I started playing at the beginning, with an Alpha starter deck.
My friend's dad ran a game store back in the day. He got a couple cases of Alpha boosters, divvied them between me and his son, I think I got like 4. We opened all the packs and that was the start of my collection. I still have all of it!

i just really am disappointed that they so often chose the masters versions of the cards and not the original ones
That is one of the only things about this set that annoys me as well. One of the attractive qualities of the set to me is the deep dive into the history of magic and seeing newer versions of reprints hinders that for me.
They're going by most recent printing/reprinting as of Modern Horizons.

I preordered 2. 1 with two other friends and 1 alone. I tought my friends might regret it if we only have 2. I basicly don't care if we share the second box or not. In my country the box costed 75€ the day we ordered and currently its 100€.
I really loved to hear that the foils are old frame because I really liked this star on the bottom and that the bottom of the frame had a pattern befor M15 especially black foils.
little type I meant if we only have 1 box. My friends are quite happy that we have two instead of one and were quite happy to join in on the second. I pulled a Mana Crypt in our first draft and nobody was disappointed with the 3 boosters they got.
Solid. Started in 93 when a friend gave me a box set as a gift, and I thought this game will never take off. Gave it away. Started again in 2007.
Just started last November. My first purchase was Deadly Discovery challenger deck and I'm now hooked. Absolutely love the game. Now playing arena as well. Appreciate all your videos. They have been a great help.
Those old frame foils look like the Timeshifted cards from Time Spiral.

I started playing and collecting in 94. My first set was Revised. I have a massive collection of Revised, Legends, Arabian Nights, Antiquities, The Dark and a few handfuls of Alpha, Beta and Unlimited. I've collected many other sets over the decades, latest purchasing has been Theros. I would say I have somewhere around 300,000 cards... no joke!!
I am so excited to draft this on Saturday! Me and 5 other friends all chipped in on a box and it's going to be a blast!

Absolutely love these boxes. Bought two, pulled two mana crypts and a ton of other crazy stuff. Easily the best product wizards has made in a long ass time.

I've only opened up 9 packs for mystery booster but the two most notable pull is Mana Crypt and a foil scourge of the throne
What is the chance of getting a mana crypt all I know is that it is probably the most expensive one that you can pull
I will be getting one of these, some of these reprints are over 20 years old. You get them new, fresh, straight off the line except for a little symbol in the bottom left face of the card.
Just finished playing the Event for it a couple hours ago. From 8 event packs and £35 entry fee, my cards came to a rough total of £150 with Karrthus, Tyrant of Jund (foil) being my most expensive card. Someone at the event even got a Mana Crypt! If only i had the money for a box. But it is great set and a ton of fun to play. Highly recommend it.

We have a box of these we decided to keep for the collection / inflation in the future. I started playing MTG in 1995 when I was in grade 2, I believe it was Homelands.
I played MTG back in the late 90's (still wish I had my cards) and just bought my first pack since then - bought a single Mystery Booster Pack from a reputable site. Need to figure out how to get back into this without breaking the bank :D Awesome video!

Oh and the symbol you didnt recognise was nicol bolas archenemy i believe. The dragon is $11.99 currently as its the other mythic i pulled. It is a sweet dragon for EDH though!

I got started with 4th edition! First rare I pulled from a booster pack was a Cockatrice. No lie. Always stumped me why it was a rare and Thicket Basilisk was only Uncommon since it was better to Lure the Basilisk.
Ya I made a deck in modern for fun with “Eater of days” it if you look up the card cause of it still having its old text it should say “when it enters” not comes into play so negating the enter the battlefield effects allowed a beast for 4 mana

That's how the packs go. They aren't guaranteed amounts of any rarities (common/uncommon).
Love your stuff especially with the pricing you put up on the singles I do wish we would round up on the 24.5-9 cent cards and add those to the value

Started around the first theros... and for eater of days, i actually have it in one of my deck... just need a hushbringer, or tale’s end( i got tale’s end) to counter the negative effects of this card... works well

I received my 1st my first Mystery Booster Box yesterday, and it really felt like Christmas again, opening 24 boosters. I'm in self-quarantine, and in my second period of fever up to 38 degrees Centigrade, so I could use a boost :) Last week I got my first booster, and this had 1 Expropriate. My TOP 10 cards after 25 boosters:
Mana Crypt 2x
Expropriate 2x
Minamo 1x
Collective Brutality 2x
Defense of the Heart 1x
Manamorphose 1x
Ancient Ziggurat 1x
The cards are priced lower now, Mana Crypt now starts at €85, about USD 92.50
Kept semi-track of value and ended up over $400!!!!! But did note where value of Mystery Booster foils were much lower than original printings foils when pricing was available which brought it down quite a bit, but still solidly over $200. The pulls I am seeing from people are INSANE VALUE!!! This is like the opposite of Secret Lairs. But the market on some of these cards might tank, so we might actually be able to call this Chronicles 2!

Going to do Mystery draft tomorrow. Curious what the reasoning was behind reprinting the commander versions of cards instead of the original versions. Seems silly to use the reprint version as a reprint again lol

It truly is amazing. This game has always been pay to win, and this set is the first evidence I’ve seen that the game makers are trying to change that. It really does make a huge difference for so many players, and if a few people’s “investments” lose some value because of it, so be it.
@@Sarpro72 although I don't agree on the game being pay to win there have always been fun cards locked behind a hell of a pay wall. Personally I think that the investment mentality of buying cards for the sole purpose of selling later for is very toxic and hurts newer players
Zanith In almost every format of magic, he who has the biggest wallet has access to the widest range of cards. Assuming identical skill level, the only other factors are money and luck. Thoughts? Edit: I appreciate your opinion on investments, we are in total agreement on that.
@@Sarpro72 I personally play edh mainly, so with access to so many cards I've never had an issue building a deck of the power level I aim to. Money has only ever limited the variety and I've even built functional cedh decks on a fairly light budget. As for standard/pioneer/modern/etc I've found that the level of your deck can vary to a degree but price does play a much larger role but that seems to be largely due to lands being super backbreaking
I first started playing back in time spiral block I think, seeing as I got a precon back then. Although I got 2 old precons, I think one of them was 10th edition. So whichever came first. But I didn't really start playing properly until m19
Eater of Days is freaking amazing in a Stasis Deck ;) throw a Momentary Blink ( Momentary Blink {1}{W} Instant, Exile target creature you control, then return it to the battlefield under its owner’s control. Flashback {3}{U}) at em and then skip 4 turns. Let there opponent draw out there deck with your Howling Mines and Kismet in play! Portent a solid Ice Age card too ;) Fungasaur has the errata Creature - Fungus Dinosaur ..... BAWH GAWD with that one red card that does 1 damage to each creature with a dino comes out!
Used eater of days in a draft. Played green/black and ramped into it with some lightning greaves on turn 3. 😄

I started with Ice Age and 4th edition starter decks.
My first set was Kaladesh and I bought the hell out of it so I'm a bit disappointed to see so much of it and Aether Revolt in here, but there's more than enough other cool stuff to make me want to jump on this

That eater of days is a staple for torpor orb decks. Kinda gotta make sure you got counter magic though cuz it feels bad when your orb gets blown up in response to casting. Haha. I've had it happen.
Edit: dude and zur's weirding! I love that card in my muldrotha edh deck. It current is removed 'cause people get salty.
Eater of Days is fun if you can get the Tocatl Honor Guard or Hushbringer out first, but that's a lil' Christmasy
first set i played was khans of tarkir for standard at (LGS) I started collecting back in 2013 core set G/B starter favorite is my R/W boros though but ive got back into standard now so yeah its been fun.
the first big box I got was the 7th edition starter box n then I got a prebuilt ice age deck and a bunch of planeshift and apocalypse packs
First set i played with was Revised, then when i had found packs locally i bought into urzas saga, still have my first rare i opened ( Morphling) in that pack. Pretty sweet seeing these and not seeing a ton of repeats, can't wait to played draft with these.

My first was the original Ravnica, when duel mana casting cost was abundant in the guilds.
I've played Eater of Days in 2 very interesting decks, Torpor Orb & Scrambled Eggs.
Torpor Orb (similar to hushbringer) = Cancels ETB affects so 9/8 flying trample for 4.
Scrambled Eggs- My all time favorite deck It has:
Summoners Egg- 0/4 artifact creature exile a card under it, when the egg breaks creature comes out
Bazaar Trader- Give away your permanents
DESTROY Rotten EGG- However Leveler and Phage the Unthinkable work better
Alternatively, Put an Emrakul or Blightsteel under egg
Bluff opponents until only one is left
DESTROY EGG
WIN!!!
My first set was also Ice Age. I bought 3 packs and a 4th edition starter and traded the Polar Kraken to build my first deck, a b/g poison. Marsh Vipers and Pit Scorpions. Good times. When Alliances came out I thought Swamp Mosquito was the greatest thing ever. 🤣🤣

I cracked two of these last night. My first box was unreal! Going by the pre launch value and using the non mystery versions of the cards my first box was easily $500 if not more! Very curious to see how the value of the mystery versions of the cards plays out. That being said, great set, a blast to open! If you have time check out my opening!
I watch Tim Pool for news, I guess you could say he got me into it. And just bought the core set 2020 for my first purchase. Can anyone recommend any other packs or things to look for.
My first deck was morningtide going rogue state deck the sets that were out when I got packs were Eldrichmoon and amencet
Oh my gosh that foiled Boar is amazing. I own every Boar card in the game I have a whole wall sheet. Pigs are my favoirtie animal. They have the endurance piggy foiled at my lgs but its HP and I'm waiting till I can find one NM. I could order one but then theres no memories attached to the card so that's why I dont really order online. Good pulls

The foils are just like any of the other slots in the booster , 1/121 chance for each specific card. :) I am surely excited to draft my boosterbox soon :P I started playing at Dragon's Maze.
Bale fire liege foil from eventide is $37.... you looked at non foil even tide or planechase which are about $11

I remember buying urza's legacy packs new. That one is the most nostalgic set for me although urza's saga and Exodus will always be my favorites, some of the best cards they've ever printed in those sets and I liked how it just went up to rare, not a big fan of mythic.

Love the videos though dude just my opinion. I think people forget there are alot of people like me who can't buy singles for 20-30 dollars so this set is a God send. You know cards like Maren of Clan nel Toth. Like a 30 dollar card and finally will drop down and we have a chance of pulling it as well. Lots of cards like that in this set.
