Levy underestimates how often people play hillbilly without gambit-ing the pawn. Even around 1500-1700 blitz, I see hillbilly and it is like this (minus the extra bishop moves).

I assume for lots of people to get into the Hillbilly attack, they play some sort of bishop's opening against E4-E5 and just do the same in the Caro. Additionally, white is still in a fully playable position and most of us aren't masters who will punish this type of Hillbilly properly (at least I know I'm not).
I’m just barely getting past that point now (closer to 900). The thing is you and everyone at your level start to see tactics, know basic openings, blunder less, etc. but I and everyone else will still make horrible, game-losing blunders with regularity. It’s a weird elo I think

Wait til 1300 rapid. A good 15-20 percent of games are played at 2000 level (game review estimate). No blunders, no mistakes. Maybe 2/3 minor inaccuracies.
As someone who, despite making good efforts, has floated around 750 for months now I am absolutely devastated that there were guesses of 800+ for game 2 😭😭 surely I'm not that bad?!
Hear me out for a series of videos idea. get 10 chess content creators and you all pick a viewer/subscriber with 500 elo or below (with an account old enough to prove that is their actual elo) and you all tutor your chosen player and after a month you hold a mini tournament.

This allows Nc4 and the potential for the hilarious Nd6+ and e4 combo, which would give White two advanced centralized knight outposts in exchange for two pawns of material.
Honestly, the reason how I accurately guessed game 2 was I have a friend who has 400 elo and the opening plus the movement of both players made me imagine if I'm watching him play.
I always feel like there's little change between 1600 and 2000, like you can directly see changes happening between 1000 and 1200.. But from 1600 onwards there really isn't much to give a sign if you're 1700 or 1800.
The best part of guess the elo is not you guessing the elo, it’s seeing your reactions to games you’ve never seen before.
