    Me too. I put u4t in my wife's white kbd8x mkii and kbdpad, because she prefers u4t. I personally prefer the tecsee coffee chip ice cream. I lubed mine with tribosys 3203, and to me it feels so smooth, sound so deep and creamy. It sound like pressing on a real traditional piano's key. I liked it so much I bought 3 extra bags of 110 switch as my backup supply :)

    So I’ve been looking around to trying a tactile switch and I think you’ve won me over. I was debating U4T, Anubis and Blueish Whites for awhile, primarily U4T and Anubis.
    So it ended up being a great and unexpected surprise seeing the Anubis as one of the main comparisons since I haven’t seen too much talk about them. I hear that they can be a bit boring and I do hear things about how a two stage spring swap for the Anubis helps it out a ton.
    But other than that, I’m guessing it’s a sign I should pull the trigger on the Anubis.

    Could you please compare the boba u4 switch to his alternatives? Trying to find the best tactile silent switch, but seems like there are no good alternatives to u4 at all... Im kinda confused, hope for your help!

      there's a difference between boba u4t and u4t, from what i've been told! Boba is a plastic formulation that reacted poorly with some foams (i.e. discoloration), but looking at gazzew's new offerings there's Black Boba U4t so I think it should be fine!

    Great insight on types of tactile switch 💕. What are your thought on anubis vs moyu black?

    • @MakerMods
      @MakerMods  2 года назад +2

      Thanks so much! So I’ve never tried the moyu black, but I do know that the Anubis uses the same stem mold as the moyu black! From my understanding, Mechsondeck wanted a better sound and smoothness with the same tactility as the moyu, hence the semi-opaque bottom and the nylon top for the Anubis :)

    Hey, thanks for sharing your experience.
    I recently started getting into the mechanical keyboards enthusiasts thing. Sorry to ask you but if you have a chance please can you try to help me on this one?
    I went to a Best Buy yesterday to try different switches. I tested a few different keyboards. Initially I thought that I was a linear switch person. I stand with that feeling after trying the first keyboards but then I tested the HypeX Aqua tactile switches and somehow I felt that it was the right fit for me.
    Those switches were smooth, light (I guess factory pre lubed), with light thocky sound, almost silent I'd say and with a little to nothing actuation tactile force against the fingers. My first inclination was to order thoses switches, well, they are not for sale.
    What are the tactile extreme super light pre lubed thocky (but almost silent) switches that you know that could be what I'm looking?
    Are those bellow in this category?
    - Tecsee Blue Sky 63.5g
    - Kailh Midnight Pro 55g
    - KTT Phalaenopsis 50g
    - Neapolitan Ice Cream 63.5g
    - Boba U4T V2 62g (this is what brought me to your video)
    - TTC Silent Bluish White 50g
    - Outemu Silent Cream Yellow Pro 60g
    To summarize, I think I'm looking into a tactile switch that is almost a linear switch, very light bump and a thocky low sound signature.

    I also love the Anubis switches but I had a LOT of inconsistency issues with my switches from batch 1... and return issues as well on the mods. I spring swapped them to 67 g springs and that helped a lot but it still feels a bit off on the return. Do yours have that issue?

    • @MakerMods
      @MakerMods  2 года назад +3

      I personally didn’t but I could see it happening with the large tactile bump on the moyu black stem, and a lighter spring! I pretty much immediately spring swapped to 69g kinetics though so that might be why I didn’t have the same issue!

    I used boba for about 3 months or even more, then I just swapped back my glorious pandas. what I actually dislike about them are:
    1. they are actually more clacky then thocky compared to GP, but this might be different from board to board, on my board GP sounds better;
    2. when you soft press them, right at the beginning you can hear a pop noise, very metallic and ones you notice it, it becomes very annoying;
    3. the way they bottom out makes them weird on the spacebar, you can even hear that pop sound better on the spacebar in each review video.
    they are actually more tactile compared to GP, just slightly and you might prefer that but I would consider them for a more clacky build.

    I admit the bobas do sound better when they are lubed and your board is modded. I like the sound better than my HP. However, I haven't read or heard about one issue with the bobas which I learned only when I wanted to change my keycaps. Lo and behold, the switches are coming out with the keycaps. Turns out they sound great and feel great, but they fit the keycaps terribly. They are so tight and snug, having a bigger stem so that when I started removing my MT3 keycaps, the switches came with the keycaps. It happened on every single one of my boba. That's when my FB group told me that that is an issue. So now I am using only clones on my bobas. And they are never going to be replaced ever. Too much trouble. They may sound and feel great but not so great when you want to change your keycaps every so often lest they end up breaking your keycap stems. I think my keycaps are still more expensive than the switches.

    • @SamTheChamp
      @SamTheChamp 11 месяцев назад

      100% to this comment. I've noticed that the Boba U4Ts have often come out, along with my Cherry/SA/MT3 keycaps, on both a PC plate and a steel plate. For that reason, I do not often use U4Ts when I'm experimenting with keyboard mods or keycap swaps. I wonder if this is something specific to tactile switches, because I have never encountered this sort of issue with the linear switches I've tried.

    One thing that triggered me was the audio and the lipsync. I think it's off. Sound seems ahead than the video. Edit: At first I was hmm you seem strange. My mind kind of immediately picked up on the audio not matching your lips. I think when you did the two keyboard the audio was muted for the blue keyboard and I think when people do audio test like that should also include a visual of the volume. I don't know what it is called but that bar or graph that you see when you edit the sound. Cause the bar helps people visualize what the sound the switches produce. I know it's easy to differentiate the difference between a clacky or thocky keyboard but sometimes when switches sometimes produce a more subtle difference if it is lubed. Also I would enjoy it much more it the sound tests were more back to back instead of spaced out with you saying what switch. What you could've done is mention which switches you were going to do in order or/and adding the name of switches in editing. And also in this video timestamps are off for the switches I'm not going to check the others (I can't be bothered). When you say the name of the switch it is still halfway through the previous ones. Anyway I hope some of my feedback I can give based on this video helps ya out.
