Yes but timeline is also important, agar ye ajke time me hota to of course chod ke chala jata koi bhi at without second thought but it shows 1969 era or early 90 I'm not sure though. Aur us time k india se to ap aware hi honge so.

As a bengali I feel offended by this movie... The character of Naveen was rude but he never crossed the line with language... Every character had their own dignity in the novel... It's really not justified

@@ayantikasil7182 if you can read bengali then read the story itself..otherwise listen it on 'GOPPO MIR ER THEK'...that version is pretty good...even there is bengali movie parineeta acted by Mousumi Chatterjee ...last option is to watch it on hoichoi the latest release...but that also is not upto the mark..but still its better than this trash

Yes, Shekhar hitting Lalita, his dad calling her a prostitute, these were not in the original novel, but Bollywood can't do without adding mirch masala... :/
@@tuhinadas188 The same thing happened with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Devdas. Sarat Chandra's novels have a certain kind of charm and innocence in them. Bollywood has always destroyed the innocence of Mr Chatterjee's novels.

@@luckyluke2078 actually in the real story there was no slap... it was added by film director so without reading the real story don't create assumption about anybody...in the real Parineeta story Sekhar was no doubt a gentleman
@@luckyluke2078 are you even same, his dad lied to him about her, girish was getting married to her younger sister, she was always loyal and devoted to him and even if she would have gone with girish because of how amazingly shekhar's family treats her physical violence is not acceptable

Shekhar father misleading just made Shekhars ground empty..

When Shekhar saw girish and Lalita closeness later few scenes can lead to misleading for anybody and sometimes time only proves the faith

Love this movie … It was one of the first Indian movies I ever watched … I remember being impressed by the voice of Sonu Nigam (I hope that’s the right name) and by the STUNNING voice of the female singer in “Raat hamari toh” (Still one of my absolute favorite Hindi songs!) … I was also impressed by Vidya Balan but not Saif Ali Khan … Her performance is wonderful (Seriously??? That’s her first movie??!!) while Saif’s performance is exaggerated and over dramatic in some scenes … She’s the better actor … And the lady playing his mother … She radiates gentleness and motherly love! It’s a beautiful movie … Having now watched many Bollywood films, this remains one of my absolute favorites!❤
The female singer is the legend Shreya Ghoshal

Saif's character is such a weak man. Cannot understand what a strong girl like Lalita saw in him. Totally abusive relationship. And while I love the movie, if the cast would have been Bengali, it would have been so much more authentic movie experience. People saying Lolita instead of Lalita pronouned in the Bengali manner!! Cringe!
