
