From the 1978 masterpiece "Passing Thru..." Tenor Sax: Jimmy Heath Bass: Percy Heath Drums: Albert "Tootie" Heath Piano: Stanley Cowell Guitar: Tony Purrone Percussion: Mtume
Jimmy Heath is a genius on the sax here: Such peaceful, melodic lines! Tony Purrone on guitar emulates well Jimmy's sax lines and throws in some original licks and lines also! Love the piano solo too. The late Percy Heath keeps the groove together on bass and throws in some interesting funk-type lines also! Albert is I think on drums. All in all a great composition and arrangement by the incomparable Heath Brothers! A classic!!
+George Ferguson Agreed - can't figure out why this one hasn't been reissued, while In Motion has been. I'm sure it will be a nice surprise some day soon.
Ahhhh... memories of WRVR FM in NYC; before they went country circa 1980.
''MOVING PICTURES'' is my favorite from the album.
Beautiful like a painted masterpiece in music form!
