What a wonderful thing to do. To talk about your own history at your granddads. You should have taken the knife since it brought back so many memories. I have several of the everyday items from my grandparent's. They mean the most to me. Thank you.
Yes, since he and his mother grew up there, it wouldn't be stealing. It would be collecting a forever memory item, from his past. Maybe it is too difficult for him. We females are very much collectors of our past and our heart attachments. I am a hoarder of sorts, holding onto the belongings of my deceased parents and grandparents, just because the items were theirs. And I feel a kind of obligation to watch over these items and protect them for my loved ones. And the memories they hold for me, I can touch and feel and keep alive. Too sentimental, I guess. But yes, I would have taken everything that was slightly salvagable and not nailed down. LOL. Have a wonderful night, Lori. :)
Yes, the things that meant the most to them mean the most to me. No matter how tattered it may be. I still have my great grandmother's bible that was given to her for her 13th birthday back in the 1890s! How's that for sentimental hoarding? lol. It is beautiful to me, but in terrible condition, I have it sealed in a ziplock baggy. It's totally worthless for dollar value, but priceless to me and I love it! :)
@@BrosOfDecay many blessing for you. I'm sorry it's being torn down. I love your videos. Very professional even when it's so very personal. Thanks cutie pie.
You seem like a very sweet young man. You say your grandfather was "grumpy". He was very old, living alone, and in pain. Not much to be cheerfully about, I would say. It is very hard for the young and healthy to relate to the old and infirm. His work habits tell me he took pride in what he did. A man who takes care of his tools is a man who appreciates what those tools can do in the right hands. Having been young, beautiful, and healthy, and now old and infirm, I understand these things. I hope you will be able to recall good things about your grandparents. Usually, people really do the best they can with what they have. Most of us grow old, and unfortunately, most will fall ill. Compassion and grace go a long way in relationships. Keep smiling. Blessings...
Made my eyes tear up. My grandfather's house was auctioned off. I remember too my last day at the house. Very painful. Thanks for sharing your story. I know you loved him🐱
it was his love that was the most important gift to you and your brother... 100 years ago was a different world... OUR dads and grandads were strict and that is why you have a good soul. We love you too.

Guess that's how it started. That you liked old places. Abandoned places. Love and memories. Those strongest things. - I saw your grandfather, when you were talking. You made your grandpa live again.
Lesley, this must have been a hard one for you to film. You handled it very well. The memories must have come flooding back as you walked through the house for the last time. They can demolish the house but not your memories... Your classy style always shines through... nice job on this one which had to have been emotional.
I could fell your emotion when you picked up your grandpa's oat meal. Those are the little things that pull our felling of loss to the top of our hearts. Thanks for sharing this special home with us! Peace
I could tell this made you emotional. Believe me I understand all too well. Were you close your grandfather if you don't mind me asking? . The bathroom seemed to be in good condition! Sending you a hug! I know this one was hard for you. ❤️❤️❤️
Bros Of Decay you are welcome! Well I know he is proud of you and your brother as you both turned out to be sweet, smart and handsome young men ! Both you and your brother are special and I know that he's proud of you both. ❤️❤️
Virtual hug also. I know how you feel. My grandparents' home was torn down after they both passed away and they had a lot of antique furniture, but the one thing I would have wanted was my grandmother's Pearl Harbor radio. My uncle told me it was thrown in the trash -- they didn't know the value of them I've seen them in antique stores for US $800 even! Well, enjoy the memories. If god didn't give us good parents, he gave us good grandparents! Best always.
Thank you so much for showing us your Grandad's home, I could see how difficult it was, you're a thoroughly decent man and a real credit to his memory, thanks again.
My Dad who is 93 yrs old, fixes everything! He's amazing. Active and sharp. Thank you for this very personal video. You are such awesome young men. Your parents surely are proud of you. Hugs from a Mom of 2 sons.

Your grandfather reminds me very much of my father. My dad could fix anything and everything. He was very much a handyman. And like your grandfather, my father had a place for everything in his garage and Workshop area. I love to look at it now when I go back home to visit my mom. Many of his old cans of paint and tools and everything that he used to repair and build things with are still in his garage. I have good memories of that. I'm glad you were able to visit your grandfather's house before they tore it down. Thanks for the great videos you post. I love watching them and being able to see life in other countries. You guys are great.
WOW! Thanks so very much for sharing the last view of your grandfather's house! I can tell it was a very emotional video to shoot. Thanks again, and I'm so sorry for your loss. You're one of my top 5 explorers, because you guys show *a lot* of respect for the places you explore.
This story was so touching! You had me thinking about my grandparent's and their home in New York. You're right, the memories all come flooding back in all at once. As much as I love all of your videos, Leslie, this one is the best and the sweetest by far. You held yourself together very well. I however, did not. Remembering my own grandparents', and parents', houses while you remembered yours got me. All of my grandparents and both parents are gone, as are their houses. But the memories live inside of me everyday, and sometimes I just ache to touch them physically again. I am glad you got to see your grandparents' house one last time. God bless you, kind sir. You are such a wonderful dude.

Thank you for this...so very heartfelt. My dad is 87 years old and I know one day he will not be with me. I never thought to take a tour through his house like this, but you have inspired me!
Thank you for sharing this personal part of your life. I could see the mixed emotions you are experiencing in this video of happy memories and sadness of loss. Bitter sweet. Thank you so much.
Thank you so much for sharing this video with us, and the story of your grandfather. Seeing this video was awesome and it brought warmth to my heart. Wishing you and your family many blessings. Take care
Very enjoyable to see your grandfather's house you did a GREAT job showing and telling us about, I know it must have been hard for you to see the home and all the memories that went with it you are a very caring person .. best wishes for you "GREAT JOB" !!
Aww how sweet. You see the memories flood back in your face. And now it's coming down. Such a shame. Look at it this way, they can knock down a wall or building, but, they can never remove a memory. xxx
It is always difficult to deal with the private things and places of a loved one...you did very well filming this even as the bare rooms and few items left behind raised memories for you. The stair railing was beautiful, and I’m sure in its day the home was lovely. Thank you for sharing it with us, he had a great workspace. 🖤🇨🇦
I have just started watching your videos. I love the way you show things. You are so respectful of people’s things. You bring things and people alive with your narrative. Keep up the great work.
Cute home, and I love frame 7:22 of your grand dad's work area. 🍃This frame on the left side, would have made a beautiful photo shot of nature coming through.🍃 Thank you for sharing your grand dad's home with us. Sorry for your lost, my deepest condolences Lesley. 😔
I am so sorry for your loss , I can see by your reaction that your heart was aching. I am sending a very big hug to you. Your Grandfather would be so proud to see the wonderful man you have become. You are a sweetheart ! I used to stay with my grandparents a lot when I was very young, I can still smell the kitchen where my grandmother cooked such wonderful food for us. I miss them very much too. Thank you so much for sharing your heart with all of us.
Nice one and you are such a nice guy too! You seem like you were raised by a loving family. Boy there sure were some serious cobwebs there! Well thanks for sharing with us your Grandfather's home!
I remember when my father passed away two years ago. He was 70 years old and lived a 20 hour drive away with his mother to care for her. My mother passed away 4 years before my father. I went to my grandmother's house to spend my father's last days with him. The entire week I was there I remember I kept looking around the house at every photo, every decoration, every shadow and every detail...taking in the scent of each room even, trying to reserve the memories from that house. Somehow I knew it would be my last time ever in that house. After my father passed, my grandmother, who suffered from dementia, had to go to a nursing home and then passed away 1 year later and her house was sold. I could see that same look on your face before you walked up the staircase at your grandfather's home for the last time, replaying the memories. This is one of my favorite videos, even though there wasn't much physically to share, the real memories you shared made it worth everything.
I Love your Grandpas place its Awsome I'm sorry for your loss its amazing to celebrate him with this video great job Awsome home much love your friend Nelly from the Bronx 😘😘😘😘😘😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍💋💋😉💋😉💋💖💖💖💖💖💖💖😅😅😅😅😅
Thankyou for sharing your Grandad's house...it was lovely to hear you remembering things about your childhood. Must have been difficult for you. You are a very respectful young man....I am a Mother to one son...he would be very proud of you. God bless you.xx uk
Childhood memories are so precious. It was wonderful to see you relive them through the house. Thank you for sharing it with us. I thought the kitchen was interesting. With all the food still there. I think I would have taken the knife as a momento. I liked seeing the outside n garage. Fun explore.
Big hug for you! You sound like you miss your Grandfather a lot, so I am sending love to you from California, USA. Thank you for sharing his home with us.
You shared your memories of your grandad which I could see at times was very hard for you. You had a sadness in your voice and eyes. I know we all appreciate your explore and reliving some memories, which we know is sometimes very difficult. We thank you, Leslie. Take care.
The love you felt for your grand dad was quite evident as you walked thru the house. Difficult sharing any kind of memories. Many thanks for sharing. Super hugs sent your way.
Leslie, I have just found your channel and subscribed. I love your approach to exploring and narrating your videos. I am going backwards in time watching them, and just watched this one. Wow, what a gem this is! Thank you for sharing such a personal journey with us as you went through your granddad's old home. I could tell it was very emotional for you, and as a result it was for me too. I wanted to hug you at the end. My respect for you and your brother increases with each video I watch! Thank you for producing these great videos. You have a new fan from the United States.
Thanks Leslie. It was interesting and probably very nostalgic for you. You seemed to choke up a little. I would have loved to have seen the place before they started tearing it apart.
Thank You Leslie. I see that takes a piece of you . I understand. It’s hard to go back like that . Brings back memories like it was yesterday. Did a great job . Stay safe ! Paul, St Petersburg, Florida
At the end of your video, I could sense your sadness and loss of your grandfather. It is evident in your voice and through your stories that you loved him deeply! I'm sure that he loved you, your brother and mother deeply as well. Many hugs to you! Thank you for sharing your beautiful memories!
Thank you for sharing your adventures.. You have such a kind and loving heart for others and their stories and are so very respectful of the things they left behind... I love your videos.. Hugs for you, God Bless you and your family
You said your grandfather was from the Netherlands and moved to Belgium. What country was he from? My great grandfather was from Holland , he was a doctor. There was not much work for doctors at that time so he moved to Germany and worked at a hospital. I love history and you study the houses before you show them. You and your brother are so cool.
Hey Susan Holland is not a country it is a province in the Netherlands. Don't say it to a dutch person if you don't know for sure that he is from Holland 😊
@@BrosOfDecay Holland is not a province. We say Hup Holland Hup for our Dutch national football team. Come on it is a nickname, no one gets upset over it. I mean technically it is Kingdom of the Netherlands
OMG…Leslie…I can hear and feel the emotion in your voice…it sure got me❤️I absolutely loved the story your mom told you about sneaking to your dads room…sending you a🤗Hugz. TFS this special memory with us…I loved it.
A photo of your grandparents would be nice. I think you said he was the father of your mother? I wonder, when you show homes that are abandoned, why they are not taken or inherited by family, or others? Do the laws in Belgium allow inheritance? Are taxes assessed against these places? Curious how this works in your country. Just think, all the residences you go into probably have someone with memories like yours. Your respect for the families is appreciated. from Cynthia on RC's acct
Thank you so much for sharing the home and story of your grandfather. I was so touched. Isn't it amazing the things our memories hold. I'm glad you got to do this before it was gone.
I'm a little curious as to what happen to the contents of the home? Family photos, furniture, appliances etc. Was it divided between family members? Thanks for sharing your Grandfather's life with us
I can see in your face and hear in your voice its still very emotional for you. Your past memories, both good and bad, must be flooding back every step you take. Thank you for sharing an obvious emotional part of your life. 👍👍
it was common in more traditional famillys for unmarried couples to live with their parents in law. my son lived with his girlfriend with me untill he had his own place. but they did not sleep seperate

Hi Lesley.thank you for sharing your life’s memories it was hard for you. It was once a nice cozy lovely home. Great video. A hug.🥰👍🏻❤️
Alot of respect I have for this 💓
Thankyou my friend
Aww how sweet. You see the memories flood back in your face. And now it's coming down. Such a shame. Look at it this way, they can knock down a wall or building, but, they can never remove a memory. xxx
Thank you for sharing your grandpa's home, and your memories. I love your videos. Until next time 💖
Thankyou so mutch
So sweet of you sharing your grandparents home. I'm sure you have many memories there. Love you for sharing.
It is always difficult to deal with the private things and places of a loved one...you did very well filming this even as the bare rooms and few items left behind raised memories for you. The stair railing was beautiful, and I’m sure in its day the home was lovely. Thank you for sharing it with us, he had a great workspace. 🖤🇨🇦
Thank you it was a great trip through my youth in there
Thank you for taking us with you Leslie. I smiled at your Mum's little story. Blessings.
Great video of your memories salut 👊
May your grandad rest in peace knowing that you loved him so much. You are an awesome person with a big heart. God bless. Big hugs.
Thank you for sharing such personal, intimate memories. You are really a very special person.
How beautiful. Thank you for sharing your memories.

Childhood memories are so precious. It was wonderful to see you relive them through the house. Thank you for sharing it with us. I thought the kitchen was interesting. With all the food still there. I think I would have taken the knife as a momento. I liked seeing the outside n garage. Fun explore.
Sorry i forgot to put some thing in
Big hug for you! You sound like you miss your Grandfather a lot, so I am sending love to you from California, USA. Thank you for sharing his home with us.
How special. I was wondering why wasn't it left to a family member in a Will?
bridgette foster or sold instead of left to rot away.
We sold the house and didn't clean it out for the most part
You shared your memories of your grandad which I could see at times was very hard for you. You had a sadness in your voice and eyes. I know we all appreciate your explore and reliving some memories, which we know is sometimes very difficult. We thank you, Leslie. Take care.
very cool. Thank you.
I know how you feel when went inside of the house and recall every memories.hugs from Phippines
Awww I loved that.. 😍😍
The love you felt for your grand dad was quite evident as you walked thru the house. Difficult sharing any kind of memories. Many thanks for sharing. Super hugs sent your way.
Very touching
I enjoyed this very much
At the end of your video, I could sense your sadness and loss of your grandfather. It is evident in your voice and through your stories that you loved him deeply! I'm sure that he loved you, your brother and mother deeply as well. Many hugs to you! Thank you for sharing your beautiful memories!
Do you have any childhood photos from visiting this place, we would love to see them. Blessings.
Thanks for sharing your Grandfather's life with us
Hey we all took them out some time ago
I can see in your face and hear in your voice its still very emotional for you. Your past memories, both good and bad, must be flooding back every step you take. Thank you for sharing an obvious emotional part of your life. 👍👍
When you say your Mom sneaked your Dad into her room, do you mean he lived with the family before they were married? If so, was that common then?
it was common in more traditional famillys for unmarried couples to live with their parents in law. my son lived with his girlfriend with me untill he had his own place. but they did not sleep seperate
Sure loved it and love your big heart- my age 82
Thank you for watching Marlene!

Thank you Lesley for sharing this special home with your viewers. It is nice to see something that tells a story about your family. This will not be forgotten like the other videos you document. Special love from an old lady in Ohio, United States.
it makes it alot more special when you yourself have history in where you are filming. Thank you for showing this place to us.
Memories are happy and sad. Thank you for the trip down memory lane.
I wish my grandparents house was still standing. It was a two room log cabin, built in 1890's. Love the special sharing of your family today. It's the day after Thanksgiving, I'm catching up on your trips. Love from me in the USA.
