Hey Levi! Thanks for sharing footage of one of the unsung heroes of "HillBilly Jazz"! Great player. Small quibble though, I think Hank is "anchoring" his fingers/hand with his index finger to facilitate one finger per fret four fret spread, but as always great, insightful share! You're the best. Merry Christmas from the freezing Midwest of USA!
I love Hank, he's probably my favorite player. His song "So What" is fantastic, as is his version of "All the things you are" I love the way his lines flow.
"Crazy The Hank Garland Story " is on DVD. It shows how he wrote and played guitar on "Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree" but at that time you could only be a player or a writer. Steve Vai makes a cameo as Hank Williams.
2003 I was at a blues open mic hosted by the late Big Dave Feister and the Groove Monsters in Florida, and I got the jam with Jerry Scheff, one of Elvis's bass players. You can't Jam if you don't show up
Class act! Have you heard of Danny Cedrone who played solo guitar on some of Bill Haley's Comets' early recordings including Rock around the Clock - Hendrix and Pete Townsend said this was a major influence on their interest in the instrument.
Hank was great and so was Johnnie Smith and Roy Clark with that country jazz sound. I also love Willie Nelson's guitarist for several years Jackie King. Good stuff.
Hank Garland was a major influence on George Benson. His "Jazz Winds From a New Direction " is a classic Another suggestion from another genre and decade but also criminally underrated is Michael Lee Ferkins. ruclips.net/video/OuXUEtKQVoA/видео.html
Garland is perhaps best known for his Nashville studio work with Elvis Presley from 1958 to 1961 which produced such rock hits as: "I Need Your Love Tonight", "A Big Hunk o' Love", " I'm Coming Home", "I Got Stung", "A Fool Such As I", "Stuck on You", "Little Sister", "(Marie's the Name) His Latest Flame", and "I Feel So Bad"
His life was tragic. I have the movie that documents it. He was diagnosed (wrongly, IMO) with schizophrenia and given shock treatments which left him pretty much disabled mentally.
Hey Sammy, let me help you out there. “Hey Levi, thanks so much for the FREE videos you’re putting up and the hours your clearly putting in every day, I appreciate it and wouldn’t be such a douche to complain about it”

Love these short-form videos. Just enough intro, followed by the meat. Thanks for making these short and punchy.
Hank is so underrated. Such a monster player. Love the movie that Vai did about him.
Loving these video transcriptions man! Really dig the talking intros explaining the background of the solos
I can't stand them, he should put them after the clips
don't watch them then Chris :)
Reputed to be an influence on George Benson - Hank's "Jazz Winds.." is a classic

Damn that's kinda sweet.
You beat me to this. Yep a good movie about Hank.
According to Hanks Daughter, that movie is POS, and not accurate at all

He was a beast! Listen to "Jazz Winds From A New Direction".
Ive never heard of this guy but he does play very clean. No distortion to hide fuck ups because he played it CLEAN. Tasteful techniques
Amazing to see Hank Garland get the spotlight on your channel like this. Kudos to you, Levi.
It’s got the same beat as Tommy and the Jive Hand.
This one is fantastic
What Elvis tunes did he play on? I wasn't aware of any. Thanks.

This would be a great piece to learn, if you are trying to gain strength and dexterity in your little finger. ✌️
My god this is really depressing me over trying to play along. Please tell me the tape is running fast? I cannot keep up with him.

Those slides
I can hear where Danny Gatton got ALOT of his licks! :)
Junior Brown does a good version of Sugar-foot rag
That reverb is TrIiPpY
the 2 and 4 finger on that pentatonic box are a result of very strict finger position discipline.
and not having any foresight
Jingle Bell Rock !!!
Hi, can you do a reaction to *"Alip Ba Ta"* ?
He's a phenomenal guitarist from Indonesia. 🙏
Junior Brown's version is fantastic.
Mr. Sugarfoot Rag himself!!!
The delay spoilt the performance
Leon Rhodes.
Please just put your monologs at the end of the videos
Just stop watching my videos Chris.
Is there gonna be a minute of talking before all vids now?
Hey Sammy, let me help you out there.
