Ya know I must've been the only kid not obsessed with Digimon.
I was 11 when Pokemon came to the US, and I had virtual pets before that. I was 100% the exact right age. Medabots, Robopon, Tomagatchi, Monster Rancher, even Jade Cacoon. Anything I could raise a monster in.

I got more of them than I expected before looking them up.
The one at 11:36 is a mega digimon known as Moon=Milleniummon.
Heracross and deoxys is beetlemon. Hydreigon and regice fusion is either Zeedmilleniummon, or moonmilleniummon. Deoxys and ferrothorn is Infernimon. Arceus and metagross is ancient wisemon. Persian and machamp are bancholeomon. Quilfish and hitmonchan are pukumon. Kyurem and pinsir is grankuwagamon

Digimon was not created as a competitor for Pokémon, it was created to be the "boy" version of Tamogatchi by the same company that made Tamogatchi. However, the United States *did* market it as a Pokémon competitor, so I see the confusion.
I know it did, I had one. I’m pretty sure I said that? The anime, TCG, and other products came about because of Pokemon.
